I think license theming in pinball has its place, but that's the thing: people would have to make that original theming from start to finish. There was an Archer custom board that I was looking at for a good bit, not knowing who even made it. Turns out that was Keith Elwin and that board was reskinned for the Iron Maiden Stern pinball machine. That's too cool, and it makes me wish even more that the Archer IP had its own pinball board

I live in such a dry area for pinball... No machines within an hour from me so I fell out of touch with it. Happened to stumble upon virtual pinball and it rekindled that love for it. I ended up building a fullsized vpin and have been enjoying all the original tables people have made!

I'm in total agreement with intellectual property always being the theme around a table. The same songs playing over and over again, the screens playing the same clips... it's annoying. The depth of new machines is great for tournaments, and online connectivity is cool but that's about it.

My problem with modern games is on the screens and using clips from the IP with the heavy reliance on "code" through its gimmick factors to use flippers for not flipping. Those elements goes beyond being a traditional pinball game. Whereas the creative work shines through more on a DMD screen and its programming. There is some IP bloat, not going to disagree with that, but I think you can still properly asses the game if you detract the IP from the game and treat it as more generic elements. You also have to understand that not every game is created equal. Anyways, awesome interview and hearing people's thoughts on pinball through running a pinball museum.

I was there. Disneyworld vacation in october 1994. Had a new Gamepro magazine from the airport shop on the plane, cover story was Sonic & Knuckles. They had a demo kiosk of S&K outside nick studios at universal, but only kids from a random drawing got to play. Later in the week we were at Epcot, and the sega station in innovations had a dozen copies, all just a board (no cart case) in a genesis behind glass. I remember they had virtua racing arcade cabinets and the Lion King game, too. Big statues at the desk of sonic and tails overhead, sonic & knuckles logo on the back wall. Great stuff.

I saw that MVG video about an hour or so after it premiered. I immediately suspected that the game's price was going to go nuclear so watching this made me laugh [as did the sight of the poepol listing for $200 in a frame]. I have no intention of buying this game because I already still have my copy that I bought all the way back in 2005. As everybody knows by now, there are various easier ways to play bootlegs on a PS1, but if you want to get Alien: Resurrection on a hard copy, you really should as the game is known to be difficult to run on emulator software and is also in itself a horror shooter masterpiece. The fact it is now confirmed to be a boot disc makes for an interesting trick which might come in handy as a last resort option.

The price for this is thankfully going back down. The Pal version has more or less stabilized at around 50 pounds/euros. Still more expensive before that video but at least it is still within reason and the american vers is around a 100 dollars less than the 250 dollar peak it reached back in dec.

they've done a good job for the most part of finding a way to get these games to run on x86 hardware, which is what the Xbox One is, same with Xbox Series. but they can do better, because there's still plenty of games that they can bring back. I'll list off some games, some of you might know, while others might not. 1 Sudeki Original Xbox 2 Fatal Frame Original Xbox 3 Fatal Frame 2 again Xbox 4 Dreamfall the Longest Journey Xbox 5 Riddick based on the Chronicles of Riddick and Pitchblack Xbox 6 Doom 3 Xbox, a remaster does exists, but i don't see the harm in including this. 7 Half Life 2 Xbox, while the PC version is better, this was not a bad port. 8 Jet Set Radio Future Xbox, it's a travesty how this game is not available. 9 Halo 1 & 2, i figured to include them, but the Master Chief collection is better. 10 Indigo Prophecy Xbox, again another game that should be. Now for some 360 games. 1 Record of Agarest War 360 do any of you know this jrpg series 2 Record Of Agarest War Zero 360 it's a real time strategy turn base jrpg 3 Eternal Sonata 360, there's no reason why this game doesn't exist. it was on the PS3 as well, but if that's the case just bring it back as a remaster for both. 4 Magna Carter 2 360, a great follow up sequel from the PS2 Original 5 Phantasy Star Universe & the Ambitions of the Illuminus. not to be confused with Phantasy Star Online, although it did have a Online mode, if you got the full complete bundle. but what im talking about is a full fledged story driven action rpg, which is what Universe is. Ambitions was the Online part of it, so you could sometimes find it as a bundle, but they were often sold as separate games, but it's all part of the same game. i prefer the single player campaign, because Phantasy Star Online is not free. now the fee isn't that much, but it's like the free to play concept. meaning you can quickly spend 100's of dollars before you know it, still Phantasy Star Universe atleast that game, that's the one I'd liked to see come back. 6 Sega Ultimate Genesis Collection, this was not the one they brought back. this had more. 8 Guitar Hero 3 this game might be available, but i don't believe so. 9 Midnight Club Dub Edition 360 as well as OG Xbox 10 Need For Speed Most Wanted, probably the best one of the series. there are way more games than i included, but that's cause i can't remember them all. thd point is, there is no excuse to not bring these games back and more.. if it's a licensing issue, Microsoft can easily pay for it, but the problem is gamepass. that's why alot of games still remain dormant, these publishers now a days don't want their games solely on gamepass. even with Panzer Dragoon, Sega had to sign off on it, meaning they had to approve it first. but it can also be an exclusivity issue, if that's the case, all Microsoft would have to do is, setup a meeting with Sony and the publisher and work out a deal. but see these companies would rather tiptoe around one another, than work together. now i get Fatal Frame was also on PS2, but it's not like Microsoft needs to hoard the games. just go to the publisher, Koe Techmo, and work something out. don't worry about exclusivity, most gamers don't care about that. if Fatal Frame 1 & 2 came back, you know it would come to Sony's hardware. And i would buy it, because everything that comes from a Japanese dev automatically goes to Playstation, but if all you have at the moment is an Xbox your out of luck. that might explain why those two games haven't come back, it's likely because Microsoft don't like to deal with 3rd parties. Sony is that way also, but that's the one thing i hate about the industry. exclusively becomes a rights issue, it's like we had this game first. who cares people know that it's on both, so it doesn't matter who had it first. so like i said they can do more there, but the Original Xbox is alot more tricky. a few of the games i listed would involve those. now we know it's not just Sony, but Koe Techmo was pretty picky when it comes to Fatal Frame also known as Project Zero elsewhere. Dreamfall, how weird is it that, you had the 3rd game of the series on Xbox One, and you somehow forget to include the game of Zoe's debut which is the sequel. so like i said, they've done a good job but they can do better.

