You could press it flat then take a cookie cutter the size you want and cut them out
@@veronica978 yes that would work also. Good idea thanks for sharing.
What with this being battery powered, do you take any trouble over how you store the machine over winter, when it is not in use?
@@Misterdestructer No usually I store the batteries inside and store the weed eater in my shed so the batteries are in a heated area and the tool itself is not but I have had no problems with any of my Stihl equipment battery or gas.
Good review. I have ordered one. Thanks. Look out for the promo I got, where you buy it as a kit with the charger and a couple of batteries.
@@Misterdestructer Thank you and that sounds like a good promotion. Mine came with the charger and 1 battery.
I ran mine to hard one day and melted some plastic gears down in the head from what I remembered connected to the motor. Could not find replacement gears at that time so I junked it.
@@robertjones7792 sorry to hear that. I’m surprised that happened and that Stihl couldn’t get you the gears to get it running again.
I have one used it 4 times and motor locked I bought it used and mine only used the .065 line. I would not recommend this to no one
@@russellatwell2000 did you take it back or contact Stihl? It should be covered. I’ve had mine for going on 3 years now and not had any problems with it. It works as good today as the day I got it. I also know other people that own it and haven’t had any issues with theirs either.
as I said I bought mine 2nd hand so no warranty
@@russellatwell2000 ok I didn’t see that previously sorry about that but still might be worth a call to Stihl
Thanks for doing this helpful video, it’s my first time on your channel. I’m now a subscriber, keep up the good work!
@@kimt4870 thank you and welcome
Electric pressure canners are not considered safe from the CENTER FOR HOME PRESERVATION. To make your patties from bulk sausage, use the ring from your wide mouth jar as a "cookie cutter." After they are browned, they will shrink enough to fit in your jars perfectly. Then top off with hot water to 1" heads pace, then wipe the rim with vinegar to remove any grease. Then apply the lids & rings. Process for meat time 75 minutes for pints, 90 minutes for quarts at the proper pressure for your area. Can safely according to the rules and never be sorry, sick, or dead.
@@denisewilson8367 I can’t find anything on their website saying electric pressure canners aren’t safe. The only thing I see on there is that 10 years ago they said they don’t recommend using electric pressure cookers because they haven’t tested them yet to know if they bring the items in the jar to the correct temperature for the right amount of time yet. I personally don’t use an electric pressure cooker I use the pressure canner. There is a lady here on RUclips I can’t remember her name but she did scientific testing on the pressure canner brand I have where she put probes in with the items being canned that record the data after canning and cooling she would take the recorders out and download and compare the data and in all the videos I saw that she put out the pressure canner exceeded the recommendations from the center for home preservation and the usda. If I remember correctly I believe she was a professor at some university. Thanks for the information.
Quuestion, have you ever filled your jars with beef broth which could then be used to make gravy?
@@brendanorris4368 no I haven’t tried that yet with sausage. But I would imagine it would work. I do add broth to venison and regular beef so it should work just fine.
Did your grandmother have a pressure cooker or would waterbath?
@@paccur1252 I’m wanting to say she had both but I might be wrong.
Use the ring for your jar for the mold for your patty.
Yes a couple other people had mentioned that also. I’ll try it the next time I do them. Thanks for the tip I do appreciate it and it helps the whole community.
Which CPAP do you use? Only an 8% lost in a night?!? That’s damn good!
It’s a Phillips and yes I thought that’s pretty good also.
I liked that you showed all the buttons on the canner. My first canning of meat was hamburger, I hit a sale and then came home and realized I didn't have room in my freezer. I was very pleased with the results and making meals with ground beef became very fast and with less mess
Thank you and yes I enjoy using that canner for the same reason if I find a good sale on meat I grab it and start canning.
We allways boil our seals. No cold sealing
I don’t always boil them but most of the time. A lot of the manufacturer’s now claim you don’t have to but it doesn’t hurt to do it anyhow.
Thank you for the responce. We learn ever day. I dont can. I want to try some pickeld sauage like pennrose. Cant find them anymore. Think i can addapt your prosses
@@donavonbaker5172 yes we do learn everyday and I enjoy that. Knowledge is a good thing to have.
