Hotsaw isn’t always fun and games when things start acting up! I suppose that’s what we get for turning a dirt bike motor into a chainsaw!

Leatherface been real quiet since this guy dropped this video 😂
Used to have 066 now have a 661 I’m pretty happy with it
Thank you!
The problem I'm having is my top plate cutter is too acute. When I raise the arm up and roll the tooth support forward to make it more obtuse, I'm into the tie straps. I think my stone is too thick on the side plate portion, I'm going to try to dress down the top plate portion to thin out the side of the wheel more. Does that make sense? Thanks for sharing this, probably the best Simington grinder video I've found so far.
@@austingriffith1118 the stone could very well be too thick. The stone really only needs to be just a bit thicker than whatever you have your rakers set at since thats all of the side plate that is actually cutting wood. Your chain holder could also maybe be too far back, I generally leave mine set in the middle. If theres anything I can help you with let me know! Thanks for commenting!
@@thattimbersportsdude I do have the chain holder pretty far back - which was intended to keep the side plate cutter angle from being too acute. I just got a stone dresser to help with thinning out the wheel - something like $7 - to preserve the diamond dressers. Thanks for replying.
@ no problem! Also those diamond dressers are all but impossible to wear out so don’t worry too much about those. 💪🏼
u lose torque with the straight shot
How so?
@@thattimbersportsdude u get a lil more hp but less torque
From start to first cut is flawless effort
Look at the size of the expansion chamber! Got some torque there, barely slows down chewing that big log into sawdust.
Well over 50hp in the hands with that machine!
I need that chainsaw, asking for my neighbor.
For the value price of 10k you can own one! Hahaha
😮😮😮
Gott dann that’s a hot bixx
Como se llama ese sistema y que marca es
This is a Honda CR250 dirtbike motor with a 325cc cylinder on it.
What is that monstrosity it's frankinsaw!!!
I saw a chainsaw years ago that was powered by a Harley Sportster engine. It was probably 8 feet long.
I think I know who's that is... Good for him!
I have a big tree in my front yard that blew down, need you to come cut it up with that.
I frickin love two strokes man!
They indeed smell like freedom!🦅🦅🦅
Upcut was insane
Yea I was pushing her a little harder there lol
That is a beast of chainsaw.
Good video thanks
Buy a 3 angle chislebit file that is made for it,man your driving me crazy filing like that.😂
Why not just buy it and keep it sharp
Because if you have lots of round filed and want to start running square, you need to know how to change it over and that you can change it over which is super simple. It is a lot easier if you can just buy already Square ground chain and keep it square throughout the entire life of the chain but if you don’t have the means to ditch all of your round filed to go buy all new then this is what you have to do.
The test of man saw right there.
Hey Aaron, are you and Joe still teaching the osha class in Indiana? I went through it a few years ago and know some people who would like to go through it but I’m not sure who or how to go about getting the info for the class.
Yes we are! Duane McCoy with DNR would be the guy to get ahold of

Nice video
Was that a STIHL chain saw?
Nope, it would take three of the biggest Stihl saw to be close to this saw. Its a Honda 250 with a 325 cylinder 💪🏼
@@thattimbersportsdude Thanks, I subscribed.
I appreciate it!!!
Buddy has cleats on? 😂
You bet he does! 325cc of Honda power will push you around all over the place 💪🏼
@@thattimbersportsdude i love it
I saw your truck
Heck yea!
Nice job Mr. Hovis slicing away. I would like to borrow your axe to cut me down a few trees.
When one know how it is always easy and sometimes when you least expect it the tree will fall on you from being over confident.
This is one cool tool. I would just love to buy me one. Do you know where a good used one is for sale at a reasonable price ???
I have to tell you Sir that when you enter the woods the beavers run away. YOU are the man with the axe, PERIOD!!! I am glad to know you Sir even though we never met in person. May the axe swing precisely for you fella.
Thatnk you so very much!!
@@thattimbersportsdude PEACE BROTHER ON FATHERS DAY !!!!!!
Where did you get the muffler that sounds cool ?? Aaron I respect your video about square filing. But the 45 degrees you and others are talking about is not the angle you are using. Also, you could file from the bottom toward the point and achieve the same results with lot less file chatter and smoother sharpening using the bar as the holder for the chain. The easiest way to sharpen the chain is to take the chain and put it into a parallel vice or chain holder that can be clamped and file alway. No chatter at all in either direction, but still smoother filing from the bottom to the point of the edge. Just my two cents fella. Peace vf
You should try to get a sponsor like Northern Tool to sponsor you!!!!
Haha they had the opportunity and passed it up so their loss.
In it's heart it's actually a poulan wild thing
Hahahaha that’s awesome!! That might just be what I name this saw, “WILD THANG”
Is that a turbo chainsaw lol
Maybe more of a Frankenstein saw haha
Your angle should be forty to forty five degrees. If you hold a protractor to the bar, at the witness mark, you will find that you are not doing it correctly. Hey, as long as it cuts good, does not matter. This is a black art of forestry and there is not right way, in my opinion.
The angle of the file or the angle of the top plate?
What height do you generally run your rakers at?
It depends on what I’m cutting but typically.025 is a great all-around setting.
Nice presentation man but… don’t get me wrong but I think the 3/8 .50 gauge stihl chain is the a low profile chain right? Or am I wrong? If it is the picco chain you are using way too much large file and also you are using the wrong stihl file gauges! Yours are the standard 3/8 for 13/64 file but in case that your chain is a picco chain who I think it is, you need the correct stihl file gauge who sais on top 3/8 p and file size 5/32! Please let me know what tooth side has this chain! The standard or the low profile? Excuse me if I am wrong though
It is the full size 3/8. The only thing that I have that runs the 3/8 Picco is my pole saw and I have the same guides for the 3/8 Picco for it.
No worries, I’ve got big hands so it may make that chain look small haha
@@thattimbersportsdude ok man thanks! I learn something today! I wasn’t aware that .50 gauge 3/8 stihl chain has full size tooth! Can you write me the part number of that chain pls?
@@thattimbersportsdude lol
Yessir, the full size 3/8 comes on .050, .058, and.063. The model number for the semi chisel .050 will be 33RM and the chisel is 33RS in the standard sequence chain
Damm..... by the time you started up, you had finished!!! 💪💪💪 I'll stick to my job Sir..... 🤣
Its got the power for sure!!
Ready, set, GO ... Bawwwwww and it was over.🤯
Kool-grind is my absolute favorite cheap accessory for grinder. Been using it for 20 years
Dang, I should have tried to talk you into grinding a few chain's fer me when I came through on my way in from Iowa Tuesday.
Good video Aaron. I appreciate the details on the angles you are running. Do you primarily do logging, pruning, safety instruction, competition?
Glad you enjoyed the video! I primarily cut timber and teach the chainsaw classes. I compete through the summer and then train as much as I can throughout everything else haha.
Did you get that at Northern Tools?
Absolutely not, look as hard as you want and you’ll find nothing from there.
Excellent video.
This is awesome!
Did a professional take that video?
The best!
Where did you get the file for that
Those are called double bevel files, they are getting very hard to find and more expensive but you can find them online
Keep good videos coming
Good video, too the point! Would love to see same test done with next size up sprocket to see if skip gained any ground?
