Diamine Inkvent 2024 - Day 15 #inkmas2024 #advent
Great choices! I have a Red Abalone in the Capricorn model from Bart and just love it. When I use it I feel like I always take a few minutes to turn the pen to see all the great colors it has.
loving this ink series! thank you for sharing
You are most welcome!!!
New Subscriber here. I just came across your channel and I love your creativity. My wife makes crafty stuff including pens and she's pretty good but these are so cool. I show this video to her, she loved it.
Oh that’s awesome!!! Welcome (to both of you)! What kinds of pens does she make?
Trust U is gorgeous - this was a fun comparison! I love Three Ink Thursday 😀😀
Thank you! I have Trust U in my cart at two online vendors and I’m contemplating if I want to add more to get free shipping and if so what inks do I feel that I need a full bottle of or do I not fall into that trap and just pay the shipping. I always play this game with myself (while secretly hoping the online store will email me a coupon to complete my purchase).
@ you just explained my inky life 😀😀😀🤪🤪🤪
I really like these 3 colors. They are so vibrant. Makes it feel like spring is coming. And that first ink is just amazing to look so different on each type of paper. Great color combos to compare!
Thank you! You are so right that these colors are very spring - I am feeling the hope for an early spring this year!
I just found your account. Thank you… do you have a video of how you catalog your pens? Saw a binder you pulled out briefly.
I want to catalogue them better! I have a journal that I have done all my swatches and initial pen tests in that is almost full and I plan to do a flip through of that!
Also, welcome!!!
I've noticed this was robert oster collabs as well - I only own 3, but they are more lubricated than the other non collabs
Thank you! I am glad I’m not the only one!
Oh that frosted orchid is gorgeous! I'm sorry you are dealing with this crud - we had covid around Christmas and I'm just now feeling healthy (minus the other chronic things I got going on).
Covid around Christmas sounds terrible!!! I hope you are feeling much better now! I am feeling pretty healthy (knock on wood!)
Kwz old gold I bought to get near this and my Noodlers Burma road brown is a green yellow brown I love. Dark green browns like diamine salamander are good. Robert Oster detox is another beautifully ugly ink more yellow. Kobe has interesting inks near this but I’ve not tried them yet. Sailor shikiori tea colors trend around Ina ho.
I have the Kobe ink on my wishlist! I will have to check out these other inks!
I have this pen. It is my favorite pen. I use it every day. I enjoyed the video!
I love that we have this pen in common!
I love seeing inks other people are using! I am new to your channel. I have had fountain pens but more for sketching now I am getting into the beautiful inks! Love and light to you
Welcome! I’m happy to have you as part of this little family! I wish I had the artistic abilities to sketch as I can only imagine that sketching with a fountain pen would be so enjoyable! Plus, the dual use of ink…. Yes to all of that!
Did you find the Diamine Good Tidings smeared after you let it dry for a while? I've been scared to use it after I saw Mountain of Ink's poor review
Sleigh ride has smudged way more in my experience. I haven’t had any smudging with good tidings but I did use blotting paper while writing. Sleigh ride smudged days after writing with adequate dry time
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 thank you for the quick reply! I appreciate it 💙
You are MOST welcome! I try to keep up with comments because I really appreciate a response when I comment on others videos but certainly there are times where days go by before I allocate the time to commenting. Lately though, knock on wood, I have been enjoying checking a few times a day and replying when I’m transitioning between buildings at work or while cooking dinner or watching a show, etc.
Congrats on your new pen. I think it says alot if this is your 3rd vanishing point. I tried it at the Philly Pen show and it felt comfortable. I think if i got one it would be the matte or the black or blue carbonesque.
I do love it but can appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea! I remember back in 2016 (maybe slightly earlier) I was really torn between the VP and Lamy 2000 but, if I’m being honest, I didn’t love the Lamy Safari so I purchase my first VP (and convinced myself that it was the only fountain pen I would ever need so it was ok to spend that much money… boy was I lying to myself!) and I was very pleased with my choice!
Pilot nibs always right more narrow than any other nib I have
That’s been my experience as well until I had the sailor fine nib and that “felt” like it was finer - I’m happy to be wrong on that, though!
