My first album ever was “Rock N Roll Over” by Kiss. I bought it because I loved the cover.😎🤣 Ace Frehley's great, cool lead guitar playing grabbed me straight away. 🤘🤘 I still remember putting the needle on my record player back to the beginning of the solo of the song "Calling Dr. Love" about 30-40 times. What a great, cool solo!🤘🤘 Ace really smokes on this album. Ace Frehley's great, cool solos got me into hard rock / heavy metal. I know that there are a lot of lead guitarists who can play faster and more technically demanding than Ace. Ace's way of playing has survived decades and is still super cool today. He will always be my hero. Thanks for the very interesting show.👍👍🤘🤘 All the guitarists you have mentioned are great!🤘👍🎸 @Peter: Great T-shirt!👍🤘 I have the same. But the t-shirt looks much better on me than it does on you.😂😂 Keep on rocking and greetings from Germany 🇩🇪🤘👍🎸🍻🌍
You completely nailed it about Ace! On a side note, Peter wants to fight you now haha JF
@@anywayyousliceitreviews Thank you Jason.👍🤘 Ok - In February next year I have time to do it. Flight ✈️ for Peter from New York to Düsseldorf…. Where do I have to send the tickets???🤣🤣 Of course both fighters have to wear the „Kiss Rock N Roll Over“-T-Shirt!!🤣🤣
@Rigosson 🤣🤣🤣
@@anywayyousliceitreviews Because I was challenged, I can of course choose the type of fight: One-armed snatch!🤣🤣🤘 With full beer glasses that have to be empty afterwards...🍻😎🤣 The whole thing is accompanied by hard rock music, the songs of which must contain excellent solos.🎸😎🍻🤣 We drink during the solos on Ex! This is done until someone falls off their stool...🤘🍻🤣
Peter's not a drinker so you have the edge there!!
I agree with what you said about Aces solos back then, almost all of them were great, and they all fit the song so well. But one of my favorite guitar solos is in a song known more for the sax...... "Baker Street", When that guitar hits at the end of that song, the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. 😊
Gonna have to relisten to that one!!! JF
@@anywayyousliceitreviews yeah, do that. Let me know what you think
Oh yeah man! That guitar when it comes in just pierces you right in the heart. Fantastic solo. I'll mention it when we do a part 2 for sure. Do you happen to know who plays it? Also, if we end up doing best sax solos.... JF
Hey guys! Great list. All great solos. Here's one of my faves by Richard Thompson. It's really unique and I've never really heard anything like it. ruclips.net/video/GNbftMe_MmA/видео.htmlsi=gpfVdLr_A22_9iCk&t=257
Awesome episode! Mine favorites solo is in "Aint Dead Yet" by Frank Marino. And a very special allbum I see behind you guys. "Crime of the Century" is a friggin Masterpiece!
Glad you noticed that! We strategically place certain albums behind us haha. Will check out that Marino song! Thanks for watching, and sharing it. Means a lot to us! SMACKAMAGOB! JF
Woah, that Frank Marino song just keeps going. Killer. I've always needed to investigate his stuff more
OMG. I could write a book on the great sounds of Clapton with Cream.
Exactly. Crossroads seemed like a natural choice, but man, how do you pick just one?
Gene played the Canyon club way before this.
That was 2 months after this, and only 1 song.
got to choose and going blind love those tracks
25:00 yeah not like ppl are just gonna pirate the lil audio snippet on your vid
Exactly!
I would absolutely adore a High n dry ep!
Oh we're doing it now!
@ YUSSS! 🤘
22:07 slick lol
12:30 great points
Looks n sounds great guyz! 🎬
Thanks man!
Piano on AC/DC would be wiiild 😂
Exactly!! Kinda glad they didn't, though. JF
@ yeah would undercut their raw punk attitude
would have been interesting to hear what george young and harry vanda would have done with those songs
Highway to hell is a great Hardrock album.🤘🤘 Probably my favorite AC/DC-Album. All songs are killer - no filler. Thanks for this episode.👍🤘 Keep on rocking and greetings from Germany 🇩🇪🤘👍🎸🍻🌍
Thank YOU Germany!!
