Добавлен 24 июл 2022
With a vast array of interconnected topics, I will be posting frequently with new terrarium builds, new animal unboxing and housing, new and existing projects and updates of old ones. I also intend to include some animal care guides, and other connected topics and projects, from collecting wild moss, to cultivating terrarium plants.
Stay tuned, you never know what I'll post next :)

That’s so cool 😎 who knew superglue has so many uses . I don’t think mummy will be happy with a shorter stick 😄
Nope, she's not impressed lol got her a brand new one haha
@@themantisgarden Aww I thought you might ☺️
That was so interesting Simon I always wondered how they done it with there eggs
Thanks, mate :)
nice video, very helpful, perhaps I should try mating two easy mantises too when I have more time. With which mantises did you have the less problems during mating? Is there a species that gives you success almost every time?
I would always suggest cryptics or ghosts for the first attempt, Claus. Maybe even desiccata. I think I have a video of pairing cryptics on here so you can see how easy they are.
Can you make more videos about how to breed mantises? And also how can we tell if the mating has been successful
Yes! I do intend to do that soon.
She looks cute lol. Had a male lineola that passed a couple months ago. Loved him, they’re a great species
One of my absolute favourite mantis. Great character and we always have several roaming around the house :)
Letting my pets eat me is where I draw the line 🤣
Can't test the bite without taking it lol Just glad I don't keep crocodiles
What are they eating? Fish flakes?
Yes, mate
Isopod springtail and ant. Lovely. What isopod species?
Porcellionides pruinosus - Orange Dalmatian (The ant is a messor barborous and the springtail is just a temperate white lol)
my silly Leafhead mantis is indeed a picky eater!
Pain the rectum aren't they? If they didn't sell so well I would never have them in here lol
@@themantisgarden I agree! Would love a video on wide armed mantis, I find consistent information on them difficult to find
@@mybookishpromise Sadly, I don't have those this year. I "might" pick some up though for later in the year. There are numerous mantis with the common name "Wide armed mantis" so if you know the scientific name that would really help?
@@themantisgarden he is a Cilina Humeralis. I’m really enjoying your back log of videos and your breeding activities a great watch!
I paired some mantis tonight and thought about doing a video but couldn't be bothered because my wife got a new phone and won't shut up about it as she's trying to set it up lol
Yooo catching a springtail with a net and a whip had me In tears
Lol glad I could help haha
Amazing video old friend ^_^ True and true from someone that's had real hands on experience!
Cheers, mate. Thought it was time I made a video lol
can give them to mantis to eat?
No, lol I sell them.
whats he eating? Isopod?
Dubia cockroach
what wood were you using or it doesnt matter?
It doesn't appear to matter to be honest. It does depend where in the world you live though for sure.
Brilliant
Thank you, I hope it works for you as it does for me.
Do mantis eat isopod (rolly pollys)
I have to tons in my worm bin. They are super helpful to my worm babies 👍🏼😃🪱
Awesome little creatures
Great video! I especially enjoyed the music, which just happens to be the same piece I chose for my first mantis video!
Lol I can't remember what it was now but I'm sure I've used it several times since. Thank you. What's your channel so I can have a look at your mantis videos?
@@themantisgarden @mantishunt
Wasn't sure if you were still active; thanks for the quick reply!
@@themantisgarden Just realized original videos are on another channel: @Liam.2-xt7lc. They kind of suck, but it was a start; hopefully you think the new channel has a bit more value...
Yeah, still active but my shop is so busy now that I struggle to find time to make videos. I'll check that out when I get a minute, probably later tonight :)
i call em Roly Polys
America?
Not sure what kind of gentle waxworms you have there. I had a batch and was obligated to keep them in a glass tank with a metal screen top. They *chewed through* the sides of plastic tubs and plastic screen. They chewed through the lid of the cup I got them in overnight. That being said, I never had happier giant danio, anoles or house geckos than when I'd let them have a fat well-fed worm. One particularly cool thing I noticed was that they made their own heat as they nested in the bedding (I made artificial honeycomb with honey, bran and melted beeswax on crumpled wax paper). They were particularly difficult to separate out when they pupaed (you really left off how cobby and sticky their cocoons are and that they will somehow figure out how to put themselves right under the lid without exception, which is not a nice surprise)
Sounds like you had graboids lol!!!
