I've watched hours and hours of analysis on this series for years, and I can safely say that this is the best in-depth analysis I've ever seen. Thank you very much for putting together such a well-made video, both with the narration and editing but above all with the breakdown and your way of approaching your analysis. Besides that I can see that it involved actual social studies and properly applied to this series, you touched on points that I had not seen anyone else notice. I feel that it's one of those readings that every time you read, depending a little on what part of your life you repeat the reading, you can learn or notice different things, I read them once or twice a year and even then it doesn't stop surprise me how much you can continue learning or identifying through them each time Thank you for your dedication❤

I honestly loved Hob. I'm tired of the trope of immortals getting tired and depressed from life, or being inherently evil just because they want to live forever. Just by mere probability there should be at least one person who wants to be immortal not because they're evil, they simply must love life so much they wouldn't get tired of it, at least for a very, veeery long time.

    • @Dadum-bass

Sad, this show could have been fantastic like the comic that it was based on. However, it was made in the time of moronic wokeness, and that very wokeness pissed off the fan base. So much so that the show failed. If one can over look the moronic woke stupidity, it was not half bad. Too bad. Oh, and Gaiman showed us all that he is a woke cuck. What an idiot.

Thank you for this detailed analysis! I also find it interesting that his singular passion for his work not only helps connect him with people like Katherine, it even seems like it is the only reason he can connect with them in the first place. He starts visiting Katherine under the pretense of helping her in her dissertation, bringing her books and such. He also connects with his daughter this way, with her sitting in his study and them working together. After she is taken away by Edith, he struggles to connect with her at all until the end of his life. I think his work is the only reason he found a connection and love for his daughter and Katherine, so while it might seem negative that he is only focused on his work and nothing else, it does open doors for him and helps him find love :) like you or the author said, it is his identity.

Everyone praises Kirby Howell-Baptise's performance, to feel politically correct. Not only does she not act like Death, but that character must have been East Asian, or at least Asian-Caucasian. We all know that this was part of paying the Netflix toll, so, stop the hypocrisy. "Giving justice to black women and lesbians" was on their agenda, so they forced representation in as much as they could. She's a good actress either way. I'm only commenting because it's unnerving to see so many people jumping on the bandwagon for the sake of fell self-righteousness. And for those who want to quote Neil Gaiman, giving approval to this choice for the character... he knows his game. One of the main triggers of controversy and word-of-mouth publicity for the program was this casting decision. Rose Walker was another character who was meaninglessly blackwashed. The only sense I can see is so that there was no confusion in some way with Delirium... a character who could have switched races, and now will be important in the second season.

The gender and racial swaps is so over the top is actually infuriating, like, now Jon Constantine is a woman now? Death is black? Rose is black? I mean, at this point make your own universe with only black and gay people and leave the original IP alone, but Gaiman is on the pot, and he let it happen, like, what the hell man?
