This plane was held together with bailing wire and was a mechanical nightmare. Unbelievable.

Awesome B717-200 trip report

Sad to think that this plane probably took so many trips before this fateful one which would end it's time in the sky. Sully did a remarkable job of keeping it in tact best he could under the horrific way it hit the water. This does give U the scale at just how big some planes can be when U stand alongside them & pilots have to navigate these big beasts thru the sky. It still amazes me how they can lift off the ground as those massive engines keep them aloft.

If gusty winds exist the rotation maybe slightly delayed, in order to allow the airspeed to rise. Allowing a devided takeoff without settling back onto the runway

Over the years she and her crew were frequent and much loved visitors to San Luis Obispo. Seeing her flying over Edna Valley was always a treat!

Awh man I went to Las Vegas 4 months ago! It was amazing! And then it was time to come back to Jacksonville, I remember the exact sounds of the plane and how it would pull you back in the seat because it was going so fast! I was scared when we were taking off. But when I saw the view it was beautiful :0 I miss flying but we are planning to fly back to Las Vegas!

I am watching this cuz I miss flying due to Covid.

Hopefully i get to board via remote stand next month at PHL

Great video but you seriously need to get a legit camera. The best starter camera would problem be the Sony cx405 camcorder and you can find it on Walmart.com for like $200 with a bag, a tripod, and a micro sd card

Oh boy i remember when the longest runway was only 4,800 ft, when we landed in a crj 200 we got slammed into the seat in front of us because of how hard the braking was, and when we departed we did a static take off because of the short runway, kinda disappointed they extended it, takes the fun out of it in my opinion

What a Tragedy, I can't hardly believe it . Back during the War many B17s returned to Base after being shot Up very badly, with less than 4 engine's. I almost rode in the nine O Nine twice on the West Coast. Our Condolences!

Tell ya what - If I were in one of those war birds - I'd feel totally comfortable with the level of training and skill this crew had!! There is lots of debate here on whether or not to declare emergency. With training, losing an engine is usually not critical; but it is demanding. With a declaration, he could have requested leaving the pattern and circled RIGHT; favoring the natural yaw from the power differential and providing more options. The Collins Foundation family should be in thoughts also! They are seriously grieving.
