Mr. Kyle's Orchids

This will be an evolving channel. There will be soap and orchids. Orchids may take over at some point. As much as I enjoy making soap, orchids take me to my happy place. Like and subscribe if you dare...
I need to add that I have been killing Phalaenopsis for over 30 years. It wasn’t until June of 2023 that the orchid bug bit me and now I am consumed. I went from 8 Phalaenopsis to over 100 orchids of all different species. My channel will be mostly a showcase for my orchids. If you are looking for orchid tips I am not the one you seek. I hope you enjoy your time on my channel. Welcome!

Mounts & Orchids | November 2024
I cut a couple of old dead Crepe Myrtle branches to use as mounts. I've had the idea for a while but not the orchids. Luck had it that Lowe's had some at a Loe's that only has had Phals.
The orchids are not showing signs of new growth, so the transfer to the branches/mounts will have to wait.
I hope you enjoy the video! Share it if you do and leave me a comment.

Bag Baby Orchid Repot & Some Blooms | November 2024
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.14 дней назад
On a whim I had an idea for a bag baby and hoped that my local Lowes would have one, alas they did. I have not had luck with the seedlings from Better Gro. I have killed 10! I do not have much hope for this one, BUT I have a totally evolved outlook towards media for most of my orchids. I have noticed that the orchids I have repotted into inorganic material such as rocks, charcoal, lava, or a co...
Orchids V. Kyra Green 'Minghus' AM/AOS & Onc. Sharry Baby Sweet Fragrance Am/AOS | October 2024

Both these have bloomed in my care. I waited a year for the Sharry Baby to bloom because I unknowingly bought a young plant. I also had no idea that it would take the flower spikes four months to mature enough to bloom! I was so excited when I saw the spikes in June I exclaimed, "We'll have flowers in July!" The joke was on me. After no flower buds formed in August, I looked up how long it took...
Orchids Indoors | October 2024

I had to bring them all in for the winter. It was stressful, I won't lie! I had to rearrange an entire room and buy a rack and new lights. I purchased a new humidifier and humidity trays for the rack/shelving. I am thrilled with the setup. The humidifier does a great job keeping the room at or above 60%. The lights are great and read well above the minimum requirements for the Vandas and Cattle...

My Dendronbiums. There are 25 in the video, and I have one that didn't make it because it is so new. So, yes, 26 Dendrobiums, soon to be 27. One is in shipment from none other than eBay. It's a Den. laevifolium x sib. A species Dendrobium. Small with long-lasting pink flowers. Some of these Dens will eventually get too big for me. I will deal with that when it happens. I honestly didn't think I...