My Mom canned sausage when I was a small child, she rolled them in a small ball to fit in the jars. Delious stuff
I agree it’s delicious and nice to know it’s on a shelf for a power outage or whatever other emergency comes around
That's right sir, we never know this day and times
I am just starting to prepare. I have several portable solar generators and solar panels. Just starting to can and get some food together. Need to start saving some money as well. Have some barter items and toiletries stocked up, some water stashed away and some cooking fire fuel things stocked up as well as lighting.
Yes just work on it a little bit at a time as you can and before you know it you’ll be all set up and a little more comfortable. It’s surprising how relaxed and comfortable you feel when you have prepared for emergencies.
Thanks for your info. Just found your channel and missed your drawing by a couple of days,
Stick around I have more coming just trying to get the time right now to get new videos out but should be soon.
Easy meat press use 1 jar ring & 2 jar lids, put little oil on them. Put 1 lid in jar ring press meat with 2nd lid, just push patty out of ring with bottom lid. Use old lids that you already used for canning instead of throwing them away, no added expense that way.
Thank you I like that idea.
Just a tip-use canning lid to make the patties. Goes for hamburgers to
Thank you I appreciate the tip.
I use the ring of the jars I plan to can it as a patty form. It works very well
Yes it does mine came out very good.
We always put a small amount of vegetable or olive oil in our hands and grease our seals, lightly, before a day of canning. You only need to do it on the first load of the day. The light coating of oil will keep your seals hydrated and they last a lot longer. It's probably not a recommended procedure, but my mom and grandma always did this and we're all still kickin' around to tell the tale.😊 By the by, a set of seals usually last me 5 plus years of heavy, year round canning.
Thanks that’s good information to know.
It's more likely the alphabet agencies doing anything bad and just blaming other countries... you can't trust ANY of the ANTI-AMERICAN SIMPLETONS!
Roll it out like dough , on wax paper. Turn over a jar use it as cookie type cutter for patties
That sounds like a good plan also. Thanks for the information.
A cookie cutter may work since those come in different sizes.
That could possibly work. Thanks for the idea.

Welcome and thanks for joining the journey.
You can use a jar ring with a used lid. Just press in and pop out.
Thank you I’m going to try that the next time I do sausage.
What is the shelf life if stored in a cool, dry location?
I usually aim for use by the end of one year from date canned but I have been able to open a jar of canned sausage UpTo 4-5 years after canning date as long as follow storage procedures of cool dry place without the rings on jars so can tell if it becomes unsealed. It wasn't intentional that the jars were on my shelf that long but it accidentally got pushed back into a very dark corner of my storage area.
I bought 2 dozen stick lighters that can be refilled. Refill cans at Tabaco outlets. Solar power, that is what I need. BUT, I would like to get battery banks and inverters. I have a small one but it needs to be bigger. I also buy the little $1 disposable flashlights all over the house. Thank you.
I just canned 32 jars of Red Bud Jelly, like from the Red Bud Trees. I can 80 jars of Orange Marmalade at Thanksgiving when oranges go on sale. I make a loaf of homemade bread and give a loaf and a jar to all for Christmas presents. People love that, lots better than a purchased present. Thank you.
This just came across my inbox. I like canning meats, especially when they are on sale. I also buy from local farmers. Thank you.
Thank you I appreciate the comment and yes I prefer buying from the local farms and butchers who raise their own beef and pigs also.
I do not worry, can't add anything to my life but stress. BUT, I am prepared. 2018 Fell and destroyed my shoulder, will never lift anything over 50 pounds because of it. I turned 65 May 20. If we make any more money, my wife will loose her health insurance. So I can, everything. The garden is 2500 sq. ft. and only grow what my family eats. Thank you!
I really enjoy growing and canning my own food it’s nice knowing what’s in the jars of food. Sorry to hear about your fall and it’s definitely a good way to save money.
I saw someone use the ring from the jar as a mold to make the patties. They were perfect size after they were browned up. Im with you on the Superb lids. 100% made in America.
Thanks for the tip a couple other people commented about that also. That’s what I like about this community everyone helps each other.
@@DsHomestead ya I should've read through the comments first. I haven't canned for a while and this makes me want to start again.
