Love it!
Awesome! Some in-car camera shots would be great also!! So glad to see you posting a new video.
Super gefahren👍
Nice car Gunter. Stock engine?
Yes, a pure series engine
Hallo, wie konntet Ihr euch im Qual u.Rennen plazieren? Mfg Rainer
2. Platz im Rennen, nur 0,07 Sek. hinter dem 1.
If you want to see from the driver's view , hop in and buckle up!!! 😀😀😀🚘🚘 enjoy ruclips.net/video/B539I2B3LdE/видео.html
Ich bin stolz auf dich
How’s the 6-speed Audi transmission install coming.
Needs to cut loose with that vw...🤔 I mean that Porsche...😝...I mean that ea425..🤓...I mean that beauty of a 924....
its literally a 944
944s2 is a real Porsche
143 kph at 3:04 - the filming obviously doesn't show how fast this car really is! Günter, it would be really interesting if you made a video where you walk around the car and talk about what you have done to make it what it is, and what you do to prepare for an event. Great drive!
Great
One day i would visit Germany and Austria with my S2
Keep driving fast for ever :)
That was enjoyable; the videographers had good spots from which to catch the action. How did you finish? Also, where is this?
Hi Jockellis, the hill climb race is roughly in the middle of Germany, the place is called Hausen and is in the Rhön mountains. www.msc-rhoen.de/hauenstein-bergrennen/ My result wasn't that good, I had problems with the new 6-speed gearbox. We installed now a gearbox from an Audi B6 (A4 1.8 Turbo). It comes from the same series of gearboxes as the Porsche 968. With a few changes to the gearbox, it can be plugged into the 944. 🙂 Better gear grading for hill climb race. Fine adjustments were still necessary here after the race. In the meantime it works great.
Very interesting upgrade with the gearbox. When I was rebuilding my S2 i was searching for an upgrade for the gearbox but no luck. Can you give me just a little bit of more information about please? I will appreciate it. Thanks.
@@gunterhoor432 Second place with an ailing gearbox? Not too shabby. Congratulations!
People seem to forget that the 944 platform was tested at the crucible of Lemans after it's mundane beginnings. A properly tuned 944 is a track weapon. Think about this, out of a gigantic field of cars the 924 GTS race cars finished 12th overall at Lemans, not in their class, but overall against GT1, GT2, GT3, LMP, Prototypes! Astonishing. The 944 platform is criminally underated and that's now changing with their value beginning to rocket for well kept examples. About time! Respect!
Lovely car, sounds great 😊
What size wheels?
17-inch multi-piece OZ rims, 8.5x17 at the front and 9.5 (rain) and 10.0 (slick) x17 at the rear.
Nice! Rear wing + bumper help the look a lot
You were rocking and rolling out there today. New slicks? Keep up the good work.
The bad slicks were only in one year, since last year I have better ones again.
Nice driving :-) you keeping the reputation of these cars on a high level. I am proud owner of a Porsche 944 s2 that today i drive it on the top of the tallest mountain in my country.
Günter, do videographers station themselves around the course and sell competitors the segments they cover. These all appear to be long telephoto shots which make the car appear slow in the compressed scene. How did you do on this berg and what class do you compete in?
The photographers and filmers are very close to the route. In 2018 I actually drove very slowly, I still had old slicks on the car and they hardly had bad grip. I was 3 seconds lower per run than in 2017. 😞I always start in the regular class, in 2017 6th place out of 18.
@@gunterhoor432 Thanks. I would enjoy your videos even if I didn’t own a 944. It hasn’t run in six years because the water pump went south. I bought a new one at that time but the 70mm bolt wouldn’t tighten. The impeller wouldn’t turn recently when I went back to work on it so I bought a new one. The long bolt still wouldn’t lock in and I realized 70mm was really too short; I had to have a longer one. I couldn’t find one so asked a machinist at work if he could turn down a thicker one I had. He twisted around and pointed at the wall and said he’d cut me off a piece of the 6mm stainless steel rod that was leaning against the wall. So, if I can get that tapped tomorrow, I’ll be able to get the water pump back on and nearly ready to put it all back together. Hope I didn’t bore you too much with my story.