Really gorgeous flowers! I never noticed how much I like the shape of this one. And I always love that the backside is often different
Good ideas. Your orchid good healthy.
Very nice flowers blòom.
I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thank you!
Beautiful indoor plants
Thanks for watching!
Rocks!.......thats crazy......lol......love the editing, the blooms, your set up.....and your success!......soaking orchids is probably one of my favorite things to do.......
LOL...bet you can't guess where I got the idea! Every orchid I have repotted in inorganic media is doing better then the ones I have in bark. Because I tend to like to water, it really helps too. I should do a short on the roots that liitle guy has put out since the video, it's wild how much they have grown!
.......vandas are a real test of a growers dedication to their plants.......getting them to grow is hard for many, and getting them to bloom is even harder......Yours are doing both.......great work my friend!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
.......Kyle,..you are slamming the growth on those orchids, they seem very happy!.....Love the set up and their color and blooms say a lot about the light they are getting......those tolumnias have doubled in size.....great update!
I am really happy with the new lights! They are a huge improvement for sure! Thank you for stopping by!
Every now and then I get a glimpse of your dendrobium pendulum. Has it ever bloomed? It's at the top of my wish list! 💚😊
It hasn't bloomed yet but it is a favorite to look at! It has what may be a bud so maybe it will bloom soon. It is a recent purchase. I'll do a short if it does bloom.
@MrKylesorchids yes please!
The first time I had to listen to my voice as I was editing, it was so cringe to listen to myself back. 😆do what makes you feel comfortable. It can take some getting used to, I really enjoyed this video, but I also like your other ones 👍🏼I love the spotted clown! Great name and the colors / shape of the blooms are right up my alley! 😍That phal spike is ambitious 😅🥳 great video! Have a great day 🫶🏼
😁 You are the best! I did kind of get used to it as I went along, I really thought it would make editing quicker...but wrong! Funny... I have announced entire ice shows at the rink BUT I drop an octave a give it a little announcer vibe. But I can't do that for these videos. The rink announcing is short and sweet and no one really knows it me. any who... I am very happy you enjoyed the video and took the time to comment! I know you are a busy human! Have a great day or evening and I look forward to your videos!
As soon as you emptied that pot and started over I knew I'd enjoy this channel.. that's me all day, every day whether I pot or mount! Constantly wrestling bugs and struggling to keep my orchids alive and somehow they do, and actually thrive!😂 Thoroughly enjoyed.. your blooms are amazing! 😘👌🏼
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do that with every repot! I am happy it made you smile! Have a great day and thank you for watching!
0:51 I got one like this from Logee's this year. It was kind of hard to hear the possible name in the video though.
Hi Joe! I believe it is Phal Art Nouveau. The pot had Magic Art on it and I looked it up it is very similar. But Phal Art Nouveau looks identical. Thank you for stopping by and watching! Hope you have a great day!
Beautiful ❤️ I really like your indoor grow shelf setup with lights. How many hour of light per day do you give your orchids? How do you mount the lights to keep water from dripping on the lights? Or do you take the orchids elsewhere to water them? It would be interesting to see a video on how you set up your indoor grow space. It might give other folks ideas with could borrow. Your collection sure looks happy. Thank you.
Hi Mary! Thank you for watching! I am a complete rookie at growing orchids so take any information with a grain of salt. Sit back because this is a long one... I can grow my orchids for almost six months outside and need to bring them in during the Fall. Because I watch a lot of different orchids RUclipsrs I collected ideas from many on how to improve my indoor grow space. I have collected a lot of new orchids since they were inside last winter. The space needed some space for everyone! Over the summer I made mental plans and collected what I needed. I found the rack on Webstraurant at a good price and while watching Orchids by Bryan I noticed he had something interesting under his plants. So I asked him what they were because they seemed to be collecting water, they are humidity trays from Waldor Orchids. They had the sizes I needed so I got those for under my plants so I don't worry about watering the orchids. Each tray holds 2 gallons of water and by the time I water again most of that has evaporated. I don't have them under my orchids on my window sill, they just have saucers. The lights are from Temu of all places. I found Barrina lights at great price and bought way more than I need. I know they are getting enough light but I don't know exactly the lux and stuff like that. I did download a light measuring tool, Photone, which has been helpful. The lights are zip tied to the rack above them and the humidity tray keep water from dripping on them. The top light I have hanging from the ceiling with cup hooks. The lights do not weight much. Keep in mind I am a complete beginner and have not learned all the science yet. I feel fortunate that I have not killed everyone of my plants! So sorry if I bored you! And maybe I should do a how I got there video. I will work on that for the future. Thanks again for watching and I hope you have a great evening!
@ Thanks for sharing and it didn’t bore me at all. I’m always looking at how other folks grow to pick up ideas. I bring mine in for 6 months too and have a greenhouse, but neighbors’ trees now shade it so I’m looking for ideas on how to add lights to my shelves (similar to yours but from Amazon Basics). It looks like you’ve got a very good set up. 😀
I truly hope you enjoy this video! I’m not fond of my speaking voice, which is why I often showcase blooming orchids set to music. I understand that some people may not prefer this style, but others do. Please share your thoughts in the comments! In the meantime, I hope you have a great day!

