Half-in half-out piked
it's kind of an Arabian double front piked 1/2 out. The version with no 1/2 out is E rated and named after Li Ya and Carlotta Giovannini. So the 1/2 out version would theoretically be F rated but it's not clear if this dismount was credited this way (I'm not sure it's even in the COP). A full twisting double pike dismount would have a full twist done in layout position then two double pikes (like on FX and BB).

Maybe that's why before the 2008 Olympics, Li Ya wrote a small editorial explaining why she was rooting for Nastia to win the Uneven Bars gold despite He Kexin and Yang Yilin being in the running for gold there.

Nastia has said she watched the Chinese on bars- especially the pirouetting skills- and modeled her style after them. Even today they are still the best at multiple pirouetting skills.

Why wasn’t she selected for Seoul 88? She was old enough to compete right? Also, she had trouble with the double tuck dismount for a long time, why didn’t her coaches change it to a double twist/2.5 twist dismount?
Inconsistency unfortunately. It was a hallmark of her career sadly.
Loved the fluidity and complex artistic choreography of Chinese beam back in those days. What happened? Sigh.

Adjusted for the code today, the D value would be a 6.1 if you credit that as a layout Jaeger. A 6.0 with it credited pike. For comparison, 2019 world championship uneven bar finalist from her country, Liu Tinting, has a 6.0 D value on bars when she hits every connection, and Simone Biles routine has the D value of a 6.2 on bars! This is so ahead of its time!
Okay I have a question.. I'm new to this sport.. wouldn't she lose points for not hitting the handstand at 180 degrees properly these days? Btw I'm not hating this was an amazing routine to watch, so much rhythm in her swing..beautiful!
@@kate74808 Yes her handstand positions would get hammered today, but they didn't really get deducted that much for them back then. It wasn't until 2006 when they introduced the open-ended scoring that handstand positions became much more critical.
That D value is not correct. Here she does the Healy, Ling and Ono, which was allowed back in 2003. Under the 2024 COP (and under the 2021 COP which was in place when you wrote the comment), it is not permissible to perform both the Ling and Ono, meaning that her Ono (E) would not count. She could though swap the Ono for another pirouette, such as a giant 1.5 (D)
