During the creation of the routine file you will be prompted to set the marking speed and if you need to adjust it later on, you would go to "Menu" -> "Edit File" Depending on whether you have the pneumatic or electric version, the way in which the speed is adjusted is different. For pneumatic, you would set the distance of the stylus from the part and/or air pressure to adjust the speed. For the electric version, you'd simply set the marking speed as a percentage from 1 to 100%.

Yes, either the FS or the VS series can be used for reading symbology such as QR codes, bar codes, data matrices, etc. With the FS series, this feature is standard out of the box, while if you need the additional flexibility of the VS series, the code reading falls under the 1D/2D/DPM toolset that would need to be purchased for that functionality.

Depending on which distance kit you ordered with your EYE+ controller, you may need to adjust the working distance such that you are able to view the entirety of the calibration and vibratory plate. The camera calibration step is looking for the specific calibration plate pattern, so if it is not able to recognize the pattern, it will not successfully calibrate. After adjusting your working distance to view the entire pattern, adjust the lens so that the image is in focus and input the new working distance when prompted.

The FS/VS40 has an operating temp of up to 45°C when it's being powered by an external power supply though it's limited to 40°C over PoE per Zebra's specifications. Unfortunately, Zebra doesn't offer an official heatsink as a part of their accessory portfolio, but if you were to fabricate your own, it could be easily mounted to the camera.