What rear bumper/valance is that?
Original 944 S2 or turbo

Straßenzulassung 🙂
I am feeling lucky that i have one.
Did rain come down during your run here or is this a compilation of the weekend’s runs? How did you place?
Hello Jockellis, this is a compilation of all runs from training to the race. In the second race there are only three cars ahead of me at the start, then there is a break of about 15 minutes because of an accident. Unfortunately, it then started to rain heavily. as a result, i no longer had a chance of placing at the front, since most of my class were still able to ride dry. I still came in 5th out of 14 participants.
@@gunterhoor432 Congratulations. What other makes of cars are in your class?
@@jockellis ruclips.net/video/JtxzAx7jEwo/видео.html All 7.. he start numbers, slow and fast Cars
Made me dizzy. But it was fun and I finally got to ride with you. I have a suggestion but about your video. Could you, during practice or any time you are going around a corner that requires going down multiple gears, set up the camera so that it focuses on your feet double clutching and heel and toeing or however you downshift. Then insert that in your video(s).
Nice car!
Boy, your courses are beautiful. How’d you do in this one?
2nd in class in this race, just 0.056s off 1st.
Klasse, weiter so...
You folks (Volks ?) have way prettier venues for hillclimbs than we do in the USA. Good job. Where did you finish?
In this race 3rd in my class with a time difference of 0.18 seconds in regularity. I'm driving in a special class, including in the context of the German Hill Climb Championships. Here we don't drive for the best time, but for so-called regularity. We have to be as accurate as possible in the next few runs, and without any clocks in the car! The best of us can do it to within tenths and hundredths of a second. You have to drive fast to hit it, but you don't need to use 100%, so 90 - 95% is enough. Everyone can win, whether it's just 50 hp or more than 300 hp. The smallest time difference from all runs decides, not the best time. In 2018 I was champion here. From 2015 to 2021 I drove 41 races, 13 times 1st, 6 times 2nd and 7 times 3rd. That's more than I expected after a 14-year break from driving.
@@gunterhoor432 I assume they don’t let you use your windshield wipers to time yourself?
#PorscheNoSubstitute944
Flott unterwegs ,fahre auch einen S2 , aber nur auf Strasse. Gefällt mir.
Good job! Does one set of tires last you for a weekend?
More more. I only do six to eight mountain races a year, so one set of super-soft slicks is enough for the whole season. The length of the routes is only between 1.6 km and 5 km. Training and racing only add up to around 150 to 180 km a year.
@@gunterhoor432 What brand of slicks? Do you have treaded tires for rainy day races?
On this video still sports road tires. But then Michelin Slicks S5B, a very soft compound, very good for climb hill races and also special rain tires from Michelin.
What motor and mods does this thing have 😯
Engine (215 ps), 5-speed gearbox with differential lock, final drive all standard! But reduced weight (1.150 kg) sports exhaust and racing suspension.

Great 👍
Beautiful car. Great driving. BBS look fantastic
What a great video showing in real time how a 944 can handle and hug turns. These cars a blast to drive and are perfectly balanced. These S2s pack a powerful punch 🤜

Good driving. Where is this, please?
The place is called stuben and is located in the alps in austria. It is located in the border triangle of Austria, Switzerland and Germany (near Lake Constance).
@@gunterhoor432 I envy European berg renners because your courses seem to be where you can have spectators. In the USA most courses seem to be on really rugged mountains that have virtually no spectator areas. There used to be one through a town but some people started complaining, saying they were being inconvenienced.
Another question: what tires are you on in the wet and do they need a different air pressure?
@@jockellis Also Michelin racetires for rain. I use the same air pressure for rain tires and slicks. When the tires are cold, between 26 - 28 psi depending on the length of the route, and then around 31 - 33 psi when they are warm.
Great!
Wonderful. I admire your car very much.
Love the 944! Amazing driving my friend.
I enjoy your videos, especially since I own a 944. Base with an M030 front sway bar. You might proactively halt the trolling by starting coverage with an onscreen telling of your finishing position. I’m slowly working on getting my 914, Rusty the project car, back from the dead and using it for hill climbs. Any chance of trading emails?
How’s your 914 restoration project going? Kind regards from Texas
@@micahhurst8986 Kind of slow but I finally got the voltage and wire speed correct weekend before last so that the puddle will lie down and now I can fill a couple of holes which will allow me to finish the front suspension.
Sehr tolles Video!
Is this naturally aspirated? I have a mk6 gti and I really want this car naturally aspirated or turbo idc!!!!
This is an original 944 S2 naturally aspirated engine, 4 cylinders, 16V, 2990 ccm, approx. 220 hp
Beatyful car, rotten driver ! it might be an idea, to take lessons, at trackdays !
After more than 100 victories, about 300 placements on the podium, I am glad that someone finally gave me a tip about completing a trackday. Even a 63 year old can still learn something :-)
Obviously, spidercup1, you know nothing about driving. This was a great job. But then I own a 944 so I know what it can do.
@@gunterhoor432 one can always learn ! ;-)
@@spidercup1 Maybe you should take your own advice.
I think the drivers fine. It’s just a really badly set up car.