Great Pen! I remember those Lindsey Scribbles layouts with the stickers! I think on some level I'm still influenced by them too.
I wish she still did them! They were really inspirational (and calming!)
@ Yes!
What a lovely video and new pen! 😊 As a newcomer, I greatly appreciate all the information you offer here. I’m happy you were able to receive this pen as a gift. It’s a stunner!
Much like the Jinhao - I would recommend the mahjong/moonman A1! Grab it from Amazon! You can get to know the body style in your hand and if you want to explore a vanishing point the big different will be the nib as it’s 18k but also more fine (I.e., the medium will be more fine in a VP as compared to the A1 medium). You could also consider getting the A1 and then buying the VP nib unit - stick with me and I’ll give you all the tips!
@ thank you 😊 I appreciate you and your tips! Glad to be here
Awesome! I love this pen... it is my daily writer, using Platinum Carbon Black. Enjoy!
I want to try carbon platinum black!
We are twining, I have both the matte black and the "stormtrooper" ❤ these are great for studying, they look and feel great and you've made an investment, I do find that most inks look darker in general when using this type of feed and tend to dry out a bit if and when not in use BUT this pen is a workforce, a keeper and someday will pass on to my son.
I love the VP and consistently talk myself out of getting them because I already have some. I really wanted the Taiwan anniversary pen as well! I am so excited we are twinning the the white and black!
Congratulations on getting this great pen! I was able to acquire the same pen in a trade recently. I agree with your husband on pen asthetics; this one was not up my alley in terms of looks. I wanted it because of how it feels. I didn’t need a pen that deploys quickly, but I love the feel of the click, and after trying Mike’s pen, I discovered I especially like the feel of the matte black texture and weight.
I also really love the feel of the matte and it’s a pen that I can bring to any meeting and not bring attention to myself! I actually talk about fountain pens (and of course have some ready to show off) when I have a job interview and they ask me to tell them something about myself that doesn’t pertain to my work history. Pens and running are my two anecdotes to humanize myself!
Thank you so much for this very informative video on the pen. I inherited the same pen from my late mother and enjoy using it. But I didn’t know anything about it - I do now 😊Thank you also for this slow paced video showing passion for the skill and the aesthetics of handwriting 🌞
Oh thank you so much!!! What high praise and I hope I can continue to bring valuable content!
Hi Erin, I really enjoyed hearing how you found the pen and ink pairings. I had a green ink in my Pelikan M400 this month too, like minds 💚 TFS 😊
I am honored to have a like mindedness with you!
You had a lot of 10's this month! PA Fieldstone is one of my all time faves.
I did! I was feeling very content with my pen and ink pairings this month!
oh my word, that Kintsugi pen !!
Right!?! It’s gorgeous and I love it!
I have a Lamy LX in maron and I love the colorway and when I write with it feels nice and cool to the touch. For February and March I plan to use pens that I have only used once in this past year.
You know, it does feel cool to the touch!!! I am still thinking about while entry level pen I’m going to use for February and I also want to use some pens that I haven’t visited in a while. We need to catch up!
Lovely line up for January! The Radius Settimo Marmo Bianco is on my to-buy list, but I call it the oatmeal pen. It looks to me more like rolled oats than coffee beans. Either way, it’s a really attractive pen. My experience with Tang Mi Se Blue is the same as yours, that it darkens over time in a pen, so I think it’s the ink itself.
I totally see the oatmeal!!! Interestingly in the Opus 88, Tang Mi Se Blue remained pretty true to color despite being inked up for a few months. While I’m surprised, I totally understand the shift in color with exposure to air (e.g., a cap that doesn’t have a very tight seal)
Here I am 9 months later , still sorta new and I’m just hearing of ina-ho last October
I learned about it just as it was discontinuing - I’m very thankful that I was gifted this bottle!
Catching up on videos I haven't seen! Happy to see this video :) Awesome pens & ink!
Thank you!!
I really like these. I want to try the top three. I may look at getting some samples when I start buying inks again. I have a sample of Taccia (Ta- Sha) Ume Murasaki. I should ink it up soon.
