    I hookup without a quick hitch. I found if you place a 8-10 round fence post under the move at about the center of gravity tree amity which is a bit off center of the 1st turtle you can one handed teeter totter the cutter to line up with the eyes on the lift arms. Granted you squared up when backing up. You can also move the move by yourself back and forth. Works for me just sharing with you guys. Don’t use a quick hitch because I use the same tractor for raking and baling. I like the way the pull string works both locks . We have had them all and each one has their place, If the quad would have had the higher gears closer to reverse it would have been alot better, its probably my least favorite though. 8 speed PS shift is still my favorite, syncro on a loader is perfect for fwd to rev speed.

    • @machineryd2765

      Yep pretty much how I see it. The only advantage the quad has is 16 gears but the way they set it up with fast reverse below the slow forward is terrible. I sometimes like it baling because the 1/2 gear shift is just right and a 8speed power shift I wouldn't be able to find the speed I want but besides that it gets on my nerves. Would love to have a 50 or 55 series with a 15 speed PS but they are a little out of the budget. I appreciate the comment thanks for watching.

    and what kind of tranny i got in my 1973 1120 3 cyl diesel john deere its a the left stick is P L H R right stick is a U shift pattern 1 2 3 4 fully manual trans witch cluthc.... i cant upshift it no issues but i cannot down shift it .... and info ??

      That is John Deere TSS transmission. Meaning Top shaft syncronized. Should be able to shift up and down the 1234 moving with a clutch. The H L R you need to be stopped. If your having problems down shifting with the clutch it could be that your syncronizers are bad. I would suggest trying to rev match by shifting to neutral, letting clutch back out, then revving engine up a little, then clutch and downshift. May help a little.

      I bet we can figure it out. When you say vomits out of pickup is it coming over top of the wind guard? What rpm are you running? How dry is the hay?

    • @machineryd2765
      @machineryd2765 Месяц назад

      @@user-nb8xw1oj8e that happens to me sometimes when the hay is pretty dry. It gets light and instead of starting to roll it pushes back out over wind guard. For this I'd try lowering rpm until bale gets started. But you said your belts were also climbing each other. Sometimes if the belts don't have enough tension on the at the start this can happen. I'd check the airbag pressure and my k also has stops under tension arms that limit tension when closed and empty. May check that if your J has it.

      @@user-nb8xw1oj8e no problem if it doesn't help let me know. Also if you still have problems with belts climbing or flipping check how you are weaving. Once the bale is larger it's less important but at the start it's critical. Try starting by feed hay at one end of the pickup and immediately and evenly moving all the way across. Sometimes starting on one side works better than starting in the middle. Thanks for watching 👍

    As far as reliability both of them are fantastic. For cost of rebuild a majority of Synchro problems are going to be the top shaft which isn't that terribly expensive 5 grand can go a long ways. Power shifts most of the time you're only going into the front clutch pack which is just a clutch housing split a couple Grand and you've got your C1 C2 and PTO clutch pack and transmission pump rebuild If you have to go into the planetary pack of the power shift it can start to get expensive but most of the time it's really not that terrible because it's a broken seal and a couple clutch discs. Very rarely have we had to go in because of planetary failure On the Synchro transmission if you have a problem with the ranges on the bottom shaft that is where it gets a little more pricey even if you use used gears to help keep the parts built down the bottom shaft is just a lot of Labor because you are going to pull the axles you're going to pull the three-point you're going to pull the differential. So you have a lot of Labor and then if you put new bearings in there it really adds up the labor

      Hey Bob, they all CAN last 20,000 hours or more if taken care of. But the powershift is expensive if the day ever does come that it needs rebuild. As far as the syncro vs Quad Range the syncro still has a dry clutch so usually doesn't last as long. And the Quad has a 2 speed bump shift which are pretty reliable but can go out. If I were rating them only from a reliability and cost of repair standpoint it would be 1. Syncro 2. Quad Range ( very close 2nd ) 3. Powershift. Thanks for watching 👍
