Great video. I had my colonoscopy last week and did Suprep. Much easier than Golightly.

Tip: DO NOT USE MOVIPREP! It’s DISGUSTING and I personally couldn’t keep it down and due to that I had 2 failed colonoscopies as I wasn’t cleared out enough, On the 3rd colonoscopy I was given PICOLAX and it was SOOOOOOOO much better! It’s tasteless (just like water) and you drink much much less compared to moviprep, Request it before you are given your prep cause it’s available and may be the difference between a successful and a failed colonoscopy

Wow.. I just had my 1st colonoscopy yesterday, and I'm 46. My Dr found one 5mm and sent to lab. I'm glad that I got done despite that nasty drink 😆

I'm a high normal pooper, and just did plenvu for my 3rd colonoscopy. It was gross, but it kicked in 45 minutes later.

Doctor, you are doing a great job educating people by posting these videos. I am a 46 yo female about to have the procedure done. I am very scared of going under deep sedation and of what the colonoscopy will reveal, but i need to be strong :). Do you mind answering do you always do these under deep sedation or conscious sedation is an option? Thank you.

Yup going tomorrow..already downed the 4 laxitives...2 more hours and I drink! Just want it over!!!! I was given miralax mixed with Gatorade..only 64 oz...I will chug 8 0z every 15 min!

Due to constant stomach cramps and massive diarrhea for the past 18 months or so, i am going to the gastroenterologist on August 23td for a consult. I am wondering what the Gastroenterologist will recommend for treatment. I know i do need the upper endoscopy as well as my family has a history of gastric cancer on my moms side.

I vomit with pills too.

Took me an hr nd a half to get through my 500ml solution. Plus i had 2x 500ml of orange water squash

My dr keeps harrassing me to get a colonoscopy.. i hate her..

I have had more than the average colonoscopies because of colon issues. For the prep I hold my nose, drink, open my mouth and breathe before I let go. Once I start with the bathroom I just hang out on the toilet, making sure to move around so I don't hurt my butt. I learned not to wipe with ANYTHING unless I have to get up. Having a private or semi private bathroom helps. When I do have to wipe I dab it.

So why is it doctors dismiss the early symptoms and say "you are too young for Colorectal Cancer," and "You dont need a colonoscopy until atleast 45"..I have all the damn syptoms. All...of...them...and just now after 2 years of complaining that they will now do a colonoscopy. Whenever that will be...but I took an at home colon health test and yep, positive for blood even though cant see it visibly. I swear, if it ends up being bad and they could have addressed it last year atleast, I will sue the pants off them.

Mix it with Spirite. Chill

Best to eat light 2 days before so there’s less to clear out of your bowel. If constipated The week before take a laxative.

why cant you just mix it with apple juice first

Gatorade/mirilax prep is what I used the 1st time . I had no problems and test was good. This week I had my 10year check and was prescribed a 4liter golytely version. Major fail. Got thru 3 glasses and feeling awful, 2 more glasses and had to stop, take the anti-nausea pill wait 30min. and continue. Vomited all of it up.

I was able to chug half, but the last half, I was gargling chicken broth in between drinks. So nasty. In my experience, it got worse with each gulp. It took 30 minutes to turn my digestive track into Disney's Splash Mountain

I wish I had found this video before my last colonoscopy. I was given Sutab and I followed the directions and I was mildly nauseous on the first round but very nauseous after the second round. With the end result I was alternating between either sitting on my can and or my knees. Without a doubt the worst prep of the 4 previous colonoscopy. Pro Tip: Get a Bidet. You will thank me later.

perhaps a mint flavor would help. i was expecting explosive like the few time i had food poisoning . wasn't bad at all. like a recovery from a hardcore taco truck feast. not so bad....

You know what doctor you lied supposed to get five tips how to BEAT the colonoscopy how do you BEAT the colonoscopy? You're going to have a race with it? The only way I can see how to bid is to not show up for the colonoscopy I'm still waiting for the five ways to beat it. I have medical documentation that I have never completed the prep for the colonoscopy the correct way. Every Doctor who did one make note of that. So now I'm having one next week my doctor sorry about my records to see that and puts me on a 2-day prep

I think you might have been better off with Dulcolax, Miralax & 64 ozs of clear fluid with a bit of a flavor to blend it all! Anyway you do it, it's so gross and you feel like you're never going to get all that down!!

I had a colonoscopy done in 2018. I did the prep. And it did not work until 4 hours before I had to get the test done.

Thanks so much for this video. I watched it before having my colonoscopy, and it really helped. I'm posting this to share my first experience having a colonoscopy and how my prep went. I was put on a 3 day restricted diet. The first 2 days, I was on a low fiber and no meat or eggs diet. I followed everything as ordered, except on both days I had 6 steamed shrimp. (love my seafood and the shrimp satisfied my taste buds lol) The day before the procedure, I was on a liquid only diet, which I mostly had chicken broth, water, and Popsicles. Now the prep...I have heard so much about this that my fear was at an all-time high. I had the prep that was shown in this video, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. It tastes like salt water and a drop of cherry🍒 . It's not a good taste, but it won't kill you. I used Sprite Zero as a chaser as needed. It took me 45 minutes to get it down. DON'T rush. It resulted in 2 extreme bowel movements and quickly followed by a clear bowel movement. I drank 2 bottles of water over the next hour. The second prep was exactly like first. I was able to sleep 4 hours without having to get up. The procedure: It was simple. I was put under anesthesia, and everything went well. 3 non-cancerous polops were removed, and my next colonoscopy will be in 5 years. The doctor said my prep was nicely done. I was not hungry, as others have stated. I am a bariatric patient, so I eat small amounts of food, so this could make me an exception. My advice is to eat lightly and follow the diet restrictions given, and you will be okay. A lot of food means a lot of bathroom trips. I hope this helps. Good luck, and God bless you❤

Thank you so much for this I have one in 2 days It’s 3 years late and I had non cancerous polyp found before Lots reasons for this but I’m super scared Had poo test last year all clear I had hysterectomy last year HRT sorting etc long story I just want this done I’ve done it before a few times but yeah had fissure few years back another reason why I prolonged it scared the prep will bring it back Thanks again Nervous 🥰🙏your helping Alot Do we get to sleep does it stop after how many hours ??

I've found that the headaches, which I also get during prep, are probably due to dehydration. They aren't pleasant but they are temporary.

Great video I have yet to call for an appt because I have so much anxiety about it but this eased my mind a little bit also without getting too graphic, I appreciated the toilet view at the end so I know what to look out for

When I ordered for a colonoscopy they scheduled it early the morning the very next day, 4 am right now still can't finish it because I feel so fill

The best way to reduce colon cancer is to enlighten our Doctor’s in our to think cancer & get a scan done ! simple as that ( from a husband who’s wife lost the fight because doctors at our surgery & at Yeovil didn’t pick this up quickly 😔) it’s that simple think cancer!

Colonoscopys are really uncomfortable and somewhat painful while they are running the tubing through the large intestine at the beginning, but I think the main reason they want you to take sedative before the colonoscopy is so you are not tempted to take a swing at the doctor while he is working the equipment that is sticking out of your anus. It is cheaper to go without sedative and recovery is immediate and you can get home and get something to eat quicker. I have had two that way and they do not take all that long. If you are willing to suffer for a short time and not try to punch the doctor, it is well worth it. Remember, a big part of your taste is linked to your sense of smell. Pinching your nose shut while you are drinking the prep helps a lot.
