    AI!!!! how could you use that devilish thing??? I'm just kidding of course. As a first pass editor, or a spelling and grammar check, its a fantastic tool. I think the only morally grey area of using AI is to have it do the writing for you, then pass it off as your own. But as a basic editor, there is no real difference between it and a spell check in word. It's just faster. Otherwise, a good video. Thank you.

    Hi Rachel, Thank you. This is the most helpful and sound advice I have found. I've recently started doing my first draft quickly, with no edits. I even successfully used Dragon and Google to dictate some of it. I don't re-read it now, except to see where I am up to and occasionally remind myself of a minor character name. My previous attempts are sitting in a drawer, stalled, waiting patiently. Question:- Do you write a chapter and then tidy it up? Or do you do the whole book first?

    • @authorrachelmorton
      @authorrachelmorton Месяц назад

      Thank you for watching and sorry for my late, late reply. To be honest, it varies. Sometimes I will blast right through the book, but other times, I find I like to go slow and tidy up each chapter as I go.

      It’s something I’ve been looking into, but not at the moment. Mostly, I was toying with a very cheap writers club. I really hate to charge people who want to learn lots of money. I remember starting out and courses and things were always £500 and up. It was very frustrating for things to be so inaccessible

  • @DianaWilliams-q1f

    Say new paragraph and also, I say period, rather than full stop.

    • @authorrachelmorton
      @authorrachelmorton 2 месяца назад

      If I remember to say period, I do. But I’m English and so we call it full stop and when you’re in flow, it’s hard to remember to use American instructions 😊

    Very helpful video. I tried Dragon in the past. It was so inaccurate, I gave up. I gave up on Word for the reasons you mentioned. My computer has been at the repair shop, so I've been writing by hand. I was dreading typing 35 pages when it comes back. Now I have a solution. Thanks!

  • @momo_genX
    @momo_genX 4 месяца назад

    Over describing only pisses me off when it's done in a sentence which obviously over describes to the point of breaking rhythm to add an adjective or adverb in a connotative flow. The AI is strong now, but it still can't balance out all the different nuances which makes honest prose human.