Thanks for watching! I really do appreciate it! I hope you have a great day!
Such a wonderful display of blooms going into the dreary winter months! 😁🙈🌺 That Brassavola hybrid looks so much like my Walter August which I fell in love with more for the fragrance than the bloom 😂 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching! I am not a fan of pink but I like this one because of the spotting and that it's mostly white. It does have a great scent but only at night and it seemed stronger when it bloomed outside for me this summer. This time it is faint. I just happy it bloomed for me inside! Hope you have a great day!
@ Yes, I find that same “issue”. A lot of times if I have a fragrant orchid I will take her into the sunlight so she will really release that scent. Because otherwise it’s faint like you said. Have an awesome day too!
Woow beautiful
Thanks! Sorry for the late reply! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

No talking, don't like this video
Thank you for taking the time to make a comment. Good or bad I welcome them. You will notice, if you watch more of my videos, I do not talk because I don't have a good talking voice. Therefore I have to spend a lot of time editing by adding text and getting the pictures of every orchid I own so that others can see what the blooms look like. It would be easier to just talk about each one and it would save a lot of time. I do spend even more time finding good music I can use to help the viewer enjoy the time they spend watching what I have produced. Maybe you enjoyed the music or not...to each their own. I do hope you have a great day and come back to see what else I have posted. Cheers!
Perfect❤
Thank you!
You have a nice place for your orchids with natural light from the windows. I would be interested to know if you use any lights when they are indoors. Unfortunately, most of mine have to live in the basement with lights for about 6-7 months of the year. I agree that an A.O. group would benefit most of us who have a collection of orchids. 😅
I lucked out with the east facing bay window. I tinted it years ago and I guess I used the right tint for the orchids. I do use supplemental lighting as well. Last year I used clip on grow lights over my Dens and Catts. I also used a clip on light over my Bangkok Sunset and it did well to to my surprise. This year I upgraded and I found Barrina grow lights on Temu for a good price and am using 5 2ft lights over the orchids in the window. I have two generic grow lights setup in my shelving unit. All the orchids are very happy with the lights to my delight. I really need to stop adding to my collection because I am completely out of space. I feel growing orchids is easier than trying to not buy more orchids... ;/ Thank you for watching and commenting! It means a lot to me! I hope you are having a great weekend!
Magic Art is the prettiest Orchid ive ever seen! I want to get better at growing before i get one. 💞
I agree! It is such a beautiful one. I read that it is fragrant but I haven't detected a scent yet. It my only be fragrant in the morning like a couple of my other fragrant Phals but I haven't been home during those times since I purchased it. I am hoping it will omit it's fragrance this morning for me. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and commenting! I do appreciate it! I hope you are having a great weekend!
Sooo pretty!!!❤️
I agree, they are stunning! Thank you!
Beautiful orchid ❤
Thank you for watching!
I need an OA too hahahahhhaha love that ODA Orchid Delirium Anonymous And itll just br a group that talks about orchids and brings theirs in to show and tell, buys orchids and trades them with others in the group. Basically sayying if we meet up in groups in an attempt to refrain from orchids... I give it one session before it over takes us all.. and the motive completely changes.
I think an Orchid Delirium Anonymous group would be quite successful! 😂 If you want more orchids... :) Thanks for watching! Hope you had a great weekend!

4:06 I have the Peng Seng too! Got it at a Connecticut orchid show in March. It bloomed shortly after repotting and it's making two new canes now. I recognized the growth right away. It's very, very sensitive to cold temperatures.
@@Joe-nj3bb Thanks for the advice! It’s inside now. Not sure how I feel about this one. Time will tell. Thanks for stopping by!
@@MrKylesorchids When it gets exposed to cold temperatures even in the low 60s, you'll first see a black spot at the end of the leaf, then it will turn yellow and drop.
Great Dendrobium collection. 😀