I mean, if you already have a huge library of PS1 games, and you don't want to mod the physical console itself- Alien Resurrection's method is literally the only way to do it. All the other methods require console modding, or some kind of physical hack. I don't think the price will stay high, because people who want to mod that badly WILL use a different method- but I do predict because of this feature the game will never go back down to just $45. It might settle at around $70 to $100. Which is sad to me, because I think this game is actually pretty phenomenal, way ahead of its time, and one of the best shooters of its entire generation. It has so many neat little features, and lots of really fun levels. Shame to see it get prohibitively expensive.

The Only 360 games on the Series X that Work are the 360 games that work on the X Box one. Some need a Download to Work, but the Vast Majority don't Work !!! Half the Games are Sega Megadrive Games and PS1 Games so they are Not 360 games !!! So about 90% of the 360 games do not work !!! Half the Games are "Diddycar Racing" etc and 50 other bargain bin Games you have never heard of !!! But only about 10 of my 150 games work on my Series X. No RPGs apart from Oblivion and Skyrim !!! And I wanted Two Worlds one and two. so it's a Real Let Down !!! However, the Series X is a Fantastic Console, and I still have a Working X Box 360 which is the only way you can play old games !!!

Remember folks, Nintendo would "re-release" NES/SNES classics, if it wasn't for the fact that they have their online service. It would be counter intuitive for them cannibalize the value of their online service. Of course, not saying they wouldn't make a decent profit off of "Classic" mini systems, but the prices will be drastically different. Chips and manufacturing has gone up, even for R16 chips or even manufacturing them again. Nintendo would be better off with brand new hardware at this point, which would be a drain of resources for research and development. Not exactly worth it for a novelty item (mini console systems) usually found discount stores or a random rack at Target. Conflict of interest at this point. Not saying Nintendo won't ever go back to these types of products, but there isn't a reason to given that they have their own store front, an online subscription model and the Switch II on the horizon. Novelty items like Game & Watch systems with 1 or 3 titles will exist for sure, but don't expect another Classic Mini. Vintage cartridges will always be in demand, even as decoration. Lock-downs and crypto bros really over inflated a lot of game prices and other hobbies. What we've seen in the last 3 years wasn't sustainable, which we're starting to see a decline across the board. Combine that with the recession that we're in, inflation, and possible market crashes due to global war; I would definitely hold off on buying high asset vintage collectables this year.

I think that they need to start remaking some of these old titles instead of remastering recent games like the Last of Us. I think it’s clear that the PlayStation classic did increase the value of older games, so there was demand, but I think that the demand stems from a thirst for some of the classics that a remake would really suit better. I’m not a businessman though, so there must be a reason we continue to get these mini retro consoles outside of my understanding.
