You’re welcome. I already got my game plan sorted. I’ll be doing the Ultimate Edition, too, and my first playthrough is going to be my dedicated Chloe Faithful playthrough. A lot of people seem to be sceptical and/or confused about how the game acknowledges their choices, so I already committed to writing a spoiler-free breakdown of how it’ll actually work on my Tumblr, and there are other early players who will probably be doing something similar. Other than that, I’m going to experiment. You saw the livestream, there are hints that there will be new optional romances for Max, and although I primarily ship Pricefield, I have a lot of Max and Chloe ships I’m into, and I’m not opposed to that list growing longer. Plus, there’s a part of me that needs to see Bay Max get the happy sapphic romance she deserves. I didn’t know I needed it before, but now that it seems like I’m getting it, I need to see it to heal that old wound that ending left me. Of course, there’s some questions I have about that. Unless it’s Safi, I’m seeing two versions of the same person in different timelines. How does that work in practice? Do I romance one or both? Does that count as cheating? Will I be ghosting one version of her when I’m forced to stick to one timeline at the end? What if the killer targets her? What if she IS the killer? I’m not too worried about Chloe. I suspect she just has her own life that isn’t always compatible with Max’s so they do long distance and see each other on and off. And the game’s set during winter break, so Chloe will probably visit Max, or she’s left to pay a visit to David. Given the game has to accomodate both endings, Chloe has to have limited presence, and naturally the devs are going to keep exactly what it is close to their chests. And if I’m Max, I’m glad Chloe’s not around when there’s another killer at large and I’m messing with my powers again. There’s one last thing I wanted to mention. I was going to bring it up eventually because I wasn’t sure if you knew, but there are Life is Strange comics. I don’t know if LiS:DE will consider them canon, but there are six volumes following Bae Max as she ends up temporarily stranded in another timeline that’s very different from any she’s seen before. There are new characters, some with powers of their own. A few returning faces as well. Max finally gets a chance to meet Rachel in a timeline where she is alive and living her life. And of course, proper Pricefield kisses that are purely expressions of love, if you get what I mean. I’ve read them digitally, but I recently ordered physical copies.

Not an uncommon occurrence in this industry. Games take years to develop, and a lot naturally changes between the initial concept and the final product, and delays are common for any number of reasons. And I don’t imagine studios and publishers make a habit of coordinating their release dates with their competitors. I’m not bothered by it either. I know I’m playing both anyway. One thing did occur to me to me though. 30th January 2025 will be the tenth year anniversary of when the first episode of Life is Strange released. I don’t know if Don’t Nod is looking at a release date close to that symbolic date, or if they’ll be looking for an late February to March date because of it.

She’s 28 in this game, so to see her at the age, makes me feel old, like we’ve seen this woman grow up! 😁😁

Imagine two power baddies in the same game, adult Rachel Amber and adult Max Caulfield, both survived the dark room and many other things as they grew up, I can’t wait to see where this game will take us! 🥹💕🫶🏻✨🥰

Max is 28 in Double Exposure.

True Colors looked good, but Double Exposure looks like a visual leap forward for the Life is Strange franchise. The detail in Max's character design is incredible. It's the same Max we know and love, but she's appropriately aged for what I'm guessing is a woman in her late 20s. The first game took place in 2014 (when Max was 18), a year before the game's release date in 2015. If this game takes place in 2023 (a year before its release date), Max would be approximately 27 years old. I wonder if the developers have chosen a canon ending for Life is Strange or if they're going to ask the player at the beginning of Double Exposure what their final choice was and then incorporate it in some way (maybe with a line or two of dialogue from Max). I chose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, so I'd like to see that acknowledged in Double Exposure. But I'll understand if the choice to save Arcadia Bay is the canon one. Something I hope to see in Double Exposure is an explanation for the powers these different characters have. A possible explanation was hinted at in the first Life is Strange but never expanded upon. It's cool to just go with the flow and accept that a character has powers for some unexplained reason; but at some point, I want to know how Max and the others can do the things they do.

