House plant tour. Over 80 plants inside and out. Plus variegated philodendron find.
Просмотров 4 тыс.3 года назад
I finally did it! My first house plant tour! This video is massive and I apologise for that but I didn't know how to cut it down! I also wanted to explain that yellow sticky insect traps should not be used outside because they can trap beneficial insects, small bats and even birds. The glue is often toxic and these animals often die as a result. I accidently left one in a pot I put outside, but...
Making a moss pole for my vanilla bean + story time about getting sea urchin spines in my hand
Просмотров 5383 года назад
Heeeeeyyyyy guysss. Sorry it's been so long since my last upload. I have heaps of video ideas but I'm so time poor. The other day I managed to scrape my vanilla bean orchid off the bricks of my house and gave it a chop and planted it on a moss pole. Instead of an instructional video, I just tell you the, slightly disturbing, story of how I got my hand full of sea urchin spines (you asked for it...

Time lapse of cactus flower opening
Просмотров 603 года назад
Hey guys, this week has been hectic. So this week's video is something a bit different. Just a quick time lapse of my "lady of the night" cactus flower opening. I was stunned when it produced a flower! A friend game me it as a cutting before Christmas and here it is flowering! The flower only lasts one night, and was dead by the morning. The best growing pole for shingling plants
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.3 года назад
Recently I mounted my raphidophora cryptantha on a flat moss pole. This is definitely not an original idea, and there is probably better ways to make this, but I am super happy with how it turned out. And so is my plant! Thanks for watching! What's the best way to propagate succulents?!

Hey guys. In this video I tested out a few common ways to propagate succulents using sedum burrito. This video is by no means scientific, and was mostly for my own interest :) Enjoy! Music credit Track: Air Music by Oak Studios ruclips.net/video/Rtsy_kzCsjM/видео.html
How to turn a plant from soil to hydro (first time for me!)
Просмотров 20 тыс.3 года назад
The process I used in this video is not my own creation. I found it in a repost on a facebook group, so I'm not taking credit for it. I don't think you need to use it for tough plants like peace lilies, but it worked well for my calathea. Music Credit Music: Dreams - Bensound www.bensound.com Support by RFM - NCM: bit.ly/2xGHypM
Chopping up a big snow queen with manjula I found at Bunnings! + Beginner Propagation tips.

So I got super lucky and found a manjula at bunnings, sold as a snow queen. I decided to chop back all the reverted green growth to try and encourage more variegated growth! I’m not having success with hydro. I killed ivies and peace lilies. I have a pothos that is doing so-so. Maybe it’s that I wasn’t changing the water as often as you. I’ll try following your schedule next time. It seems the first weeks is a crucial time. I also have a sunlight problem. The only places where I have room for plants get either too much or too little sun. I can’t find a place where they get just enough.
I just dome a couple pothos and a peace Lilly this wknd. They look great. I added dollar tree rocks to keep them in place. I love the look of the rocks especially in clear vases etc.
How often do you put them in the seaweed mix please?
Yhe roots of my philodendron are kind of peeling, they turn mushy like root rot but it leaves a thinner lighter color root. Are they water roots or is it just rotting?
Mushy roots is a sign of rotting.
I have a hard time to keep this plant happy in its pot too !!
Thanks a million Meg for this great informative video, I've learned a lot from it 🙂 This is the best video I've ever seen explaining in details how to grow plants in water/hydroponic-culture. 👍🙂
What about chemicals leaching from the silicon?
People should say their full name of things not abbreviated . Hydro is there more to it?/
Hydroponic
lol
how are they doing now?
For watering, do you keep the moss moist? If I am growing it indoors, should I monitor the moisture through touch of soil?
Hi Meg hope u create a video, flexing your prayer plants with their names
I place my plants in water, change water once a week. No plant fertilizer. They are really growing. I learned a lot from your video.
Do you use plant cuttings or do you change your plants directly from soil to water?
@@turquoisechocolate3027 that's frustrating. I would say it's a lack of light problem. You could considering buying a grow lamp to help out. You can get globes that fit into normal lamps, just make sure the wattage is correct.
Thanks so much for explaining how much water to add. Now I know why I have root rot.
beautiful tutorial for indoor plant
very good idea for hydro planting
Brilliant! I’m a year late for this, but it’s exactly what I was looking for. I hadn’t seen any other RUclips videos making a flat moss backing other than a wood plank. Thanks so much for sharing.
no worries! Good luck!
Could you possibly give links in you description for instagram and also tell us what fungicide you use and if there is a particular seasol you use 😉
Hi there! Sorry it took me so long to reply. I have changed my instragram name to lazyplantgirl, so you will find me there. I use the standard version of seasol :)

