how good to see Antari as we all know her work and contributions she makes to QQT. Both your miniatures amazing the miniature quilts always amaze me I find it hard to understand how anyone can do things so detailed in such a small area, time I looked at the class I am sure that is what you are thinking Philippa!! Also good to see Diane`s quilt too. Thanks Philippa for making the video for those of us too old to get to the shows anymore

I watched a video of a woman who tested several kinds of pressing solutions, water, steam, Best Press, etc., to see which, if any, of them shrank or distorted the block. One or two didn’t change anything, but the ones that did only changed the block literally by a thread or two, which makes zero difference in a quilt. So, use whatever you want and press on, my quilting friends.

Philippa I've just looked it up and the wadding i used was - Vlieseline 268 Bamboo mix 50/50 - i got a whole role from Empress Mills. XXX

To @Linda Lang regarding Bottom Line thread. As it's for winding bobbins it will usually come in larger size spools / cones. You can put that spool / cone behind your machine on a thread stand to be able to use it in your needle if that's what you want and of course to wind your bobbins.

Hope you don't mind but Güterman is not Gutter - but Gueter -man or Gooter -man:) Just think Gutter doesn't sound very nice either lol. Apologies but I did German O level . Thanks for the live questions and answers it is so helpful x

I'm now watching the Live back as I couldn't last night. Thanks for the comments on the applique, I will now go back to producing more samples and maybe being a bit braver with contrasting threads 😵‍💫

Regardless of how you press your seams, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, backstitch when you start and stop your seam. It will save you time and headache as you handle your quilt top. I’ve had to learn the hard way. Never again!

I too baste on the design wall and use a 6" x24" ruler to help smooth out, the backing fabric I pin at the top. Then admit I use basting spray with my windows open for the next two layers. No more floor for me :)

I discovered your channel just now and am thrilled! Will share with all my quilting friends. I’ve used Superior Threads for a long time but have used 50 wt So Fine top and bottom. I’m going to take your advice and try the Bottom Line and silk. Now, for a little binge watching . . .

when you are sewing jelly roll strips together and sub cutting there is no way to reinforce the beginning and end of the seam though.

Yay, we've been to the Mining Museum a couple of times now and really enjoyed it (and I am horribly claustrophobic) - learned so much. Living next door to Stoke on Trent we're in what used to be the Pits N Pots area (collieries and potteries) and it's always good to find out about our industrial heritage.
