Cass Scenic Railroad Shay 4: The East Fork Express!
July 26 brought up an interesting opportunity to go to a place I have never been before. The Cass Scenic Railroad is really the definition of West Virginia. Almost Heaven!
Special thanks to Jerry, Tristan, Cayden and Trevin for dragging me down here!

Steam to Olyphant With Baldwin 26
Просмотров 4535 месяцев назад
On June 20, 2024, Steamtown NHS ran a public excursion to Olyphant, PA which is North of Dickson City, and south of Peckville. Although we had only caught them at a few locations along the line, this was still a fun chase to do. Be sure to check out Steamtown and The Iron Horse Society as they put on excursions through the Lackawanna Valley. Links to the both of them are below. Enjoy! Iron Hors...

Beautiful coal as God intended.
What whistle does she have on?
Beautiful
You are the last person I’d expect to be on this kind of video
Imagine R&N trains going to steamtown in the future one day too!
@@brianfalzon6739 I sure hope so as well, but the Alco's are also cool to see!
Great video! On a normal day what time did NRFF get to Tamaqua going southbound?
@@rnrailproductions5049 thanks! I believe it hits around 9:30? But I could be wrong
Nice video. The horn on that SD50 at 08:41 has seen better days!
Very cool video captures, enjoyed that very much! Cheers! (Dave).
Thanks Dave! I appreciate it!
@@Keystone_State_Rail_Films Your very welcome.
26 still holds the record for the loudest air compressor.
It’s ashame it’s not fall with the trees in different colors but still beautiful. Thank you
Awesome 😊
What a super cool chase, I love it! (Dave).
you were standing right beside the owner of miniprints during the first passing shot. I was straight across from you. were you wearing the Conrail hoodie?
no better engine than a steam engine
Was that a Budd RDC?! I didn't think there were any left in the world that were still operational
The R&N features them on their runs from Reading to Jim Thorpe every weekend, they leave Reading Outer Station at 9am Saturdays and Sundays, go check them out!
Awesome catch, well done!
Thank you much!
Amazing video!
Thank you so much!
That was a super cool video, love Steam power. What a cool treat! (Dave).
Thanks as always, Dave!
@@Keystone_State_Rail_Films you're welcome

How’s 18s rebuild coming along
Great video! We were able to catch them also. - Jenny
Thats great! Was nice to see both of yalls that weekend!
Your very welcome.@@Keystone_State_Rail_Films
Great video that’s a great photo of those people with number 90 right there. Whose dome is that on the ground?
Thanks for the comment! I am unsure on whose dome that is on the ground. Could be 90's but I'm unsure.
I was there on the 22 filming that same train
Great catches and awesome video
Here's to hoping they can put her back in service.
It'll be back, don't worry
What does fibale mean? Is she to be retired or just done for the season?
1472 inspection
It means she has to go in for her mandatory 4 year inspection and overhaul
Which is going to take time because there are currently restoring a Long Island Railroad G5 and one of the original switcher engine
Rest well, old #90 🫡
It ain't going to be long before she's back.
90: I'll be back!
Very cool video and enjoyed watching once again. Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday.(Steve)
Thanks Steve for tuning in!
Your very welcome.@@Keystone_State_Rail_Films
5 chime on 26
Steamtown should take a page out of R&Ns book. Put the GP on one end and 26 on the other. Then run all the way to Moscow like they used to. The yard jostling is so boring.
Fantastic video. God bless 🙏
Awesome whistle on 26
I agree
Wow
Awesome video and enjoyed watching. Have a wonderful rest of your Holiday weekend.(Steve)
What year did #26 begin operation? Are there any elegant Pullman cars on the rails that would of been in operation during the 1900- 1912 era? I'm developing a feature film about the Carlisle Indian School in Carlisle Pa., and it calls for a lot of trains and trolley cars.
26 was built in 1929 and worked at the Eddystone plant for Baldwin. The CNJ coaches were built in the early-mid 1920’s
@@lackawannarailfan Thanks for the information.
Would appreciate a description of the locomotive: year built, which manufacturer, power, class, etc. please...
I think it’s about 100 years old, ALCO, around 750 HP, 2-6-0, high class. Any other questions? Cole burner
CNJ #113 makes the journey. Slipping and sliding in the process. It's off to Minersville. CNJ #113 is a beautiful steam locomotive. Thanks for showing us this.
Great 2 part catches and awesome video
Merry Christmas and happy holidays
Great catches and awesome video [westley]
My FAVORITE Steam Locomotive!! ❤❤❤❤ The 2102. 💪💪🫶🫶👍👍
Like seeing these live steam excursions! Locomotive 113 seems to be a nice 0-6-0 steamer, and you have a fine set of well matched passenger cars with a good looking caboose following. Some of these Track sections look like they need maint. Watch at 7:37 where the locomotive is slowly rocking back & forth as it moves along. I know the 0-6-0 tends to shift+rock a bit more with no pilot wheels (more like a switcher engine) but the diesel loco in back also rocks as it goes away in the shot. If these are just lean/tilt, then not dangerous... but can lead to rail shift and gauge/witdth changes. In addition to keeping the engines & rolling stock in good shape, it is important to maintain tracks (before things get worse) to prevent derailment, delays, damage, or injury.
