Making a Live… Live Edge Coffee Table | Juniperwood

Not a how-to video, I'm not nearly qualified to do that. I only used bunch of expensive tools that cost me a lot of money over a couple years to get. You can do it, too. (But really you can probably do it better than me with less tools, I'm still new here) A live edge walnut coffee table with built-in custom planter. This piece is made from live edge walnut slabs, complimented with solid walnut...

Hi Aser That is a nice design and great concept. Your open garage workshop makes a good backdrop. Like the guitar music in the video. I have subed and will check out more. Regards James One Handed Maker - Australia
Super nice video and stand! Congrats!
I am also a professional filmmaker, hobbyist woodworker who made his own guitar stand, and a lifelong KH fan. Stoked to have found your channel, dude!
Great looking table and a really nicely put together video. The narration was great and really complimented the build. You said that you don’t have the most followers…. But I can see that changing over the next 12 months.
Nice work as always. Congrats on the sponsorship and desk outcome. - Chris
Nicely done both the woodwork and the video. I know both take a long time, especially using a router sled on such a large table top but it turned our really nice. If you have one, an air compressor might help to blow the dust out of the river in between pours. Looking forward to what you create next!
Awesome job Aser, congrats on the partnership.
Letts goo!!! Lol
Nice video. Good luck on the journey! Based on this work you're going places!
Great video, you will do well with woodworking, you have the passion. Tip-get a set of hand held scrapers and you will cut down on sanding time.
Your spirit has blessed me this Day. Thank you. I needed this.
1:25 You say that it was a "absurdly long and inefficient bark removal process". I've taken ye olde chisel to pare off the bark myself so I was curious if you've learned of a better way of removing the bark.
Hi aser... I think its time to build a workbench. 😊 Greetings from Indonesia.
Beautiful work
The glorious feeling of demolding from epoxy 😂
I use a dado stack on that same dewault table saw! You can only do like 3/8 inch max but it still saves you a bunch of time and leaves a flat finish. Just make a zero clearance insert and bring the blade up.
Do you know what you are doing?
i’m liking every content of you I see to support your incoming boom bro
Great video and great build! Super creative my man
This video sucks
Aser, from one RUclips Woodworker to another you have accomplished a lot in your brief time on RUclips first level is woodworking, check. second level is film production double check third level is storytelling. check. much like Chris from Four Eyes Furniture . You have earned my subscription, Bodie Pyndus, “DIY Home, and Garden Projects.”
Really good video. The guitar stand looks so classic. You have a great style to your wood working.
Love that you made the edge a planter super unique and clean design 🔥
Getting a Two Cherries Instrument vibe from you young Sir. Great looking guitar stand, and a lucky Dad. Subscribed 🙂
Nice piece. You might want to consider switching to a jigsaw for breaking down stock because you were lucky that the circular saw only stalled in the wood and didn't kick back at you.
Thank you for the tip! Will definitely do that next time, want to avoid any kind of luck factoring in for safety. For this latest project, I did similar but instead took multiple small 1/4” passes until I made it through the slab with the circ saw. Is that another way to do it or do you think a jigsaw is still preferred? I want to know whats better and safer!
@@by-aser the thing you need to watch out for when using a circular saw is that the cut closes on the blade causing the saw to kick back at you. Shallow cuts may help provided you support the timber fully during the cut. A jigsaw would be safer but nowhere near as quick as the circular saw. It really comes down to what level of risk you feel comfortable with.
Subscribed ! Always down to support a career change. Having film experience and woodworking is a deadly combination for successs. Very therapeutic video.
I've just watched all your videos I can really relate with the seeing what other post and the success of others, A few people on other videos have said something that you'll be the next big wood YT channel, maybe you will I dont know. These are my favorite style of videos, The low key, regular guy that does it cause he likes it. Your film background is evident and makes it a lot easier and more relatable to watch, the process seems personal. I too am a woodworker its my job and it's fun and it sucks at the same time. Its hard and i often intertwine my identity with the quality of my products. But I know its not actually what gives me value, but the opposite. my workmanship is what gives the wood more value.
Love this build, earned a sub my friend. Keep it up.
Thank you, new projects coming soon and hoping to keep them coming for a long while.
Man such a awesome channel. Please be patient because your channel will be huge in no time.
Thank you! I have goals for this RUclips/Social Media, but my main goal is to get this furniture company off the ground and keep creating, so hoping with that as my anchor, the rest will come.
Never saw that trick ripping a straight edge with a...... Straight edge!
👏👏👏
Great content! Where's that laser (12:55 mark) from?
It's from Laser Pecker! amzn.to/4bxzdTN It was this one I got on Amazon as I was looking for a branding iron, figured this might be a little more versatile!
Battery saws are under power and meant for construction job sites. If you work mostly at home get a more powerful electric saw!!!
Lots of professional woodworkers use battery powered circ saws. I wouldn’t say they’re under powered at all. Lots of battery powered saws are quite good these days. Also, a battery powered saw is also an electric powered saw
I actually just got myself a TS55 because my latest project has me cutting some plywood that I struggled to cut straight, and then have to square off the edges on the tabletop, so that'll help a lot I hope!
