    I think a big lean forward and getting as close to the board might be the biggest advantage once the grip and such are mastered. I find this to be the most difficult, leaning forward and keeping stable and comfortable. Is putting a counter weight in the left shoe legal? I'm curious. I have tried this and it makes a huge difference and improvement, great lean and no extra stress when throwing. I would like to hear if anyone else has tried this.

    any tip for short people to have a better aim?

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Great question! Height doesn’t determine your aim - your technique does! Focus on these tips: Stance Matters: Stand stable with your lead foot pointing at the target. A balanced stance gives you better control. Elbow Position: Keep your elbow aligned with the dartboard. Height differences can make this tricky, so practicing consistent alignment is key. Focus on Release: Smooth and controlled throws make all the difference. Practice releasing the dart at the same point every time. Own Your Style: Experiment with grip and throw mechanics to find what feels most natural for you. Remember, accuracy comes with repetition. Short or tall, it’s all about consistency and practice! 🎯

    Is there no rule regarding the weight?

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Good question! According to the official rules, darts can weigh up to 50 grams. However, most players, including pros, typically use darts between 18 and 26 grams. Heavier darts can offer more stability, but they require more control and strength. Experimenting is key to finding the weight that works best for your throw style. 🎯

      Great question! 🎯 One helpful trick is to imagine yourself as a tree with deep roots. Picture your feet firmly planted in the ground, steady and unmoving, like roots anchoring you. This mental image can help you feel grounded and prevent unnecessary movement. Remember, it’s all about finding balance and staying relaxed at the same time.

    I just bought a dart, and set it up. I am a short guy, so the dart board is a little bit higher is this ok? I am 5'4 and the dart is 5'8,,,... its too hight for me..

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Congrats on getting your dartboard! 🎯 The standard height for a dartboard is 5'8" to the bullseye, regardless of a player's height. It might feel high at first, but with practice, you'll adjust your throw to match. Focus on maintaining a steady stance and aligning your throw with the board. Over time, it’ll feel more natural. Stick with it-you’re on the right track!

    Just picked up darts again after years of not playing. My issue is knowing what weight will work best. I'm starting out with 26 grams but I also picked up a set of 23 grams. Also shaft length is another question. Right now it seems I'm all over the board with 23 grams and I find the same issue with short shafts. I guess my question is; what normally works best "on average" for those of us just starting out? I do have some moments when I finally get a good follow through going in my throw, but I am certainly not consistent. I do plan to purchase your bundle, hopefully that will be a big help and maybe by the end of the year I'll be ready to find a league to join. Thanks for any feedback

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Welcome back to darts! 🎯 Finding the right setup can be tricky, but you’re off to a great start by experimenting. Here are some tips: Weight: 26 grams is a solid choice for beginners-it offers good control without being too heavy. If 23 grams feels inconsistent, stick with 26 grams for now, as it might help you find stability in your throw. Shaft Length: Longer shafts tend to offer more control and stability, while shorter ones give a faster, more direct flight. For beginners, medium-length shafts are a great starting point to balance control and speed. Consistency: The key to improving is sticking with one setup for a while. Constantly switching between weights or shaft lengths can make it harder to build muscle memory. Choose one setup and practice consistently. Practice Follow-Through: You mentioned some success with a good follow-through-focus on making that a habit. A smooth and controlled throw with proper follow-through will improve your accuracy. Finally, joining a league is a fantastic goal! With regular practice and a setup you’re comfortable with, you’ll be ready in no time. And thank you for considering the bundle-it’ll definitely help you refine your skills. Keep it up, and enjoy the journey back into darts!

    That's not how you do the triangle test. All you demonstrated was a different version of the pointing test. For the triangle test you make a triangle on a distant object (like you showed) and then bring your hands back to your face. Keep bringing them back until you're only looking out of one eye through the triangle. That's your dominant eye

    How to aim better: "Do everything else better and develop muscle memory"... helpful

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Fair point! 😅 While muscle memory is key, it’s not the only piece of the puzzle. To aim better, focus on your stance, grip, follow-through, and consistency. Building muscle memory ties it all together over time. It’s not a flashy answer, but it works! Stick with it, and you’ll see improvement. 🎯

    I used to find too heavy would slip back in my fingers on release. Too light took too much effort.

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Great observation! 🎯 Finding the right dart weight is all about balance-literally! If it’s too heavy and slips on release, try adjusting your grip or going slightly lighter. If it’s too light and feels like extra effort, a medium weight (around 22-26g) might be your sweet spot. Keep experimenting-you’re already on the right track by paying attention to how they feel in your hand.

  • @rageuproar6871

    Its hard af for me to be honest. Im right handed but my left eye is the dominate eye. I know this was the case for phil taylor aswell but he was just a freak of nature at darts. Its really hard for me. I cant even bring the dart to my dominate eye without negatively effecting my aim too much and making me not throw straight

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      You're not alone in this-it’s a common challenge for cross-dominant players! 🎯 Phil Taylor did make it look effortless, but there are ways to adjust your technique to work with your dominant eye rather than against it. Here are some tips: Stance Adjustment: Try angling your body slightly so your dominant eye naturally aligns with the dartboard. This way, you don’t have to force the dart to your dominant eye. Focus on Consistency: Instead of worrying about perfectly aligning with your eye, focus on repeating the same throw motion. Muscle memory can overcome alignment issues over time. Experiment with Aiming Points: Some cross-dominant players aim slightly differently-e.g., focusing on the area near the target rather than directly on it-to compensate. Practice Patience: It might take longer to find a technique that works for you, but it’s all about small adjustments and plenty of practice. You’ve got this! Even legends like Taylor had to work with their natural quirks-yours could end up being your hidden strength. 💪

    How about rotation, is it useful

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Great question! 🎯 A dart’s rotation in the air doesn’t significantly impact its trajectory-unlike a football or a frisbee. However, a little rotation is natural because of the way most players grip and release the dart. What really matters is: Consistency of Release: As long as your throw and release are consistent, the rotation won’t interfere. Flight and Stability: Proper flights ensure the dart stays stable, regardless of rotation. Natural Throw Style: Don’t force rotation; focus on a smooth release, and let the dart’s natural spin happen. If the rotation is excessive or makes your darts wobble, it’s worth tweaking your grip and release. Otherwise, a slight spin is perfectly fine! 🎯

    • @hauzio

    So basically, as a beginner you should do the pen grip. But when you want to play like a pro, you can hold your dart as you like.

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      Not exactly! 🎯 The pen grip is a common starting point because it’s simple and easy to control, making it great for beginners to build consistency. However, as you develop your skills, it’s less about a 'pro grip' and more about finding what feels natural and works best for your throw style. Even pros like Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor, and Peter Wright have completely different grips-it’s all about personal preference and muscle memory. So, start with the pen grip if it feels comfortable, but don’t be afraid to experiment as you improve. The 'perfect grip' is the one that gives you the most control and accuracy. 🎯

    • @DartsDecoded
      @DartsDecoded 11 дней назад

      That’s a fantastic training routine! 🎯 Breaking it down into smaller, achievable targets is a great way to build consistency and accuracy over time. Focusing on specific sections like this also trains your muscle memory and improves your mental focus. Starting with 9 successful throws and gradually increasing is a perfect approach for beginners and beyond. Thanks for sharing-good luck to everyone trying it out! 🤞🏻😊