@@patriot1902 you should get back into it. I sleep a lot better at night knowing I have food on my shelves in case it’s not available at the store anymore. Just remember the whole toilet paper thing a few years ago.
New follower, hris from @shadetreeamerica told me about your channel. I am loving this video. Thank you for sharing Sir!
Welcome to the channel and thanks. I’ll be checking out you guys channel also later. I had no clue there was that many channels in our area.
I am on the Panhandle of Florida.
@@jailbaitandtackleoutdoors ok so definitely outside the area up here but will still be checking out your channel. That’s a beautiful area down that way.
Having these kinds of things put away is also a great convenience for days when (for example) we aren't feeling like doing everything from scratch for breakfast. I also do up cubed potatoes (dry canned) which are great to just plop into the huge electric skillet and cooked in a combo of duck fat and left over bacon or sausage grease. Alongside some left over biscuits with home canned jam/jelly, some scrambled eggs, home canned stewed tomatoes, and a hot cup of coffee and you've got a delicious breakfast!
Those are great ideas and thanks now I’m hungry 🤤 🤣
Info on dry canned cubed potatoes pls. TY
@@gloriaespinoza9369 I’ll work on that I was wanting to get some potatoes canned up anyhow.
@@DsHomesteadCarter @Grow and Preserve does an excellent video tutorial of dry canning potatoes.

I always call salt Mexican sugar, because my brothers would tease me as a kid because I can't say salt properly 😊
Sorry to hear they teased you about that but glad you figured out a solution that worked for you.
Some people use the "ring" from the jars as a size to check sizes. I've just laid the sausage out into a 9 x 12 layer and cut ir apart using the rings. Kind of like cutting out cookies. Then I bake them and they shrink a little and fit perfectly into the jars.
I’ll have to try that. It seems like that would work a lot better and if I used a rolling pin to flatten it then it would probably be more uniform in thickness. Thanks for the tip.
Great way and works great
Roll the meat out and use a canning ring to cookie cutter them out
Yes that would work thank you for the idea.
I love that idea. You could do the same for burgers or meat loaf patties too.
Lewis and Clark would have brought ashitload of Bic lighters if they could have
I agree those things work great.
Great video new sub 👍
Thank you and welcome.
Great video. It’s been a long week. I miss read the title of the video. I read top ten bar tending essentials for survival. TGIF
Lmao that might be a good video also. Thanks and glad you liked it.
Never ever barter with food or ammo!!
I would be iffy with either of those but you never know. Thanks for the input and it would be hard for me to barter either of those.
Single guy here. Hand lotion great barter item
Yes that would be good to have along with some hand sanitizer.
Lots of good ideas. I have a few extra "life straws" that I tucked away for bartering. Tarps are good barter items and lay flat and don't take up too much room to store. Bungee cords, rope, paracord.
I like those ideas they are all good ones. How do you like the life straws? I haven’t tried them yet.
My friend has a pest control company for 30 years and she barters. Yes I won the last contest and found a great recipe for sourdough bread in the big book❤
I didn’t think of pest control that would be a good skill to barter with. Glad you’re enjoying and getting something out of those books.
Thank you so much for these great ideas. Oh, I’m just a little bit behind on the emergency fund but I’ll get there.
Yes there’s still time to try and get caught up. Thanks for watching and commenting.
How many pounds of sausage did you use and how many sausage patties did you get just as a approximate
I believe it was approximately 4 pounds of sausage and I got roughly about 33-35 patties out of that.
Great ideas! Thank you for showing all the ideas
Thank you and anytime.
Blankets and warm clothes
Those are definitely good items to have stocked up and to barter with.
How did they do it when they had no pressure caner Way back in the days I had asked a women on here claiming to know everything. I had ask her this question and her reply was she didn't care she does it smarter. I thought she was the rudest person I have asked 1 simple question. She is a loser and looks like one to , She is someone who knows nothing. Thank you for listening Hope you can answer how they did it Oh and they did live longer :)
It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!
I totally agree with you and that’s how I’m looking at things now. Thanks for stopping in.
nice video. Turn your ring upside down with a lid and it makes the perfect mold for your patties that will fit in the jar.
Thank you and yes a few other people had said that also. It probably would’ve given me a more uniform thickness to the patties also.
