Reminds me of Edd, one of my roundhead hens. She had eggs under her and was due to hatch off so I had to check and see if any of her eggs were hatching, she made one of my fingers bleed.

I decided to wear gloves because of a hen like this, so she started aiming her bites at the tender underside above my wrist. I put my gauntlet style welding gloves in the coop and she started launching off the nest into my face! My final solution other than putting her in a casserole was to rake her off the nest with a fishing net and hold her down as I collect her eggs. We renamed her. 'Gator' still has the most frequent broody cycles of any chicken, ever.

Pick her up with both hands, lol I have a couple of broodies and I pick them up off the nest they get frozen mad but I get the eggs and then pick them back up cuddle them close while stroking the back of their heads walk a couple steps away before putting them back down .

Yep, a lot of pecks can be avoided, if you take off the hen from the nest and place a bucket on her. I do this every time and it works.

Lol, you are way to hesitant when taking them, my blue laced orp tries to act like that and I just pet her head tell her she's a gremlin pancake and take the eggs... She know better then to peck when I'm not messing around. When I am messing around however she pecks like an attack chicken on Crack... She doesn't just peck no no she pecks holds and twists... She is real nasty like that... But when she is in my lap she just cuddles like nothing else exsists
