Sounds like a great idea for keeping fit "Step up and then sit down", now all you need Andy is the library to put it in🤭
you are right! That was actually one of the reasons for making this project. Andy has a huge library of woodworking books, with an emphasis in boat building... that is on his bucket list. Building a sailboat. Watch for that in an upcoming video :)
What is that locking joint for the steps
great question, it is an iso-lock joint. we will be going over that joint in greater detail in the third video. That joint is super stable and takes all the wiggle side to side out of it.
Could you please make a demonstration on how to make the round corners square? I believe it is with a molding carve setup but not sure how.
Is the cutter your using for threading the Magnate 756 with the guide bearing removed?
that stool turned out awesome!! sizing looks better too!
Thank you! Tracy designed it and Chris built it. They are quite the Duo!
Can the stool be designed in VCarve or does it need to be done in Aspire?
Great question! On this particular barstool you can do everything except the dished seat in V-Carve Pro. However I am sure you could find some STL files of a seat that could be brought into V-Carve Pro and used in place of the one we modeled. Just remember to put the hole on the other side so that it will attach to the stool!
Thanks, I have always wanted to make one since I originally seen the piano stool made on the Arty or Gemini. Just have to buy the long shanked 90 degree bit I think it was.
I have a detail with toolpaths, how to copy it with these diagonal toolpaths?
I am not sure I understand your question. What is a detail with toolpaths? Can you explain it more for me?
+1 Round
John seconds that!
Are you going to make this plan available?
We will be doing a workshop here at the factory for those that would like to come out and learn how to make the barstool. There will be a limited number of seats available. If you would like to get on the list you can give us a call or email me - john@legacywoodworking.com
I figured that's what you'd do, 1/4 turn nut rotation equals 1/4 inch linear nut movement up & down shaft so tenons line up.
yep, woodworking by the numbers
I’ve cut through biscuits and exposed them too. Fortunately the drop in sink covered it. We are not alone.

Appreciate real-time view of operations.
I'm glad I am not the only one who makes mistakes. I am sorry it happened to you.👍
It happens for sure! We thought that it was important to show the mistake and in our new video we show how we saved the wood and overcame the problem. Thanks for commenting!
Ugh!! those biscuits!! lol lookin great!! can't wait to see it come together.
Right! I died! I forgot to flip the blank over but I thought it was important to show failures as well as successes in the video!
I don't have a cnc legacy, just an old manual one, but .....if the threaded stool shaft is to thread into both of these nuts they will have to be exactly the correct distance apart and also turned/rotated so as to orient the threads or the threads won't line up and thread into each other. Is your plan to rotate the "nut parts" a quarter turn or so to enable the shaft threads to line up without worrying about getting the exact distance between the nuts? I hope you understand the question.....here it is in another form....If I weld 2 nuts to a length of flat stock and thread in the 1/4-20 ready rod it will thread into the first nut no problem but it might not go smoothly into the 2nd nut...see what I mean? could you explain how you're going to make it work...like butter? watching from the west coast of Canada. Thanks for your most enjoyable videos.
That is a great question, and you are right, this can be a complicated project due to the need to be perfectly accurate. If I were building this by trying to cut or sand to a pencil line then we would almost always fail. As you said, when it come to threads if you are of by a little you are off by a lot. Tape measures are just not accurate enough. Making parts with the Maverick CNC allows you to start by drawing perfect parts, then cut perfect parts, and finally assemble perfect parts. Doing these three things allows the woodworker to make projects that would otherwise be outside of his/her ability. We have started holding live classes here at our factory in Springville Utah, we will be doing this project in November and December. You do not need to be a CNC owner to experience the precision of CNC. If you would like to make one of these stools, give us a call and get signed up today! 800-279-4570.
@@legacycnc8232 thanks for your reply. I didn't get the kind of answer I was hoping for. I guess it's all worked out on the computer somehow. If the nuts are fastened to the legs at a fixed distance from each other then I guess that is part of the calculation for where around the inside of the nut the thread cutter starts it's journey. Perhaps you could cover the details of this calculation but you probably made these vids a while ago. 4 threads per inch matches up well with the option of 4 possible positions that the 2nd nut could be rotated around to before being fastened to the legs. That's a marvelous machine you've created. looking forward to more vids on this.
Can’t you do the entire project in one video?
Yessir! after each part is finished we can create a video that goes through the entire stool. It will likely be a 20 min video. That is possibly too long for a lot of people to watch all the way through, but we will experiment with it to see if we should keep doing that.
Fantastic as always. Which thread bit did you use? Also could this be accomplished from Vectric also or only CCAM?
Magnate bit 751. Aspire does have something that kinda works. let me see what I can find for ya with that!
Every time I watch this threading video, I want to try it on my legacy Maverick 3x5. Great Job Chris!
You should! it will be amazing!
Boa Noite amizade tudo bem por favor onde posso fazer um orçamento dessas maquinas route maverick

I make sawdust for a living , automated!❤
Love that!
Aren’t you going to make the nut ? 😊
We will be making 2 nuts in the next video.
I have always been fascinated about this chair and wanted to make it on my Blue Elephant 4th axis machine with a Centroid Acorn controller. I often wondered if CCAM could be set up to run on my machine? As always excellent work and exciting to watch.
Fall in Love with Maverick cnc machine. One day, finger crossed
Great Video. Can you also do this same leg on the Mavick 3X5?
Yes, absolutely
What are the fixtures and clamping methods that are being used on the vertical vise?
The new x axis vertical clamps. They are available on the Maverick 4x4 and 4x8
So how long did it take to make the door?
Total time on machine was about 90 mins. Cutting panels, dry fit and assembly was another 90 mins.
Great system! You guys are strong in the game!
Way to think outside the box. Grow as you do!
thanks!
Just getting better!
Awesome concept!
We agree!
This is amazing. Excellent work Legacy.
Great video I appreciate the helpful E mails.
What cabinet software are you using ?
Norm uses Mosaik
Time to power on!😂❤
Yessir!
Huuumm, may come in handy since I need to make 200 welcome boards.
Give us a call and you will get $10.00 off a set!
Love it! Thanks Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When designing what should you do when there is an overhang / inside corner
Are you talking about overhang with the melamine or overhang of the edge banding?
@@legacycnc8232 like an L the inside corner when you use an end mill it leaves a round in in like J is there a way to minimize that?
@@legacycnc8232 yes
I learn as I watch but also learn how to teach things for "Tech Talks" at the schools.
That is awesome!
We’ve processed thousands of sheets on our Maverick 4x8 and it’s still going strong 💪. Thanks to the Legacy team and Michael Samarza for their guidance.
What bit did you use for the shelf pin/drawer slide holes?
Thanks for the question! We used a 5mm drill bit.
Greeeat !
Thanks! Keep watching for more videos as we complete this kitchen!
We bring manufacturing back to the U.S. one small shop at a time!!
Yessir! The best way to succeed is to keep the manufacturing here!

nice tutorial. Is this just finish tool path, how to set cutting depth if needed? Thank you.
The finish pass does not have a cut depth as the depth of cut is the surface of the model.
How do you fix insufficient glue gap it is not very well explained in vectrics tutorial
You can set that in when you are setting up the toolpath. adjust the glue gap depth. That can be set independently of the surface gap. In the video I made them the same but that is just because of my personal preference.
I always get excited when I watch these videos. Thank you so much!!
Glad you like them! This was a fun idea from a client of ours!
great tutorial
Thanks! This is an easy way to create your own rotary models using basic tools in an out of the box way!
