So grateful for this video! My big beautiful leaves were totally broken from multiple moves. I never would have thought that cutting off most of the leaves would help and it was kind of scary to do, but it worked so quickly - my plant had grown nothing new in more than a year and has grown 7 new leaves since I made the cuts in May/June! 🙏🏾

I feel lucky i found your videos. I lived in japan and had a beautiful tree in my house but i had to leave it there. In Australia ficus umbellata is quite rare and the only one i can find at nurseries is a 2m tall, single stem plant with only leaves on the very top (no branches at all). I wonder if it is possible to cut the tree at better lenght to encourage branching? I am afraid that cutting the top off and leave no other that a cut trunk will kill the plant. Thank you

I have never grown a parlor palm, but palms often thicken their trunks by exposing them to sunlight. It becomes soft in the shade. I think it's important to grow it in strong summer sunlight. The leaves will be burnt once, but the next leaves that will emerge will be more resistant to sunlight. It's not 100%, but I hope it's successful.
