I love the hum sounds depends on what kind a tire they use like this one bus thats a 2017 or so had a loud rear axle sound when it was turning by from my stop
Also I’m not sure what gear ratio this bus has. I do know that all of the IC CE GenEd buses with the Cummins have the same rear axle gearing. But the older 06-2012 (gen ed and sped )CE’s have 5.57 rear gears based on a video I watched of a ce with 5.57 axles. A couple 2006 Gen ed CE’s have 4.88 axles though one of which is retired now.
@@stevenkbusesit’s interesting how the 2019 (bus 121) I rode had a slightly louder rear axle than bus 31’s. On the highway, the hum at 65-75 was very pronounced. Plus whenever we’d accelerate it seemed a little louder than my bus’s at least I remember it that way. So I bet the 2021 would be similar in noise level. Not so sure about the 2024’s. But it’s too bad I can’t ride one.
Also the 2019’s in my district also sound like this. I rode on 121 3 years ago and I was surprised with how identical they sound. The rear axle on 121 is louder though.
The 2016 IC CE I ride actually has a decent axle noise if you sit where the wheel-well would be. It sounds good but I bet it sounds awesome at higher speeds!

My bus has new General tires that sound good. You can kinda hear them towards the end. That axle sounds really good too.

my districts 2017 CE rear axle only gets loud around 45 mph (80 ish kmh)
