Dexter Avenue Baptist is in Montgomery, Alabama not Mobile. Cool video though
You’re absolutely right! Thank you for pointing that out and contributing to the community ✊🏾
Both were correct, BTW was more underground, while WEBD was more surface.🤔
the SPELMAN & ROCKEFELLER 💰💰 = 👿👿
Great mini-documentary but the title is misleading.
Oh and Claflin was pronounced wrong in this video. My grandmother is an alumnist of that institution. It’s pronounced Claflin (short a sound ).
Tell your Grandma we apologize for the mispronunciation. Thank you for helping us out ✊🏾
@ ok , she is greener pastures now , we thank you though!!!
Here is a few more facts that people hide about MLK He plagiarized his Dr. Thesis @ Boston University He was not a Christian He was excommunicated from National Baptist Convention 1961 He was a communist sympathizer along with Rosa Park The Civil Rights Movement was orchestrated and funded by Jews He first love was a white woman name Betty Moritz He was funded by the Zionist He was a devout womanizer including prostitute The I have a Dream Speech came from Archibald Carey. Theses are a few facts that MLK worshippers hide
Our hair as indigenous aboriginal true people's of trutle Island is sacred to the land, sacred to our spirit, sacred to who we actually are, not what the Europeans has tried to make us into......
One day our people will wake up from this hijack. The crayon colors white and black were constructed as social constructs. No one on this planet is actually the color BLACK. Look at an employment application, it state's in plain sight, black or African American. Look up what the word black means, nothing positive at all. Finally, how did it start, savages, mulatto, negro, colored, black, African-American. Stop believing HIS STORY people. It is a complete LIE......
This doc is not historically accurate
Booker T was completely wrong and way to connected to white folks
6:57 his mother was American Indian. There was no such thing as an African American or a Native American during that time
If you want more fantastic truths about HBCUs I would research Lincoln University of Missouri - founded 1866 in the capital, Jefferson City, MO! Like actually being founded and paid for by former slaves (POW)! A year after Juneteenth.
We are graduates of Wiley College. Thank you for the video 🤎🤎🤎🤎👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching ✊🏾
No mention of the Garvey Movement?
We focused on the migration and explosion of art. However, please check out some of the videos we have done on the Great Marcus Garvey You've Been Lied To About Marcus Garvey... Here's The TRUTH ruclips.net/video/jPxvTgqUIVM/видео.html
I'm not sure how you can talk about HBCU's and not mention the nation's first degree-granting HBCU, Lincoln University of PA.
So many great HBCUs and stories behind them. What schools do you think we should cover in part 2?
@@blkballWiley College would be nice for the video. The Great Debaters was a top movie that starred Denzel Washington.
. It happened just like the Army experimented with LSD on black soldiers. And try to cover it up.
My mother was a North Carolina mutual insurance agent, she used to call her book every week
from my perspective as a black man. the black barbershops i have been in express the most republican-conservative views ever.
propaganda is a mf. divide & conquer, screw ya party, what’re your views & motives & do they aid or hinder mine.
I used to eat fried Chicken for breakfast
CLAY-FIN?
Wrong pronunciation!
What is the lie? There is no need to use click bait titles.
The horrors of slavery are a part of the history of virtually all ethnicities and tribes if the timeframe is pushed back far enough but certainly for blacks who lived in North America. While punishment and degradation were among the experiences of the enslaved people, other experiences were prevalent, as well. Slaves were taken from dozens of tribes so they spoke dozens of languages. Largely they could not speak with one another. After a few decades in North America, most slaves learned to speak English and children born in North America learned English as a first language. This was a mark of white domination, but it also enabled cohesion. Slave life mostly revolved around work. Slavery was a social order intended for the economic benefit of slave holders. Slave labor made slave holders wealthier. Work. was the primary focus, though many things were happening simultaneously. Slavery was so beneficial to slave holders that a few hundred thousand slaves were brought to mainland North America.
Just Google black owned and operated HBCU's
Actually, Oberlin University, founded in 1833 in Ohio first began admitting Black people in 1835 and women in 1837, so I don't think Claflin University is the first inclusive college.
Shout out to Cheyney! ❤
They were formed because African Americans could not go to white colleges in the south.and many southern white teachers did not want to teach them.
