I was finally able to ride the R211T train. It’s amazing to see a gangway train on the New York City subway system, even though they’re quite behind other advanced metro systems around the world.

Her winning was a mistake she was the first Miss USA not to make the semi finals in over 20 yrs for some reason Miss California represented America in the Miss World pageant I wonder if Tennessee declined that honor because at that time the first runner-up became Miss World USA and went to the Miss World pageant
In 1990 the first runner-up to Miss USA went to London and became Miss World Miss USA became the first runner-up to Miss Universe losing by one one hundredth of a percentage point talk about a competitive year!!!

@@taroupriapus9760 I saw Carol Gist interviewed on a talk show a few months after the pageant and this is what she stated she joked and said losing by one hundredth of a percentage point kept me up a few nights during the interview she also had some positive things to say about the winner

I was surprised too, I saw a video of how disappointed Kimberly was when she's not called in top 10. I thought she's top 10 material
To be honest, loved her final answer, and that is what made her win. The 90s were very fair in terms of deciding who wins based on the final answer alone. In my opinion too, she had the cutest face and was routing for her to win from the beginning. I was so happy that she won that night. I know she failed to make the cut at Miss Universe 1999, but I believe she could have easily replaced Ghana and India. Kimberly Pressler had the total package to be a top 10 semi-finalist at Miss Universe.
Right I agree, I thought she's easily top 10 in Miss universe. I wonder why Ghana was there in the list she's an eyesore like wow so many gorgeous girls didn't made it to top 10 but she did it

I remember the morning after NY won, one of those shock jock radio guys said "The new Miss USA looks, sounds like she's about 11 years old." I didn't think she was that bad, but I was convinced California would win. Tennessee was well spoken but looked too tall and lean in that unflattering gown.

Gosh stop bashing the winner! Yes she was unplaced at Miss Universe but I felt she was facially prettier than some of the ladies that won Miss USA! And TN and CA were pretty but lacked some personality compared to NY. That probably gave her the edge over the other two.
Kimberly winning was probably the most random thing ever. I feel she was just so regular in my opinion. Morgan was so gorgeous but I felt she lacked something, Angelique was very gorgeous but I dunno

I really didn't understand New York winning. I mean, she was scored second to the last at the press interviews. She barely made it to Top 5. She did fine at the Top 5 interviews however come Top 3, she stuttered answering the question. Even Julie and Ali mentioned after the Top 3 Q&A that she lost her composure but at the end she won? Tennessee or California should have won.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking TN should have won based on all the scores she received all night. NY did score very high during the Top 5 Q & A, so maybe that's where the judges really started liking NY more.

You do know that Miss Universe is a much more difficult competition than Miss USA, right? You're literally competing with the entire world. Also, many of the Miss USA winners that placed in Miss Universe, made it because of under the table deals - just look at Tara Connor, Miss USA 2006's situation. She only made it and went to top 5 because she was promised that spot if she wore that evening gown created on Project Runway.

After that the delegates to miss world are chosen by organizers, she can be anyone from the Miss USA contestants who has the best chance of winning miss world. Miss world is different from Miss universe the criteria and taste there is different, miss California is perfect mold for miss world standards
