i was lucky enough to be gifted a japanese pack before pokemon came to the states. it was magical, i'd never seen anything like it. i just got back into the hobby because i was going through things, found the old cards, then looked up value out of curiosity. i was floored at how "cheap" they were, and a bit surprised that japanese cards seemed to be quite a bit cheaper than english ones for whatever maddening reason lol i couldn't resist buying up some cards and it's been fascinating learning about how things have changed. our old japanese cards aged much better than our english. the beauty of the kanji adds such a wonderful touch to the cards too. aside from actually playing the game, i can't fathom why so many people prefer english. wasn't pokemon the first introduction to japanese culture for most fans? isn't most of the appeal of collecting these is the artistry of the cards? how many english speakers have even held a japanese card? shouldn't there be some mystique about it? a sense of rarity for english speakers? I don't get it lol but I'm definitely not complaining. I'm floored at how cheap some of these cards are. I hope the english side of this community doesn't catch on until i've been able to get most/all of the cards i want LOL i do suspect as millenials start to age, and as english fans start catching on to the perks of the japanese cards, that they'll become far more popular than english. in fact, i can't help but wonder if many japanese fans are biding their time anticipating this! ha! even the pulls themselves seemed better. although i don't like not being able to see an english name for the pokemon i don't recognize. it's kinda neat to get introduced to a pokemon by pulling them in a pack. but that's literally the only downside in my book lol

I donno, I actively play the game and I can't see the endgame of any collector, let alone investor. Why collect the cards other than for the art or specific Pokemon that is your favourite? Unless you are chasing an unhealthy dopamine rush with every thousands sunk in a set, all I can see is you will probably eventually sell your collection. I am personally not a fan but is not my choice to decide for you. I just buy the cards I will play in decent condition.

Try resubbing any that you think deserve a higher grade maybe even with a different grading company.

man, grading companies have been SOOOO picky lately. Fantastic cards though!

I guess it boils down to why you are into the hobby . Its probably a smart move to buy anything that is increasing in value like these cards do . Investors are buying vintage toys from Vectis auctions just for the value increases . I love cars and was lucky to buy 2 massive favourite cars around 15yrs ago . Both around 5 grand cars , now both around the 100 grand range . Surprisingly annoying though because i couldn't sell them as profit never entered my head 15yrs ago and now have 2 valuable cars i don't dare drive now just in case . (sierra cosworth and bmw e30 m3) Just enjoy doing what you enjoy doing if your collecting for pleasure and try 2 not let value cloud your fun .

Use your phone flashlight to look for sratches or imperfections! It's super easy to miss scratching or hidden damage with just the naked eye! Congrats on the return either way!

So you have the non holo, no texture Scream Munch promos also the Japan post art cards which this cards fits into that series so has to be non holo. Check the prices on those and that is the price these will be.

My sons 8 yr old collects Pokemon I chanced it and paid £140 yesterday hopefully a good investment for him when he’s no longer a child 🤝

I am still holding out hope to get one. The card will be distributed with selected retailers in the Netherlands and Belgium somewhere beginning of 2024 when buying tcg. Will probably get scalped as well, but hey, at least there will be more cards out there.
