I live near this ship in Kingston and used to play on an abandoned freighter docked in that space when I was a child. However, as an adult, I have to wonder why they put that eyesore in Kingston's modern redesigned waterfront. What could City Hall been thinking of?

Thank you for coming aboard! I'm one of the volunteers who does maintenance on the ship, and I'm happy that you got to really enjoy it! It's unfortunate you weren't able to see the Ladies Lounge; the ship had been unmaintained since 2018 (the last time the ship had power back when we first powered up the fire panel in January), and she unfortunately suffered water damage to parts of the ship, including the Ladies Lounge. Thankfully, the repairs are now complete, and the room is now open! So is our engine room tours! If you're from the area, you should swing back and come for another tour! 😊

I’m 70 years old and my last visit to Ausable chasm would’ve been in the mid-1960s. I remember the guide in the boat, telling us of a flood, and how high the water got and the boats were floating in the storage building a couple hundred feet from the chasm.I wonder if the last flood was more so than the one I was told about the 1960s. Back then it was the days of Polaroid cameras. You would pull the tab and have to wait a minute or two then pull it apart. The waste part of the film was thrown everywhere! They would just throw it off the walkways, that and other trash as well. I hope it’s still not like that.

Me again lol, did you know that upstairs, there is a museum of Brother Andre's life, as well as his mummified heart, and downstairs, where you saw all the candles, there is a crypt as they call it, with a black marble tomb, which apparently, has Brother Andre's body in it. And those grey middle stairs you mentioned, for those choosing to go up them while praying, you're supposed to go up on your knees. My uncle did that once years ago in the 90's. its a beautiful place, thank you for showing it. I love going there, especially to the gardens on the side that have all the statues of the way of the cross.

Ethan Allen store was opened in Vermont (I think during the depression -late 1930's) and they sold early American furniture--the real thing and copies--so they named the store after Ethan Allen the soldier who Lead the Blue Mountain Boys during the American Revolution and took the fort at Ticonderoga.