Already pre-ordered. Max is a very important character to me, I don’t think I’ve ever related so much to someone, fictional or otherwise. And that first game was very transformative for me, quite literally seeing as it lead me on the path to discovering my trans identity. Even my youtube handle is inspired by the game. Also, I started my Tumblr blog by writing at length about each of the choices in the game and why I made them. So we have some questions, and I was able to find some answers, but first, let’s talk about the established precedent. Both Life is Strange 2 (which I barely played at all) and True Colors asked the player whether they played the original game and if they did, what choice did they make. I imagine this game will follow the same precedent but based on the video description on the trailer, this is a new setting so we likely won’t be seeing much of anybody from Arcadia Bay. We might get a brief appearance from her significant other but it’s not like they’ll be attached to her at the hip. As for the video description, it says Max is a photographer-in-residence at Caledon University. So Max is living at the university, in a faculty dorm by the sounds of it, so even if she’s dating or even married to Chloe (or the other guy), she’s probably not living with them for the time being. The description also refers to Safi as “her closest new friend”, meaning Max is surrounded by a lot of new people and friends she hasn’t known for long. Most likely this means her position at the university is a recent development. It works out, because we’re trying to solve/prevent a murder and won’t know who to trust. We’ll learn about the people of interest and suspects as Max does. On the flip side, to everyone else, Max is the unknown factor and any unusual behaviour from her will be viewed with suspicion. As for her power, according to the description she hasn’t used it in years, and now it works differently. My hypothesis is her power developed this way because on some subconscious level Max doesn’t want to repeat the same mistake she made with Chloe. So instead of trying to change time, her power is allowing her to explore parallel timelines. The comics explored a similar idea, where Max ended up stuck in a different timeline from the one with her Chloe for a while. This provides different possibilities, because now Max makes choices that affect one timeline but not the other, and some people will probably behave differently. Finally, it seems this game will do things similar to True Colors, where the full game will be released at once, yet will still be broken into episodes or chapters. The Ultimate Edition will apparently allow players to play the first two chapters two weeks ahead of release, so beware early spoilers.

So we had watched this first before the new Life is Strange trailer came out, but hadn't gotten a chance to post it until now. In case you were wondering why we said it's been a while haha. 😋

I am so hype for Max returning for life is strange. After this game gets more love. I hope in the future we get another story of Sean and Daniel retuning to continue there story,

Great playthrough as always...thanks! Glad you'll be doing the bonus episode...it has the original voice actresses returning, yay! FYI...there is some combination of choices that leads to Sera appearing at the lighthouse in the final montage and Rachel running to hug her. I'm not exactly sure how to achieve that...not many get that outcome. As far as the almost 50/50 split of the percentage of people who choose the final decision...just like the final decision of the first game....I think that's probably because nearly everyone goes back to at least see what the other choice is out of curiosity.

That was certainly a painful scene. Btw the place they are in is "the Old Mill" from the beginning of the game, where Chloe meets Rachel at the Firewalk concert. If you remember Frank tells Chloe that it burned down and Damon lost a lot of money. So this is the same building all burned out. The scene that you just began before stopping the recording is the most misunderstood of the game...the abrupt transition and the dreamy tone lead a lot of people to think it's a dream and that Sera is dead. So I'll just tell you so you know Sera is not dead...Damon's intention was to get her hooked again, not kill her, and this is real not a dream. I hope you guys continue after this with the bonus episode Farewell! Thanks again for your delightful playthrough!

As far as the whole "having powers" thing is concerned...I heard that the devs considered that but kind of steered away from that in the end. However, if you pay close attention you will notice that there seems to be a relationship between Rachel and the forest fire, certainly symbolically and also in a more realistic way. I can't take credit for this: someone else wrote an article about this game and pointed out that Rachel is "seraphic", a fiery angel type (her mother's name is no coincidence)...which lends ambiguity to Chloe's relationship with her...does she uplift? Does she destroy? Does she transform? The viewer has to decide. And then there of course are whatever themes The Tempest brings up with the whole Prospero Ariel thing...I don't really know that play, but if thinking of stories in terms of themes and motifs interests you it might be interesting to look into that some more.

Hey play chapter 7 on life is strange before the storm

Hey I'm famous! I knew you would love this scene. Definitely a magical highlight of the game. Yeah, I think Victoria was supposed to have drunk the tea, but the way they animated it, it looks like she barely touched it. For an answer to your question about Nathan and Samantha ( not spoiling, and I'm not sure anyway because it varies depending on playthrough choices) but at some point later in the game Chloe will be in a hospital corridor ...while there, be alert for the chance to listen to a conversation through a door.

So just to clarify, that was Damon Merrick, not the guy who punched Chloe at the beginning, but that guy was part of Damon's gang. Damon's basically the Big Bad in this game, the ringleader of the dog-fighting, drug dealing network in town. The money that Chloe was sent to get from the room was money that Drew owed Damon, not Frank. Frank was just using his connection with Chloe to help get it for him. It just happened that Damon came to try and get it from Drew at the same time.
