Hi Dr. Bret Palmer, After a kiss, the next morning i got three small pimples (I don't know exactly what they are called). One is present in between the lip line. There was no tingling, no heat sensation, no pain, no pus, and no clusters. My doctor did HSV tests within 6 days. The results were: IgG (ELISA Range 16 - Negative, />16 to <22 - Borderline, />22 - Positive ) --> results are 5.45 IgM (CLIA Range Negative 0.9, Equivocal 0.9 to <1.1, >= 1.1 Positive )--> results are 0.5 Meanwhile, before getting the results, my doctor told me that it could be herpes and prescribed Acyclovir I.P. 5% w/w in a cream base and AMOXYCILLIN-500MG + CLAVULANIC ACID-125MG tablets. He thought the 5.45 result was positive for HSV-1, not realizing it was an ELISA result (he thought it was CLIA). After prescribing these, he changed the dose to Acyclovir 400mg tablets and Aceclofenac 100mg + Paracetamol 325mg tablets. While using these tablets for 7 days, I felt body heat every time and had trouble sleeping. After carefully considering the results, I realized they were negative. I checked the ELISA report properly, then went to my doctor and told him everything. He suggested I retake the IgG test, and the same negative result occurred. After 30 days, I retook the same test with the same lab, and the result came back as HSV-1 IgG 38.4 (CLIA). Within 3 days, I went to another lab (this lab only gives reports as positive or negative) and had the test done with ELISA. The result was HSV-1 IgG positive. Meanwhile, I’m feeling more anxiety, stress, and weakness due to the fear of getting an issues. Every test has shown IgM negative. So, based on the above values, did I get a new infection, or have I already had it? Do I need to retest? And am I now in the non-active stage? I have no symptoms like blisters, tingling, pain, or fever-just stress. When I applied coconut oil to the pimples, they went away within 4 days (total healing took 7 days). The pimples burst over on the 3rd or 4th day with no pus, and I had pain when moving my lip/jaw due to burst pimples. The coconut oil worked better than the medicine. Will medicine change test results?