Unnecessary noisy music in the background 😒
Thanks for your comment. Sorry the music was annoying for you. Making videos is a learning process for me and I'm pretty new to the whole process
THIS JUST HAPPENED TO ME TODAY! 🥰 & now I’m really scared to chop it up as I’ve got 0 experience, but it has so many aerial roots coming out where it starts changing colour 😍 Now YouTubing the crap out of how to cut a cutting 😂
Wow! Congratulations!! When I first got mine the Manjula part was really small so I waited until there were some aerial roots visible. So long at there are aerial roots you should be good to go! Good luck 🤞
It’s not snow queen it’s njoy lol
Hey. Thanks for your comment. Different countries have different common names ❤️
@@megh1131 no, snow queen is a completely different one, its more variegated with a lot marbling. yours is wether manjula nor snow queen, its a njoy pothos. has almost everywhere the same name. you can google it ❤️ would here be a photo function i would show you my snow queen and my manjula. yours is definitely neither one of them, pothos n joy its called :) ❤️
New subscribers watching from California hello 👋 friend wow that’s beautiful manjula pothos there so lushy mine still small it seems like there slow growing plants thanks for sharing your your beautiful video have a great 👍 day
Aww thank you ❤️ I find sometimes they will grow slow for a while and then they go crazy!
1:52 Love it!
Thanks

Hi Meg, I'm just wondering how your white fusion went after you cut it? I tried splitting mine a couple of months ago but chickened out after I heard roots ripping.
Hey! They both are doing great and a small section that fell off in the video and I put in water is now potted up as its own very small plant!
Mangiula on my wish list, I loved watching your beautiful plants collection, new here 🌺❤️
They are very pretty and seem super easy to grow! Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Very helpful information - your calatheas are very beautiful! Thank you for sharing what works in your home!
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️
Meg ime just experimenting, 2 failures so far with tile cemet and no nails, I think I might seal one pot less deep and just put a cap on 1 pot
Have you tried silicon? I recently dug mine up and moved them to another garden and they are still in great shape with water tight seals!
lovely plants !! :)
Thank you so much!
Great video beautiful plants!
Thank you so much!
So much good advise. Thank you for sharing. I've not tried an anti fungal on any of my prayer plants before. Going to try it on my Calathea, rattle snake, peacock & orbifolia...my rufibarbara rarely gets brown edging & none of my Marantas do...and I think I have just about every variety of Maranta one can have. Such fast, rewarding growers. They're easy to love. Also all of my prayer plants thrive under artificial, non-grow lights, pushing out new growth constantly in the interior of my home under typical led 4000k light bulbs; including Maranta, Stromanthe and Calathea. Agree that softer leaved Calathea are a lot more difficult...killed two white fusions & one zebrina. Thinner leaved Calathea and the Stromanthe triostar, hate having their leaves misted and will turn brown in my experience...I hose down my others from time to time without much fuss, thankfully, paranoid of spider mites after my 2 white fusions...the only plants that I know of, to have ever gotten spider mites.
Thank you so much for your lovely and detailed comment! I find rufibarbas to be super sturdy plants all around. I absolutely love my marantas as well, unfortunately there's not many available in Australia that are cheap and readily available! I'm glad my video helped you ☺️
Good video 👍
U have beautiful plants
Aw thank you so much ❤️
Thank you for sharing!
no worries at all. Thank you so much for watching!
Hi ! Very nice and interesting video :) what is the powder you put on the roots after cutting ? Is that cinnamon ? What’s the purpose of it ? Thanks a lot for your advices 😉
Hey. Thank you very much! Yes, it was cinnamon. It has mild antimicrobial properties, so a lot of people use it to stop a plant cut from getting infected ☺️ so far both plants are happy and healthy, so maybe it works! Happy planting!
@@megh1131 hi !! Thanks a lot for your reply. I’ll try it then ! I just repotted my white fusion with a brand new blended potting mix following parts of your advices, I hope it will survive because this morning it was a bit floppy 🥺 🤞🏻 and I just followed you on Instagram ! Thanks
@@human_aelle5904 No problem at all! It is perfectly normal for freshly potted plants to be a bit floppy/unhappy looking for a few days after, as they adjust. I'm sure it will survive! I know people who have had calathea die right back and then reshoot from only roots. So they're a lot tougher than we think! Thanks for following me on instagram! I look forward to getting to know you :)
Hi, can I replace the seasol with something else? Can't find it here
Hey, seasol is a seaweed soil conditioning solution. Maybe have a look at your local nursery or hardware store and ask for a similar product. They should be able to recommend one. Happy planting ☺️
It’s amazing Meg 😍
Thank you :) I thought so too!!
thanks for the video!!!!
No problems at all, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you stick around for when I manage to make a video on how to make one without power tools!
