Silent Hiking in Andorra Alone
This video pretty much sums up why I love hiking alone and what hiking means to me. It's about enjoying the calm and quiet beauty the mountains hold, having coffee and food with good views and letting your mind relax while the body does the work.
I recorded these hikes in the summer of 2023 and filmed them with my old camera, so sorry for the lower quality!

This hike was full of surprises! We explored the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido for 3 days and we camped for 2 nights. The amount of waterfalls hidden in these mountains was astonishing. Pas de Chèvres ladders - Corbassière bridge - Charles Kuonen bridge. The Walker’s Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt isn’t a technical hike, so you don’t need any fancy skills. Last summer we did a little three day hike in the Pyrenees, mainly in Andorra but also crossed to the Spanish side. We found two beautiful little lakes where we spent the nights. Hiking Alta Via 1 Dolomites in 7 Days

We hiked the Alta Via 1 in reverse. The only reason doing it in reverse was to avoid hiking in a queue - which might happen if you're hiking a popular route during the peak season. I really love the Dolomites, there's so much to explore there. Alta Via 1 is a great option because it's not too exhausting and the huts are cozy and the food is delicious! Also, Tour du Mont Blanc is amazing but it's more strenuous.
There is so much diversity in the landscapes: glaciers, lava fields, waterfalls, rivers... loved it

Hey! I'm filming with GoPro only and the audio recording isn't very good. I have been looking into external mics for the GoPro because I'd like to try to make videos with the original and natural sounds.
@@laueronen I like them a lot. A guy called Harmen Hoek makes hiking videos with impeccable use of audio. Check him out! I mean, his audio is like an art in itself.

Hi i was there betw 10 and 14 mai. Amazing trails and landscapes. Unfortunatly i couldnt do all the trails i wanted to because they war closed because of dangerous snow parts. I want to go back to do the "faja de las flores". But instead i did an other amazing trail from the parking spot of San Nicolas de Bujaruelo to the ibon de Bernatuara. That was also so amazing to do. The last few kms i hiked in the snow to have again an amazing view over that frozen lake and the invironment. Nice video.
There's so many routes to explore, definitely I need to go back there!

Great video. How did you get to the start, were you traveling from Venice? I arrive on Sunday and need a gas canisters, the screw on type, do you know if I could find one.Thx so much for the video and your assistance. I've been debating south north for awhile. It looks like camping would be tough at the northern end.

What size of pack did you use and what size would you recommend?
@@ricktourand2234 I have a 50 liter backpack and Julio has a 60l. When we camp and carry most of our food those backpacks has been perfect. Also, when I do solo hikes with my own tent I can fit everything well in the same pack, because it expands by 10liters. Hope that helps! 😊

Hi! Thanks for the great guide in your web site! Could you please also share what were the prices for food in the refugios?
The food at the refugios was €5-€15, from sandwiches or pastries to proper plates of pasta for example.
How difficult was it to find a spot? Any issues with camping ?
We like to camp where we can have a water source, and only one day was a bit difficult to find good water source. When you vivac in a responsable way it seems to be tolerated.
Looks amazing! Did you find you were coming across lots of people walking towards you because majority do it the other way? I’m tempted to go to south to north but will be camping anyway/ likely leaving at different times so maybe would be staggered and come across less people taking the more common direction. Any thoughts? Thanks! 😊
Usually it was half way through the day when we’d see the people hiking the other way. In the mornings and afternoon we didn’t see many people. Personally I’d rather do that than have a lot of people behind and in front of me at all times. 😄
Did you find that you ran into jams on the descents when most people were climbing up? Are there acceptable wild camping spots a bit before or after the last hut before lake Bries? Did you feel you were climbing most of the time each day? I actually prefer going up than down but wondering do you think it's that much tougher going south north? Thx again. I like not having to make a reservation at the lake
@@bkpktrekker4086 If you go south to north you’ll climb about 1000m more than doing it the other way. On our web page you can see the daily ascents and descents we did, also the graphs help to visualize what type of climbs you have each day. We didn’t have any problems with people doing it the opposite way, you pass them quickly.

Great trip, wonderful film. I notice the route takes you north before heading south to enter Zermatt. Are there routes that take you closer to the Matterhorn like the winter ski routes?
At least on our map I can't see an option to cross the mountain range on the south side.
