Thanks! It also kinda sounds like the 2020-2024 CE Cummins fan as well. Also I remember the MBE powered FS65’s my district had and the engine fans sounded different than the ones on your district’s.

Thanks! This bus was cool but I liked 266 more because its engine sounds better. It’s a 2017 IC CE with the same Cummins. Both are ready buses however ( ready buses are for use in case of sudden defects with your usual route bus. It has all sped equipment for wheelchairs set up already)

Also you could hear the axle hum on this bus during engine braking. It’s really quiet however and I could barely hear it most of the time unless we were slowing down.

Also ready buses are gen ed and sped. Bus 12 is one of the gen ed ready buses. It’s a 2017 Thomas C2 with the Cummins ISB6.7l.

Nice. This bus’s sister bus 253 is a 2009 IC CE300 with the Maxxforce DT engine and same specs as 254 except theirs probably has an exhaust brake and 254 doesn’t. 253 also has a light gray floor unlike 254 which has a dark gray floor.

@@LeTeizJordan317 our 2005-2012 IC CE buses have blue seats and 2016-2025 buses have gray seats. Some of the 2006 buses had their seats replaced and or were ordered with gray seats.

@@LeTeizJordan317awesome. There’s a lot of handi buses in my district. 270-279 are all 2022-2023 IC CE’s with the Cummins B6.7. They are all handi buses. 266-269 are anywhere from 2017-2019 IC CE’s.

I like them too. Also the driver who was on the radio asking about where the school was is one bus over from ours in 255. It’s an IC CE with a Maxxforce DT but I don’t know the year.

I just wish that the turbo whistle was louder. It whines a lot but hardly whistles. Bus 46 has a much louder turbo.

@@stevenkbuses and I wish the video would capture just how good this engine sounds IRL. I noticed it picked up on most of the mechanical sounds of the engine like the valve train gear whining in the first video but didn’t hear them as well in the second. What I mean by valve train gear whining is the typical whining that the DT’s have under hard acceleration.

@@stevenkbusesI definitely will make another video this upcoming week and get a video of the bus’s engine fan. It is usually on when it’s first started up cold in the morning like the other viscous clutch fan equipped buses.

@@southernbustransportation thanks! It was nice to ride 235. It’s a 2007 IC CE handi with eyeMax cross view mirrors. The reason I had to ride along is because the lift on our bus stopped working so I directed the driver (which he was behind us) to the wheelchair kid’s stop. So me and his para switched buses.

Also the axle reminded me of bus 23 my bus from 8th grade. It’s also an 07. (I did say it was an 06 but they’re basically the same thing). 23 had its shiftpad replaced though because it doesn’t have one screen that shows “5” when it’s in drive like the other 07’s but has 5 1 5 2 5 3 and so on when it shifts if you know what I mean. It has an Allison 3000 PTS.

Also glad it sparked a memory for you. I’ve rode so many different buses this semester all being CE’s I’ve been on 06’s 07’s and one 2017. The 2017 bus 266 sounds like bus 31 but had a quiet rear axle hum and 5.57 axle ratio unlike bus 31. Which I have no idea what rear axle that one has.

I certainly have more videos of this bus coming soon. For some reason I think my videos of this bus don’t capture how good the engine and rear axle sounds at the front. There’s sounds that the camera just won’t pick up sometimes. I know it sounds good but just me being a bit critical of my own videos and comparing it to other videos of Maxxforce DT’s. Glad you like it though!

@@ShaneShadd I know it sounds great once it’s warmed up. This bus has a loud rear axle too. This is probably the second great sounding DT I’ve recorded.

Also the 2019’s in my district also sound like this. I rode on 121 3 years ago and I was surprised with how identical they sound. The rear axle on 121 is louder though.

Slightly different way than the last video because the left turn light is long plus the green only seems to last 20 seconds before going red again

Audio quality doesn’t seem as crisp as it usually is. I can barely hear the turbo on the Cummins. Other than that seems ok. Edit seems RUclips lowered the audio quality because on my phone it sounds extremely clear

Me too. I’d like to see how loud the 2021 and 2024’s rear axles are.

Also I bet you loved bus 50’s rear axle too. That c2 has a loud hum

@@stevenkbusesit’s interesting how the 2019 (bus 121) I rode had a slightly louder rear axle than bus 31’s. On the highway, the hum at 65-75 was very pronounced. Plus whenever we’d accelerate it seemed a little louder than my bus’s at least I remember it that way. So I bet the 2021 would be similar in noise level. Not so sure about the 2024’s. But it’s too bad I can’t ride one.

@@stevenkbuses I’m upgrading my cloud storage soon and getting my battery replaced on my iPhone 11. It’ll be recording ready whenever that happens. I’ll keep getting in shorter clips of bus rides and occasional long rides.

My bus has new General tires that sound good. You can kinda hear them towards the end. That axle sounds really good too.

Also I’m not sure what gear ratio this bus has. I do know that all of the IC CE GenEd buses with the Cummins have the same rear axle gearing. But the older 06-2012 (gen ed and sped )CE’s have 5.57 rear gears based on a video I watched of a ce with 5.57 axles. A couple 2006 Gen ed CE’s have 4.88 axles though one of which is retired now.

And the Cummins powered 2016-17 C2’s in my district have 5.57 axles as well.

How do you know what sounds it makes? The bus driver never used the turn signal in this video.

@@arandomperson8i didn’t hear anything at all from the video except the engine, tire chains, tire noise, fan and chatter of kids. I bet it was a 2017/18 in 2019 bluebird updated the gauge cluster. This one was prior to the update.
