Thank you
I get the £150 fine by post, payment to be made within 10 days or refer to bailiff
I am aiming to pursue the ACCA particularly interested in corporate roles rather than audit functions. However, I have concerns as a Muslim especially where interest-based transactions are prevalent. As accountants, we often advise on late payment penalties for trade receivables and provide guidance on cash flow management, which may involve recommending interest-based loans. In tax consulting, there are scenarios where advising on loans can reduce tax liabilities. I am unsure how to align these responsibilities with Islamic values. could you guide me on how to navigate all of this or should switch careers
I am confused. So basically I am a graduate with a bachelors in business management and I'm interested in being a chartered accountant. I want to understand how this ACA course works. From what I know you get a full time job and you get trained as well alongside taking these exams. With a full time job, how do they teach you the knowledge in classrooms or do you have to do that part by urself and just take the exams. Need some help with this
Did you Aca from your own home country?
I did the aca in the UK - born and raised here
Are talking about CPA(certified public accountant) or normal accountants.
Both!
What about someone with AFA MIPA qualifications. Is that not a proper accountant?
First time I’ve heard of that body - having a brief look at their website seems on par with the rest but definitely not instantly recognisable.
Hi Brother, I have been looking for degree apprenticeships in accounting and finance but have been unable to find local firms/providers. I live in Leeds and have been wondering if you know any firms/companies that will offer me this apprenticeship.
It is quite late now to be looking - there a few non degree apprenticeships still hiring in London - best time to start looking and applying is September / October as they typically recruit a year in advance.
Another amazing video Fehzan! Another question for you, thanks for your time 🙏🏾 I am planning on starting a graduate audit role at a small firm, studying for the ICAEW qualification. Will this kind of role provide me with the skills, insights and expertise to be able to eventually start my own business? My dream is to own my own business one day. P.s. I know I’ve commented on a few of your videos seeking advice, but I don’t have any family or friends who have insight into this profession, so your help is like gold dust I really do appreciate your help so much 🤝🏾
Yes in practice definitely you’ll get exposure from the ground up, build relationships with clients, and work in a tough environment - all key requirements for starting your own business
Another great video! Would be grateful if I could ask your opinion I am planning on starting a graduate audit role at a small firm, studying for the ICAEW qualification. Once I have obtained my ICAEW qualification at a small start up firm (not currently listed on top 100 accounting firms), what is the breadth and scale of career opportunities that would be available to me as a newly qualified chartered accountant? And will the fact I obtained my ICAEW qualification at a small start up out of top 100 firms affect my ability to be a successful accountant and eventually work my way up to a role on 100k+? Thanks for your insight, really appreciated 🙏🏾
No you’ll be absolutely fine you actually may find a quicker route to partner at a smaller firm - but even if you didn’t want to you can work your way up, I’d say generally organisations are now more open to candidates from different backgrounds - at first the big companies wanted people from the big 4 only but they are diversifying
Thank you for your informative content Fehzan. You provide amazing insight that is hard to find elsewhere. I’m hoping you can share some of your insight applied to my personal situation… I graduated (not in a business/maths/accounting subject) 6 years ago, and since then I have been working as a professional in a career that is totally unrelated to accounting. But, I am planning on a career change into accounting. I am sure I want to become an ICAEW qualified chartered accountant in 3 years, and so I have applied for grad schemes listed on the ICAEW website. I am looking to work in London. Many of the roles I have applied for are on the lower end of the top 100 firms, and some are start ups that are not yet listed on the top 100 accounting firms. There is rough guides on Big4 salary progression, but not much on smaller accountancy firms. What should I expect for my salary progression at: -3 years? -5 years? -7 years? -10 years? (I appreciate you won’t know exact figures, but from your experience, what should I typically expect) Also, If I begin my career at a start up outside of the top 100 accounting firms, is it likely I will need to move into a bigger company to reach the 100k+ salary? If so, will larger accounting firms look at me unfavourably if I have obtained my ICAEW qualification at a smaller start up outside of the top 100. Thank you so much for your time and help, much appreciated. 🤝🏾
Is Pathway Route For ACA membership Via ACCA is Useful?
Not imo the qualifications are very similar only time it would be useful is if an employer had a specific requirement for ACA
Bro i got a good job in finance doing accounts at my local book store. Pays over £17k and only 22. Only got 3 gcse passes at grade C. Maths was E and English D but got C in lit . So ya dont need grades or education to make it in finance. Just on job. My manager is 33 and already on £24k. Drives nice car and own home.
Happy for you - potential is there
I am currently 19. I finished my Alevels last year and got what I needed for university. However I chose a college course that was similar to what the university course I picked. After one year on this course I really regret my decision. It is overflowing with way too much content and the management in the college is horrific and don’t really care for the course. At the end of it I will be able to get into a really good career but I just feel like in the long run this isn’t worth me running my mental health into the ground. To make it worse my dad is the main tutor for the course so I feel like I would be disappointing him if I drop out. I don’t know what to do
Value your health above everything else - if you hate it then speak to your dad but make the conversation easier for yourself. Have a plan ready on alternative options to talk him through, so he doesn’t feel like you’ll be wasting your potential.