I believe that will be in my February lineup and likely in a waterman carene in amber
I like how DeAtramentis Beethoven is a slightly purple leaning brown. I should try Robert Oster Frankly Walnut.
I can give you a sample the next time we get together!
@ That would be great! Thanks Erin!
All three of these inks are stunning in color! Brava! Glad to hear your not has congested in voice, hopefully on the up and up to health! 😊
Health is improving (but I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I was in a classroom with kids that tested positive for flu the day after I was with them! Germs are everywhere!
@ 😮oh my goodness! I hope you do not catch the flu. That would be miserable. Sending all the healing light your way!
Love these samples. I have Taccia Ume Muraski and love it so much! It's going to be one of my February inks. Hope you feel better. Being sick for a while stinks.
I’m picturing it the Amber Waterman Carene - but I haven’t decided which pens I’ll be using next month yet so we shall see!
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 Ah..that pen is on my next list..can't wait to see it in your February currently inked!
I like seeing more people use Radius pens :)
They’re nice pens! The nibs write well (I have two different sized) and the bodies are pieces or art
I got this pen also with a stub nib. It's so nice looking. I didn't have a perfect ink though. I like the one you're using.
I think Diamine releases full bottles of their Inkvent inks in April - but I could be wrong! This has been a nice ink to use and I’m considering keeping this combination for a bit.
Oh, Erin! I’m so sorry to hear you are sick again. Sending healing thoughts your way. And, yay, to swatches on the megalodon; they are different to my eye, very fascinating indeed! May you get some rest time and feel better soon.
I appreciate this message! I am starting to feel better. This past weekend was a long weekend so I got an extra day of rest. The flu is going around one of the buildings that I work in so I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t pick that up!
I'm not a black ink person, but I have plans for Colorverse Shiny Black.
I hope those plans go well! 😂
Yay! I’m glad you liked the inks. My samples always leak. Sorry! Do you have any suggestions for how to keep them from leaking? I have really been enjoying the Diamine Winter Miracle ink you gave me in my Sailor Pro Gear Slim Northern Lights pen. The ink increased my enjoyment of the pen.
Oh that’s a perfect pen to pair that purple with!!! I don’t know that I have much to offer about the leaking other than getting it perfectly lined up (which I haven’t yet figured out how to do!). I noticed on two of them that the cap was just the very tiniest bit askew so I’m assuming that’s why it leaked. Having said that, I really do love those little glass containers!
Incredible rock, Don Quixote, 252, Laughing Kookaburra’s Crest, Trust U. I enjoy these videos!
I am also enjoying these videos and flipping back and seeing my thoughts (vibe) for each month!
Ooh that 1970 Kaweco is cool as heck
Thank you! It’s has the cutest little nib! I forget if I ended up finding it in this video but it was in my to be washed pen pouch
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 yes you showed it, it looks straight vintage out of the 70’s! If you told me it was really from the 70’s barely ever used I’d have believed you. 😆
Ughhh my 2nd pen is on its way, it’s that iridescent pearl Kaweco. I cannot wait it’s so gorgeous 🤩
I think you will love it! It’s very unicorn-esque! Did you get a little clip for the cap? (Not necessary but I’m interested in what color you may have selected)
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 yes I did! So the seller is sending it with a regular silver clip, but I got a silver deluxe clip from Jet Pens. So I have 2 options now, and how I see it is an extra clip if I get another one down the road. 😂
I don’t think I could get used to the pen clip where I write on the vanishing. I saw your comment on someone else’s ink review video, said your state (I won’t repeat) but I just wanted to say hi! We are in the same state! Are there ever any meetups that are welcoming for newbies?
Oh hey neighbor!!! Yes, there are! There is a Pen Show in the fall (typically in September) and the Pelikan Hub (sign up on the Pelikan website and you’ll receive emails as the date gets close regarding time and place). Also, I personally get together with two other RUclipsrs less often than I’d like but every few months! Email me at behavingwellwitherin@gmail.com and I can let you know the next time we meet up in the event you live in the area! Welcome to the community!!