I love being battery powered for breaking down sheets of ply at the big box store if I have to in a pinch, and also for doing rough cuts so I don't have to drag too much over to make the cut. Seems like I'm going to be using both of them in future projects!
I like the concept of succulents a whole lot better than epoxy. Another great video, keep it up. - Chris
Thanks! I think it may be a recurring theme in some of my builds, it was well received locally, and it pretty much flew out of my living room and sold as soon as I said it was available, haha.
Amazing content man! Looking forward to more videos to come.
Also a new woodworker I've got a list for you! 1. Blade guard for the table saw can prevent 99% of instances of amputations (Stumpy Nubs) and it's SO EASY on that Dewalt saw 2. The M3 extract cubitron sandpaper will CHANGE YOUR LIFE, I've been able to get it on Amazon 3. If your domino has a side-to-side alignment issue, I've got a simple fix for you, just let me know. 4. if you start really getting into woodworking as your main gig, look at working part-time at a local Woodcraft, if you're lucky, it's a fantastic learning environment, they usually have a shop/classroom with very high-end tools you can use, and the employee discount is AMAZING on some items. I wish you great success and God bless!
Love all of these, thank you for the advice! I did get some 3M Extract from Taytools the other day, excited to put that "budget" option to work haha. No Woodcrafts around me and unfortunately the Rockler's also seem to be dropping like flies... But I do love going and learning more about the community, and visiting all the local lumber yards and suppliers. Just went to Street Tree Revival in Orange County for a live edge dining table project, and John over there knows so much and his enthusiasm is contagious! This community is so warm!
I really appreciated your storytelling. I think therapy is great probably an unpopular opinion on the old Internet, but Jesus has been a game changer for me in my life and I love incorporating that in my woodworking as well. Thanks for sharing. I was waiting to see your dad‘s reaction to receiving the guitar stand.😮
Thank you so much! I love telling stories and being able to share my experiences, never know what will impact someone in what way, it feels right to share just for the potential of positive impact. I'm building my mom a dining table, so I'll be sure to get her reaction for the video! My dad's response was "This is high-tech, I would've just put it together fast, but it's nice." HAHA.
Great video.
Thanks!
Great piece and great video. Watching this video really inspires me to color grade my own videos. The grading and the soundtrack and your VO made this video really pleasing to watch. New subscriber here! I look forward to your next video!
Thank you! Love all the little nuances in film and bringing that same energy to woodworking. On the specifics, I'm just shooting in Eterna on my Fuji X100V! Don't really do much post, just exposing correctly on camera! My favorite quote from a director I used to work with, "If it looks good, it is good."
Fantastic stand! As a bassist just now getting into woodworking, I’m 100% gonna rip this off and build it exactly like you did… but extremely poorly! 😂
Appreciate it! And PLEASE rip it, haha. I love being able to see what comes out of what I build, definitely want to see it! I'm sure it'll turn out great, haha.
@@by-aser much appreciated man :) Pray for me!!! Last project I attempted was a standalone garbage trashcan cabinet that was…. Well, garbage 😂
I have no idea why the algorithm showed me this, but I watched the whole thing. Great video.
❤😂
Hey, man, beautiful work you did there! I wish you good luck in your endeavours.
This was relaxing. You actually got me with the "sponsor" ad lol.
I try my best to make it like that, because those are the build videos I love watching. Next video I have coming up is my actual real first sponsored video, so hopefully I'm doing something right, haha!
Wow, what a great video. You have talent as a furniture maker and a filmmaker love to see plans. I’m going to email you if you don’t mind.
Thank you so much! This is a really fun journey I'm excited to be starting and really motivated to see where it goes. I'm a little backed up on emails, I need to send a bunch of people my "plans" for this, haha. Sorry!
Dude - sweet build and awesome video quality. I was shocked to see such good quality from a channel under 500 subscribers - I’ll be here when you hit 100k!
Thank you so much! Bringing a little of my experience from my long-term career into this new, next chapter of my life. Hoping 100k happens, heck, I'm hoping 1k happens soon lol!
Just stumbled on your channel and like the style of your videos and projects. Look forward to seeing more from you. - Chris
Glad to be stumbled upon, hope I can keep making more projects and videos you enjoy!
Nice design. Good luck with the custom furniture business...by all indications, you have the talent and skills. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, John! Ready to start on this new journey, really motivated and refreshed, and feeling very uplifted by all the positive comments here.
You have to put the most important thing in this short video, the best of your full video. A fragment from the beginning, a betrayal of the slightly more armed process and in the end, the result is not understood.
Love the video, the project itself since I’m a guitar player, but especially love the message of family an what’s important to you. Well done, I look forward to more of your videos.
Appreciate it a lot, I love being able to make these and just... speak from my soul? Haha, very cheesy, but it really helps get some thoughts out of my head and into the world.