Acca is global, no one can beat acca
You could be right
Salaam Fehzan, Jazakhallah for all the helpful videos. Upon completing a levels including a level accounting if I'm unable to find an apprenticeship would you recommend going to uni and going through that route. Personally I am discouraged to go down that route due to the debt and lack of experience compared to an apprenticeship as well as having to pay for things like the professional examinations. Do you have any tips on how to get or find an apprenticeship in accounting and what sectors do you think are the best to get into i reckon tax or forensics. But near me ive seen nothing offered in terms of forensic accounting. Also, working as an accountant what's your advice to avoid interest/riba and recording or being involved with it. جزاك الله خير brother
Wa alaykum as salam there aren’t any forensic accounting apprenticeships that I’m aware of but don’t worry you can specialise in forensic accounting after you qualify - with many careers in accounting and finance you can switch service lines once you qualify. I’m a big fan of audit, it’s where I started and I know you can switch into different lines but I know many people don’t like audit - my advice is get into a top firm and you’ll find doors will open to you. If you’re unable to find an apprenticeship take a year out, work, and apply again. I had to do that, and it hasn’t held me back
@FehzanMehdi Jazakhallah Khair for the response sir. If I do end up taking a year out and working there's no guarantee that I'd get an apprenticeship the following year so is the risk of not going go university really worth it? I mean it's still an option in my mind of course it's not convenient in a manner but still it should get the job done In'Sha'Allah. So what do you think about that? Also the factor of riba/interest are there any sectors that are guaranteed to either be involved in it and sectors that are guaranteed to avoid it? In my head the switch from a levels to going out to either uni or apprenticeship is such a big jump and I appreciate the advice. Also what's the difference between audit and typical accounting is it that audit mainly check and verify the accountants work?
Hey!
Hi, if I was to achieve AAU in A levels and retake the U subject the following year, would I have a chance in landing an apprenticeship that's level 4 or higher?
Yes some places don’t accept retakes but you should be fine
akhi i am a muslim also trying to become an accountant and i have a question: are there any types of accounting that meet the following requirements and if so which ones are they: - no interest involved - can work from home - lower work hours (basically nothing over 40-45 hours a week)
It depends on each specific role there isn’t a branch of finance or accounting which will 100% meet your criteria - best thing for you is to get a few years experience then go and open your own firm
must be visibl aided
capex engineer, there is no magic in accountancy, why someone need 7 years to record numbers it's blowing my mind...much appropriate for explaining scholing politics behind this
I'm assuming it's because one would need to know about company law, tax law, etc, not just manipulating numbers.
Assalamualaikum. Is accounting job halal.
If you work with interest then no. But there are roles where you don’t have to work with interest
I hope to be professional in finance but I have no enough experience 😢.. cuz there is no ability to make me in any of the companies 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

Asalamu alaykum akhi im currently in year 12 and degree aprenticeships for 2025 havent opened yet but i wanted to ask if gcses matter too much when applying to these apprenticeships as i currently have 3 As predicted for year 13 in maths bio and finance however at gcses i got 6s in maths and science but a 9 in english. will this heavily affect my chances of getting a degree aprenticeship?
They do matter in terms of you need to have pass grades or 5 - the fact that you have a 9 and 6s means you should be fine - shouldn’t see an impact
Can you progress onto a level 6 apprenticeship after doing a level 3 post gcse
Yes you can however you may find opportunities are limited as many level 6/7 apprenticeships require a levels or btec
walakium asalaam
Salam I want to ask for your advice regarding taking CPA / CMA I am a fresh graduate looking for an answer ultimately, I want to work at budgeting and FP&A but I think working at audit will benefit me IDK what to choose
Audit can be a good starting point from which you can go into a range of careers including FP&A. Very rarely have I seen people switch from another career to audit.
Thank you this was really helpful
Glad it helped
Corporate careers are life changing, literally. When I was 18 I had very poor a level results and worked for minimum wage washing pots in a kitchen. After Uni I started on 27,000 and now 7 years later I’m earning 50,000 and interviewing for roles at 80,000.
Good on you - hope you continue to see success!
@@FehzanMehdi Thanks, they offered me the job today!
Amazing video brother
Thanks
The right information at the right time... Thank you Fehzan!
No worries glad it helped
helllo your video is vey understandable my question is if i don't leave once i clear my training than do i have to pay any amount of money to employee? as far as i know its no but for my confirmation i want to know second thing is while working i have to go to college i mean i didn't understand that how many hours do you know that?
1) no if you stay with the firm they shouldn’t ask for the training costs back 2) the hours will depend on your method of study if the firm pays for you to attend college then it works out on average for a few days per exam
Accountants and content writers really need to understand... we pay them not to use AI.