For me, much of the AC/DC legacy was built upon what was played on American radio. But, just like you said here, you listen to the material on your own "home" system (stereo, hi-fi set, whatever), one thing you notice is; "hey, there's a lot more going on here than I thought." They were very lucky to survive the transition between lead vocalists.
No band in my history is more associated with growing up with rock radio on. Seattle radio LOVED this band.
Kind of the opposite of Kiss, who they never played.
My favorite ac/dc album
Join the club!
Another great episode! I waited to get this album last out of all the solo albums and to me is my favorite by far and possibly near the top out of the whole Kiss catalogue. Bob Kulick's guitar tone and playing is top notch, definitely 1 of the best Rock guitar albums around. Carmine Appice has said he played on 5 songs but Paul only used the 1 song.. i have always liked all 4 solo albums. Looking back im so glad they made these albums. It helped keep the band together..
We live seeing comments like this! Especially on our older episodes that we feel are forgotten about! The album is very special indeed. It's definitely one of Paul's greatest achievements!
This was one of the first AC/DC albums I bought. It was the only Bon album my dad didn't have.
Great review, guys! Powerage is definitely one of AC/DC's top albums. "Sin City," "Riff Raff," "Down Payment Blues," "What's Next to the Moon," etc. -- all great songs. It's raw, a little quirky, and maybe Bon's best performance from start to finish. Angus, too, was at the peak of his powers.
Nice review guys!
Thanks Dean!!!
I haven't had a chance to watch the AC/DC album ranking video yet, but really looking forward to it! Especially after this video; I love when you guys focus on specific albums/periods of time for a band! To be honest, I've alway been a bigger fan of the Brian Johnson-era (That's when I started listening to them), but I couldn't agree more that WHAT'S NEXT TO THE MOON? is such a fantastic, overlooked song. If one were to make a TEN BEST list of deep cuts across all bands of the genre, I would definitely put it on there. Great episode as always! Take it easy...
Oh yeah, it's top 10 for sure!! Hope you enjoy the album ranking as well!!!
I had known who AC/DC were since about 1978, but it wasn't until Bon Scott died that I actually saw a picture of the group. Now, listening to AC/DC on the radio, I fully expected Scott to look like he was at least 45. So, seeing who he was made his young death even that much more tragic. But...THE BRADY BUNCH?...NOTHING tragic about that.
I wish we would've talked about the Brady Bunch longer. I could certainly go on!
Ayy nice setup guys! 🎬🤘😎
I saw the show in Austin the other night. I had a good time and Yngwie put on a good solid performance. I did not know he sang?
Either did I til I saw our video that Peter shot! JF
😂😂🤣
ruclips.net/video/lqiYgldW5nw/видео.htmlsi=zle1lk07iV4MfEBJ BRAND NEW PENTAGRAM!
Sabaton is not hobbit metal. Those bands refer to the genre as folk metal.
Yeah but hobbit metal sounds WAY cooler!
Green Day and Smashing pumpkins played the last show of their tour in SD like they were 25 Smashing pumpkins writing some of the best songs ever imo at least for the genre etc
ruclips.net/video/n-n6M331F5Q/видео.htmlsi=V-uq3XwgP9ywjAVQ
ruclips.net/video/tPPTvzgGwaw/видео.htmlsi=kA3ARJeUvKVLsxHw
Haha too funny 😂. I’d say I used to do that all the time but I still do it all the time 😁
HtH is clear #1. Powerage is so close but HtH's pacing and perfect fit from start to finish take it. Also, ending on Shazbot, Nanoo Nanoo is the most insane non-sequitir to the song it's attached to in rock history.
That is a GREAT point I don't think we brought up! Ha!
