PerenniaLight is dedicated to the exploration and implementation of what Aldous Huxley called (not coined) the "Perennial Philosophy." This could be defined as a universal teaching buried at the heart of all great myths, religions, mystery schools, various philosophies, and even woven into the framework of psychology, thanks to Carl Jung and his understanding of Alchemy.
"Theologians may quarrel, but the mystics of the world speak the same language". - Meister Eckhart
This language is the "philosophia perennis".
Like a sacred fire that burns beneath the surface of all spiritual traditions, this undercurrent of transcendent human truth is waiting for us to open our eyes and peer into the eternal flame.
Our mission is to keep that flame alive.

A Light History of Perennial Philosophy | Fanning the Flame
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.Год назад
This is only meant to be a surface level overview of Perennial Philosophy. There is so much depth to the subject that I felt it necessary to take baby steps. This is step one. Not every name mentioned here is a champion of Perennialism, but they all contributed to the conversation in some way. Sorry in advance for the pronunciations. 50,000 Thoughts Per Day | Mind Vs. Self

50k thoughts per day? No thank you. What are thoughts? Where do thoughts come from? Who's thinking them? In this video I compare the two leading theories of mental activity. By contrasting the Mind-Created Theory with the Self-Created Theory I attempt to shine a light on the problem of identifying with thought, and how it might contribute to mental health. These are NOT the only theories out th...

The Art of Inaction

Should humans feel guilty for acting lazy? Why are we the only animal that can't seem to relax? What separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom? Our societies push us to do more, work more, play more, create more... but is this inherently a good thing? All of these ideas and more are explored in this short video essay I've titled "The Art of Inaction", derived from an essay I wrote a whil...

I'm back, and I bring nuggets of anecdotal wisdom with me. I had to step away from RUclips and the internet in general for a while. It was a necessary part of my journey, and "time" well spent. Thanks for sticking around, I hope to make up for lost time!

Philosophy of the Dreaming God: A Video Essay on the Nature of Existence
Finding this book, is not easy.
I had one of those and threw it in the trash. Jung was a Satanist. I could feel my soul burning as I flipped through it.
Inside this shell, I glimpse the vastness of green, where life thrives in quiet abundance, and the decay of the black storm, relentless in its attempt to drown the ships of consciousness on an ocean devoid of lifelines. Yet, in this expanse, there is neither despair nor salvation, only the eternal dance of uncertainty and knowing, of drifting and anchoring. I behold in my eye, when all light fades, a light that twinkles in an unknown realm. It brings faith - quiet, unwavering - and a splendour that comforts in ways words can hardly capture. It reminds me that I am a shell, small and fragile, looking out into this boundless green, yet feeling more than just the observer. The vastness I see is as much within me as it is beyond. I am not what I see, but what I capture in the reflection of the looker, the silent presence beyond the veil, a reality so subtle that few men truly glimpse it. It is there, hidden between the folds of our thoughts and desires, that which we come to know only when falling into the shadowy abyss. In this descent, we grasp for a ledge - the fragile ego, trying to hold onto something solid, something real. But it is in that very grasp that we discover the illusion of solidity, the fleeting nature of what we think we are. For I know that I am not what I think I am, nor am I what I see - I am everything in between, a thread woven through the patterns of time, as distant and as near as the farthest star, flickering and unfolding with each passing moment. I am not the sum of what I perceive, but the essence of everything I know, everything I have touched with my thoughts and emotions, everything that has come to pass and is yet to come. In that knowing, I am both the observer and the observed, the dreamer and the dream, everything and nothing at once. And so, I stand at the edge of my own understanding, forever captured in the dance between the known and the unknown, between the green vastness and the black storm, always reaching for that flickering light, knowing that it is not outside of me, but within - hidden behind the veil of the shell I inhabit. But who am I, other than I am that I am and always will be? The confusion of knowing that I know and know not, I realize I am he that comes forth, but also hide myself in the shell that is me. I am tethered and trapped to myself like a dreamer not knowing when they are awake or asleep, projecting an outerwear from an inward self that is also an outer self. Am I that I am, or is that I am awakening within me, and is that awakening God? I am tethered to God, yet trapped within the confines of my own being, struggling to discern the boundary between what is truly me and what is projected into the world. Who am I, other than the essence of being itself, the reflection of the infinite, both the observer and the observed? In the silence of the self, I grasp for understanding, only to realize that I am both everything and nothing, endlessly unfolding within this paradox, always waking and always asleep.
Fantastic presentation. Thank you so much for sharing.

I bought The Reader's Edition first a few years ago. But it drove me crazy when I could not view the references to the illustrations. So I just got one off Ebay a few days ago. The only issue was a very slight tear in the book's outer cover, other than that it's mint. I won the auction for $100. Then the seller proceeds to wrap it in thin brown paper and ship it. Well, you can bet the shippers destroyed it. Dropped it, played catch with it ... tore the entire hard cover right off! They sealed it up with post office tape, gee thanks! lol! Obviously the person who sold it to me doesn't realize the value in books, especially this one. This book should have been wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a good, sturdy box. I did notify him, he was very apologetic. I could have asked for a refund, but I felt sorry for him so I didn't. While conversing through the ebay messenger I could tell he wasn't very bright. So I forgave him, didn't get a refund, kept the book and left NO feedback and wished him a good day. He was grateful, I felt good and bad at the same time, lol! He had a 98% satisfaction rating. But those ratings guarantee nothing, it's a crap shoot. At some point I'll track down a book repair shop to get it put back together. All the pages are pristine at least. Or I'll just cave and buy a NEW one off Amazon and sell/auction the other after I get it repaired to recoup some of the money. Great video! Thank you!!
Bran, the three eyed raven, from Game of Thrones ... another fisher king type character.

Happiness isn’t something you chase or attain. It’s already here. ‘That’ thing won’t make you happy - you make yourself so. You almost have to ‘convince’ yourself to be.
Jung definitely tripped on some psilocybin
Great thanks 🤩
Thank you for this video. It's really well done for a book I thought was obscure and hiding somewhere in the trove of books I have packed away. It is so relevant and beneficial to me at this time. What a pleasant surprise!

I still don't understand why or how we can have any thoughts if we are completely born without senses. I know that the thought experiment assumes that we have the same level of intelligence, but what does intelligence have to work with if the mind isn't able to import any information from any outside sources? How would one know the self if they've never seen a reflection or felt any stimuli?
there would still be the sense of being, the overwhelming feeling of being present even without knowing how u look like or how ur surroundings look like.
You helped me in this and the fisher king video. Gratitude. Yes, let us kindle this fire. Every spark of kindness is a star in heaven.
On the whole, I believe Jung didn't approve of the whole Eastern concept of liberation. That is why he said he had seen enough and so seeing Ramana was by no means necessary for him. India's spirituality must have disturbed the infrastructure of his mind and values so greatly that he wished he had seen less.
Thanku so much upload video namo Buddha ☸️☸️☸️

The tree has its roots in the earth and bough in the heavens, to be situated in the tree would mean a connection to the divine and corporeal, an intermediary or messenger. The fig tree is unique in that in that the flowers form inside the fruit, reffering to esoteric practices.
