wait. Why did they remove the Nick and mom fight. That conversation hit deep and relates to most of us asian kids. It also speaks volume! I cried at the part where Nick said he needed her presence as a mom. Most asian kids couldn't even say that to their parents who left them to their grandparents care. Tiger in-laws are common in the asian household so I understand why the mom made a sacrifice to give his son away. But when she said that leaving him was worth it, it hurts for Nick (which it also hurt for us, asian kids). That classic “We sacrifice a lot for you.” That guilt tripping became our fuel to prioritize family before ourselves and others. And the part where the mom also says, “what about others that relies on us?” It explains why asians are collectivist because asian should stand as a community.