So cute ☺️
They're not now I have to feed them lol
Hi , i'm trying to make a self-sustainable terrarium, aaand i needed springtails. I didn't try to look for them yet , but i hope I'll find them😊
All depends on where in the world you live really. No promises! In a temperate climate they're quite abundant.
Very interesting video, Greg! Have you ever drank Bailey’s from a shoe?
i found a praying mantis once in my garden and I was so excited. They are my favorite insect and they are so alien looking. They have this intelligence to them that makes them almost unbelievable to witness. Would love to keep some as pets someday, ❤😊
Do it!!! You're very lucky. We are one of the few places in the world that doesn't have wild mantis :(
What’s with all the coloured mantis enclosures? Congrats with the yellow zebras! looking good 😊
Had to have them, your favourite colour!!! Those are cards between the enclosures so the mantis can't see each other and get stressed :) Ran out of black card so I'm going all rainbow for pride lol
Hi Simon not into isopods but I don’t have anything against them
They're like Pokemon and I didn't have this one lol
You should do a update on your ants
I gave them to my wife! She still has them and I believe they're doing well. I'll have a look later :)
Good video tho Simon
Ta, keep being asked how to send them lol gets annoying after the 100th time haha
Thank You for advice ! 📯📮🚩
My pleasure!
Is that the mantis I gave you to give someone? He was fighting to go in with me lol...
Sadly, he passed last night Jackie. This is a giant Asian I'm using here.
@@themantisgarden nooo he was doing so good too. I still have the other one... I will check on him again after I pack up some hissers for people
I was old so wasn't expecting him to still be going anyway. He didn't die in an enclosure at least so there is that. Free as a bird on a stick.
Where do you buy your mantises from?
Hope you’re okay not heard from you for a while
Are you sure you didnt capture termites??? There is no clarity in the video.. its a blurr..they look like termites? Btw are the bots commenting here. They all sound same?
We don't have terminates in the UK lol so pretty sure!!!
cute little bugs, what are you doing with all of these?
I sell them, mate.
So darn sweet. Love this one.
They're a pain lol Cute though
Really good close up footage
Really cool Simon
wait are there springtails in Floridian soils?
I'm in England lol They're in good British soil haha You find springtails almost everywhere on Earth
🦌⁉️
Very apt lol
beautiful mantis :)
Thank you! 😊
Big girl 💪🏼
Just need a big ootheca next 😂
Would old (hole-less) panty hose work for "screen"? I need something STAT
Yes, lol. If panty hose are the same as tights are in the UK 😂
Horrid sting I’ve been stung in my own home in Australia twice it ended up a spreading rash that stings for 3-4 weeks
Oh, wow Natalie! I've been bitten lots of times by these. It does really hurt.
You took them out?
Of course, sun was out so only fair.
Can you please make a breeding guide for ghost mantises? I am soon going to get Ghost Mantis nymphs and I'm going to hopefully breed them, but I can't feel anything about breeding ghost mantises
That a good idea and excuse for a video! I have ghosts here but they're not quite ready for breeding. When they are I will be sure to either make a video or do a live stream. They're really easy to breed and not much to tell about them but I will try my best :)
@@themantisgarden also I meant to say find, not feel
Lmao, I didn't even notice
They are a lovely species
I have a few 100 of them here lol
Nice like in nature I’ve got to catch up I’m behind with 2 channels i hope you’re okay cheers Simon
I'm behind on everyone's channels! Been so busy or ill 😂
I love letting my mantises in the garden and letting them walk around some real foliage. Makes for some amazing shots too :)
Don't get the chance so often in England but yesterday the weather was good enough :) Thank you
I love how the colour of her eyes changed. 🙂
they look really nice with their shield. But it is one of yours that you bought somewhere--- I guess you wont find these species in England :)
It is a Rhombodera kirbyi from Timor, we have no wild mantis in England :(
😂😂😂
Veeery rare! 😂
I hate them lol