Pretty good list but you definitely should’ve ranked the original Austalian versions of the first four albums instead they’re so much better especially dirty deeds. The Australian version of dirty deeds is a billion times better it has Jailbreak, rip (rock in peace), and the full versions of the title track and ain’t no fun (waiting round to be a millionaire). TNT is also much better than the international version of high Voltage. If you haven’t listened to the original Australian versions of the first four albums you definitely should you won’t be disappointed
I certainly will, thanks!! JF
Interesting to hear. I've heard that those versions have really great aspects to them but for me we're reviewing it and of course talking about the releases kind of nostalgically so it all ties in with where we were and how we compare the albums and all that. Having said that I kind of want to pick up some vinyl copies of those -PT
Needs more Marshalls
I first saw Yngwie in about 83or 84 at the Country Club in Reseda.it was a Musicians Institute recruitment concert and it was the first time I heard Frank Gambale also.Yngwie was special guest and sat in on a quasi fusion tune with a simple chord progression (Ami-G F-E7) so Yngwie could shred over it.He was great but Gambale was a whole other world(he was only about 24 not much older than Yngwie). They played a dirty trick on Yngwie and modulated to Bb Minor and Yngwie kept playing in A minor. He was bending notes wildy and playing dimished 7th arps to find his way home but he couldn't play in Bb minor. He got a LOT better since then but he always had a great feel. His ego has mellowed a bit with age but the impracticality of lugging 50 Marshall heads on tour is a bit....uhh nutz.Rock on to Vahala YJM.
Yeah the rock guys get used to a different type of ball game as far as soloing over changes but I think it all makes sense with riff based music and what not. Hard to compete with Frank Gambale And it's interesting because my friend and I were chatting as we walked away from the show and my first thing I mentioned was I wish those guys had a little bit more Jazz in them 😅 still I can't really complain obviously ;) it was great! -PT
I’m the balding dude with glasses in the front row. I caught 6 guitar picks and gave 4 to the people behind me. I think he tossed about 100 into the crowd. Great show!
Awesome!!!
At least you got your money’s worth from the expensive ticket price 😅😅
Did you manage to tape the whole show or just this part?
Just a handful of sections. I'm a big fan of the first two albums in particular
Great episode! Loved it
Thanks Will!!!
Ummmmmmm. At least no one picked BIB. as #1. No BJ stuff before all the Bon. Agree on HTH being their very best. Perfect album.
Can't beat Back In Black.. I really actually dislike lists 😂 love em all !
It all started with “ If you Want Blood, You Got It “ then “ Highway To Hell “. I was 16 at the time. Then, the next year…Holy Sh*t! Back In Black!!!! Damn! Still listen to these LPs to this day!
They are timeless!
Man, American radio really dictated the way AC/DC was absorbed in to the rock and roll world.
Big time! That's what hooked me!
Hey guys! Great episode! Thanks for the shout out!
Powerage for the win!!!
Get up !! ha jk love our gmas ☺️
Scariest album cover ever
Favorite KISS basslines episode? You guys rule! \m/
I would do that!!! Peter? JF
Need to just start putting the band behind the amps. 🤷♂ Need every square inch of stage space for that mans ego. I had RF albums and cassettes as a kid. So I'm not a hater of the music. I just cant think of a more boring show. A whole set of one man stroking himself. And even ego aside. Watching some guy shred scales and arpeggios over and over for an hour gets old fast. The keyboardist is fucking phenomenal! Lets stick him in the corner.
@havocharmony9661 So why are you here seeking out his videos dumb dumb!!! Your ego hiding behind the computer well lest just say you speaks volumes.
YM. Where the side men get completely redefined as back men. Perhaps we could get rid of one more and replace him with 4 of my stacks! Thanks, but no thanks YM.
BLAH BLAH BLAH
I asked my aunt for a Megadeth album and got Cinderella 🙄
Wanted studs and got bandanas 😂