Long may that continue
I am graduating give advice where to start now.
Look at grad schemes to see if you meet the entry requirements
Hi there, i was doing Acca in pakistan and now moved to UK and my last exam is left, can you please guide me on how to apply for apprenticeships? Thanks
Depends on if you meet the entry requirements do you have right to work? And do you meet the a level requirements? Also if you have a degree you may not be eligible for many schemes.
As Salam O Alaikum I'm currently an ACCA qualified professional and feeling uncertain about whether to pursue a path in audit focusing on assurance or to venture into the advisory side. My main concern is if I start in audit now and later decide to transition to a financial analyst role after two years, would that be feasible? Would companies value my experience in audit when considering me for a financial analyst position? I'm really struggling with this decision and would appreciate some clarity on the matter.
Wa alaykum as salam yes that’s feasible audit provides many exit opportunities financial analyst, accountant, internal audit, asset management are all examples of areas you can go into from audit
where do i find accounting/finance apprenticeship
Please search this on my channel - I have a video on this with links in the description
My problem with the Big 4 wasn’t so much the hours, it’s just got management culture. Specifically, in my case, partners being complete dumbasses who just feel the need to try in being in new revenue no matter what, even though there not actually good enough salesmen to truly bring in new business. The majority of parters are just accountants that really have drank the koolaid that’s been sold to them. Their idea of bringing in new business is acquiring other firms and cutting costs by outsourcing, because that’s literally the easiest thing any idiot could do. Problem is, that leads to a terrible cut throat environment, as well as inefficiencies all over the place.
Thanks for sharing yes agreed with a lot of this especially the part around inefficiencies.
I am an accounting student in Canada with only two years left to graduate. Can you suggest any small firms for me to apply to in the US?
Hey Aaron apologies based in the uk so not the best person to advice on the US
Hi I wanted to know is a graduate recognised more or A person takes the apprentice root and are the salaries different depending on root taken to become a chartered accountant. Thank you look forward to your response.
Not once they’re qualified they should be recognised equally in terms of their salary and seniority but during training years graduates are paid more and sometimes can be seen as more senior
Hello i have secured a position for ACA trainee 2024 but the contract says i will start the training on pate August 2024 and my employment agreement will start on December 2024 subject to passing the 3 ICAEW Certificate level modules. Can you please tell me which are the 3 certificate level modules?I am planning to buy the ebooks of these 3 modules and start practising since i am not working right now and i will be able to learn everything in advance.Thank you!
There are 6 certificate level exams not 3 so your contract may be referring to a specific 3 modules. I’d expect one of them to be Accounting.
Hi Fehzan, is the pay difference significant qualifying from a small high street practise as opposed to a top 10 firm?
It can be c. up to £5-7/8k.
Bro, thanks for the information. I just wanna know that I am an international student in undergrad in business management and I want to pursue accounting after my degree and I found that it is very difficult to find a good job after my degree as well as sponsorship. I am totally confused plz suggest something.
I have done a video to help international students by providing more information please watch that
Thanks for your advice. I will be sitting BST this month. What would be your advice in terms of the order of sitting the advanced level. I sat FAR quite a while ago (AA was my first professional exam, FAR was my second), BST is my last. You mentioned that there is some overlap between CR and SBM. Bearing in mind that I am siting BST now, do you think SBM as my first advanced exam will be the better choice? Many thanks for your time
If strategy is your next exam then I’d recommend SBM in the summer sitting probably the easiest exam out of the advanced stage and links in well with strategy.
Thanks! I am also going to try voice-overs on fiver. People say I have a nice voice, and sounds pretty easy haha!
Go for it hope it works out for you
Thanks! I am also going to try voice-overs on fiver. People say I have a nice voice, and sounds pretty easy haha!
Loved the video. As a student considering an apprenticeship leading to an ACA qualification, I was wondering if taking a year out after my A-levels would hinder my application as that is an option I am considering.
No you should be fine I took a year out to retake but lots of people do to travel the world, take a break etc. I know some people still applied in year 13 and then asked to defer the offer.
Im doing A levels right now, doing business A levels, computer science b tech and last maths A levels, i want to do finance or accounting. Im finding maths A levels difficult so might consider As and do a different As in year 13.What do you reckon is required for a level 4 degree apprenticeship in finance or accounting? Will i still be eligible for it? Appreciate it jazakhAllah khair
Yes you will be a level maths is not required wa iyaak
@@FehzanMehdi but isn’t the minimum 3 A levels/B techs? What if i do 2 A levels or b techs and 2 As levels
Thought you were asking just about maths but yes you’re right you need to have the equivalent of 3 a levels which can be a mix of btec and a levels - some firms will only consider your top 3 qualifications and that’s it. So if you go with the 2 AS options you may not be eligible for all schemes
@@FehzanMehdi so i will need to do maths no matter what as im already half way gone,so better to just stick with it