@ ok will do! Thank you! 🙏🏻
Hmmmm….Mint Twist, Sunset Blush, your mix, Don Quixote, and Cranberry
Thank you for your choices, I love this combination!
The 5 I would pick…. 1. Taccia Ume Murisaki , 2. Sailor Ink Studio 252, 3. Diamine Twist (as Diamine produces a very nice experience in most of their shimmer inks). 4. BPC Ploughmans Pebble and last but definitely not least the Trust U .
Love all of these! I am surprised more people aren’t selecting Ume Murasaki… but if it’s not in the combination stars for this month it’ll be in one soon!
Taccia Ume Murisaki, I adore this ink, however I have it loaded permanently in my Visconti Homo Sapiens BronzeAge with an EF nib. BEAUTIFUL writer with this ink (to be fair I havent tried anything else because I adore this so so so so much!) It is VERY pink and not much brown in that combo. I NEED to try this is a MUCH wetter pen now. I got a bottle of the Don Quixote in my search of the perfect warm pink with brown undertones too. However I find that one to be quite dry in comparison to the Taccia. DEFINITELY ink up the UME MURISAKI, the experience is delightful.
Dry inks really frustrate me especially when it’s an absolutely beautiful color! My mind is picturing Ume Murasaki in the Amber Waterman Carene
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 i dont think you will be unhappy with the choice!
I am a sucker for shading and haloing, so my votes are for: BPC Ploughman’s Pebble; Inkebarra Brown Gray; your mix! Exciting; Trust U (so cool!); and BPC Sunset Blush Also, btw, I did pick up a Jinhao 82, fine nib, per our comments together on a previous video, and am loving it! Thanks for the suggestion! I have it inked up with Moonstone
Thank you for your choices! I’m so glad you like the jinhao 82 - it’s always nerve wracking to make a recommendation because pens and inks are very personal!
Lovely ink swatches! I love how semi muted they are. Birmingham Pen Co inks are definitely becoming a favorite of mine. Happy Writing ❤
Thank you so much! I’m definitely in a muted era right now! One commented called this palette “romantic” and I love that so much and wish I had thought of that!
@thejoyinpensandpaper890 oh! That is a PERFECT theme name for those colors! 💚💚💚
Trust U is in stock at *_Desk Bandit_* , they're located in Australia, so I don't know what the shipping will be.
Oh thank you!!! I’ll check it out - perhaps shipping is free with a bigger order (and this is the trap I consistently fall into!)
What a wonderful areay of colors! Its a tough choice this time around. Personally Im most drawn too: BPC Sunset Blush Inkebara Brown Gray Sailor Ink Studio #252 (I adore this ink but it is similar to the next one so you might not want to use both at the same time. I think it would look stunning in one of your white pens). Your custom ink definetly belongs in the mix Tono & Lims Trust U (which I think would be a perfect match for your Laban Rosa in Lilac) Honorable mentions to Diamine Cranberry and Diamine Mint Twist because I'd be super happy to see either of those as well!
Your comment/contribution just filled me with joy! I agree with the Laban Rosa Lilac being the perfect fit for Trust U! I also love Laughing Kookaburra next to Mint Twist - my eyes are seeing a bit of the green in the more saturated parts of the swatch… if I don’t pick it this month perhaps next month it will be back!
I like these colors, they are a little brighter than your usual blues, dark browns and greens. I seem to be more partial to purples lately. For February I am using pens that I have only used once in 2024. I also plan to use bright pinks, purples and some gold shimmer inks. Thanks for sharing.
I am going to try to be more intentional with using all my pens and include a more entry level pen each month. I enjoy flipping through these new pages of the inks I’m thinking of for each month because it is fascinating to see how the palette shifts
😇🩵🙏🙌
This is a gorgeous set of inks and has some of my faves like ploughmans pebble and the laughing kookaburra’s crest. Now I also really want to try the BPC Sunset blush - it’s lovely! (And your mix is beautiful).
Ploughman’s Pebble is a stunner and I keep wanting to play with it! I also am really interested in trying out the mix I made to see how it behaves
