Thanks for the video particularly the EQ settings explanation. As a strictly ammeter two channel listener I don't even use headphones though your instructions still help as they apply equally to the speakers. The "Rich feature set" was my main reason for buying the ADI-2 FS , I felt that even if I chose a potentially better sounding DAC at the same price with the versatility of the RME if I could not Achieve a sound I loved it would be my fault not the DAC's . I don't know where I went wrong but after experimenting with the settings over the fist few weeks I had ruined my settings, eventually I found the Factory reset and for over a year since I have had it set as it came out the box(Filters aside). By now I have a verry expensive sound system with every component chosen with only one criteria: "Disappear". The RME (though potentially a sound tweak opportunity ) like everything else, was chosen so that as far as possible the only factor influencing my sound will be my choice of valves in my valve amps. (Actively looking for a Single ended Valve Amp(s) that I can "Tube Role" the same range of valves as my Prima Luna uses. Unlike most DAC's it features a proper pre amp out so Power Amp only, or Integrated valve amp Advice welcome). Since spending my latest £1300 on my sound system I have finally achieved my life long ambition of Perfect cristal clarity. Ironically the problem with this delightful transparency is that albums that you may have known in my case for up to 50 years or more are littered with "Sound Bombs". On one recording (I can't remember at the moment) smack bang in the middle of the sound stage someone is tapping on a metal pipe ruining a familiar track(😃Mabey I will name one of the 99 per output EQ pre-sets after that particular track and utterly kill that verry narrow frequency and get rid of that pipe). Anyway I enjoyed your video so I thought you might be interested in another perspective.

Indeed a linear power supply is a must, by the way, I no longer use the preamplifier. The loudness function works perfectly, you hear no difference if you turn the DAC up or down, 50 dB or 90 dB sounds exactly the same, only the sound pressure changes

You never talked about adjusting bass and treble. That’s what I need.

How much was the gauge of the wire ?

Does it work with Alexa or google home? I mean, for example if I tell alexa to play one song in the living room and the kitchen, will it do it?

We will try to add it, but the SRT-4 is both Spotify Connect and Apple Airplay2 compatible too. So once if either of those are you source of choice, once the app has done all the set up there is little need to got back to it.

this is much more than a headphone amp - I own the very same and you cant get a better dac unless you spent a four digit number for this alone ... a parametric eq is also not to get for a cheap price ... all this combined this is a real steal

Locking mechanisms on connectors are not a feature but a terrible idea: if you trip on a cable you can cause a tragedy. A magnetic lock is the perfect solution, it keeps the connector in place but safely detaches when pulled. After discovering that kind of mechanism on my Surface I keep wondering why it hasn't become the standard for every appliance out there, at least expensive ones.

I know its a DAC with some AMP in it. But I read that the power is limited so as not to damage low impedance headphones. Can it drive (reletively) high impedance headphones such as the HD 800S or will they sound under-driven and bright?

Walk into any Professional Recording Studio an there is a good chance they will own a RME audio interface, this is there DSD/DAC Reference model. SO you can guarantee its quality, durability and reliability its state of the art. The PRO version gives you 2x headphone outputs analogue outputs each with their own DAC chip its almost unrivalled. I doubt any DSD/DAC is better, no matter what it costs.