I am a proud Alumni of Morris Brown College which was owned and started by black people. Yes it is a real HBCU
HBCUs use textbooks like any other college. No matter what level you are on in education, you get out of it, what you put into learning!! No matter where you go to school, white college or HBCU, if you don't put effort in, you are going to learn NOTHING, so it's not about being institutionalized. I attended an HBCU, and I was an excellent student. I read my textbooks & I did my homework!! I enjoyed the social camaraderie with people that looked like me!! As long as your teachers care enough to teach you, and you do your part, then you will learn!!
Lots of girly looking male students! 😢
Just had to show the 2 Billion Dollar scamming $kamala 😮
She is not even black because she is East Indian.
I heard nothing about Fayetteville State University. It was started by black men in 1867.
There’s so much rich history and interesting stories behind HBCUs, I guess we have to do a part 2! Thank you for watching ✊🏾
Apparently the focus was on white founders of HBCUs

Hampton University ❤class of 2003
@ nice, class of 1994
1989. That year we were HIU!
Proud Pirate here!
These universities came about in the second land allocation just somewhere to put us away from them.
It might be even deeper history… Most HBCU’s are located on Indian land… And I’m talking about almost all of them in the south especially… Do some research, you might have to do some digging but 80% chance that it’s old Indian land, before civil rights
You have left out some significant Schools such as Talladega College in Alabama and Both Morgan State and Coppin State Universities. Thought that would be more meaningful than Home coming focus
Best documentary ever.
Dr Mary McLeod Bethune story should be told more often. She was determined and because of her I thank her. For giving myself, sister, daughters and cousins the opportunity to obtain a higher education and be able to thrive ❤
Thank you for sharing. We are working on that ✊🏾

CHECK YOUR FACTS ON CHEYNEY? LINCOLN UNIVERSITY WAS FOUNDED IN 1854 (as Ashmun Institute, BY THE NORTHERN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT ITS ANNUAL MEETING IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. it's purpose was "to confer college degrees to colored youth of the male sex" The first degrees were conferred in 1859. The 1837 date used by Cheyney is the date of the Institute for Colored Youth which was a high school for Black Girls established in 1837 by the Quakers .Its purpose was to teach them housekeeping skills. After moving around at several locations in Philadelphia, the ICY purchased the farm of John Cheney, about 20 miles from Philadelphia, in 1903. After the ICY closed in 1920, the state of Pennsylvania purchased the ICY land and buildings and opened its own State Normal School. At Cheyney. In 1951, it became Cheyney State Teachers College, and subsequently Cheyney University. After the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, on April 4, 1866, the Ashmun Institute asked the State of Pennsylvania for permission to change its name to"The Lncoln University." which was. granted. Needless to say, the ICY was still a High School located in Philadelphia when those degrees were conferred. Ironically, Cheyney and Lincoln are about 12 -15 miles from each other in southern Chester County, a medium drive from west Philadelphia.
ALL LIES ! STOP THE CAP !
@@voornaamachternaam5745 stop the CAP......
Didn't know many HBCUs are named after white people. Wish this would have went in order of founding. Thank you
These schools where created by the Rockefellers
Not beautified…….Be-At-ti-Fied!
Brown Paper Bag Test to HBCUs A look at admission practices for many of today's HBCUs reveals a woeful abuse of the black college mission and vision, an uneven exchange of student debt and continuing family hardship for tuition revenues and enrollment numbers. Historically black colleges and universities have been experts at distancing themselves from painful elements of their cultural past. One of those elements -- the brown paper bag admissions test. Propagated as urban legend but a real practice for some of our most reputable HBCU campuses, light complexion was once an admission qualification for college enrollment, and fraternity and sorority membership. The best candidates were as light as or lighter than the hue of a brown paper bag, ruler or other inanimate object brought to life with the task of adjudicating ethnic acceptance. Black folks today still suffer great growing pains to free ourselves of complexion-based valuation, but we've grown enough to cast it out from admissions standards at the HBCU. The thought of denying black people admission to a black college because of skin color seems beyond unforgivable; a direct arrow through the heart of the HBCU mission and cultural legend.
I clicked on this thinking it was goimg to be one of those "White people made HBCUs to keep black people down." As a HBCU graduate, I thoroughly appreciate the time, effort, research, and authenticity of this video. Its not pushing a narrative that anti-education people like to spew.
We really really appreciate that. ✊🏾
They were BOTH wrong because they divided the community instead of finding a way to work towards ONE goal and ONE objective.
I’m still stuck on Ms. Bethune starting a school with a $1.50. That’s a bag of chips today.
Yes sir Bethune cookman is my alma mater. Mary McLeod Bethune was a bad chick that was the truth ❤
A little bag to boot
