Jambo rifiki. When I lived in Kenya (early 80's) all of the parks were free. I think it is a shame that they are charging so much to enter the parks. For a Canadian, this is extremely expensive. Some of the parks are upwards of $140 per day in Canadian dollars. This is a wealthy persons adventure now. Asante sana for your little tour.

What about these airport shuttles? Are they like Matatus or are you safe because there are usually other tourists as well?

Hi we did a 3 days Safari in Masai Mara a mid range tour in June 2024. The coast for this was 850 dollers per person . We were driven by our driver Mr Kikito who workes for Jocky Tours by the Toyota Land Cruiser. I prefer road trip. It took 6 hrs to our accommodation Jambo Mara Safari Lodge. The road trip was fascinating rather than bumpy roads. We were lucky enough to see all animals in one whole day Safari. As you mentioned, always keep money to tip and an experience driver is a must. You don't go to safari on you own. You will need a guide and with equipment including a safari truck. A guide knows everything about safari including where to find the animals and the area. Professional photographers spent a lot of time and money looking for best moments to photograph. 😊

So there is mosquito proof clothing that will help against mosquitos but I am also considering trying this protect against tsetse flies. The thing is I know that impregnated clothing won't work because tsetse flies are resistant to the content but what about tight fabrics such as G1000 or more thick fabrics they can't bite through? Is there anything you could recommend? I really want to avoid getting bitten because Sleeping Sickness is a risk. And While getting bitten once isn't the end of the world getting bitten hundreds of times by different flies really does increase the risk..

Thank you for this video! Many safari content on RUclips are young adults up for adventures but I hardly find anyone talking about safari with young kids. I’m coming to Kenya this year with my 4-year old. I totally agree with your suggestions. I think it’s very important to find an agency or a tour that understands needs of young kids and family. I switched from Botswana to Kenya with advice of my agency, because my child cannot join a walking or a canoe safari in Botswana.

It is very common for safari camps to do laundry daily for clients. So two sets of clothes are sufficient.

I have broken a few rules in African national parks. Everytime our jeep have had a flat tire I have left the car and changed it for a new one. When being harassed by baboons I have attacked the troop with machete and a small aluminium table as a shield. I have taken a leak during nighttime outside my tent with hyenas around. I have shouted at Cape buffalos to disperse when surrounding our vehicle. I have scared away predators by stomping in the ground and shouted. I have done a lot of other things also but everything have fulfilled its purpose without any problems.

The land cruiser or van actually makes no different. Both vehicles are pretty comfortable. I prefer the midrange accommodation . The most important thing is the driver and guide. unfortunately you dont know who you get until you get him / her. So from my point of view budget safaris is definitely worth it.

I have proven even hunting orange cammo works and does not make animals afraid. I’m totally lucky and have old Patern 85 Canadian military cloths and they work the best for me. Old school canvas basketball shoes work the absolute best in my opinion. But seriously I have used shirts and cloths from my local works man’s store and they worked just fine. And don’t wear short shorts u less you really enjoy pain
