Eager to see videos at least a weak.
If this channel continues to grow, i will be able to post more frequently. My goal right now is every two weeks. If you have been finding value, please feel free to share this channel or videos. I appreciate your support ! 👍
Clear ...cool and simple. Great stuff @nextlevelpowerbireports.
Appreciate it! Thank you 👍
Thanks for all your videos. I have implemented some of the bookmarks shown here: One page, same visuals, two different table sources, bookmarks hide/show the visuals. As for the "Current Page", I was wondering if there was a way to change the visual of another page without focusing on that page. This helps on the following use case: Tooltip! When hovering over a visual, allow the user to select, before hovering, what information to display when they hover over a certain visual. It will probably be better to have those visual on the same page, but when real estate is limited, a tool tip with selectable visuals can do the trick, and this could be the answer.
Your're welcome 👍 And user selected Tooltips sounds like great example use case for having "Current Page" unchecked!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Just wanted to know if you are using updated version of POWERBI, as i see many fields are interchanged in my system, as a new learner to Powerbi, I find it Little difficult to navigate. It would be of Great help if you could use the updated version and have complete beginner to pro level training on powerbi.
Hello...this is the latest version. I'm guessing you have "On object Interaction" enabled. I do not like that feature so I choose to leave it unchecked. Note that is a Preview Feature and not the default.
@@nextlevelpowerbireports Thank you for clarifying! I checked, and you’re right-the On-object Interaction feature was enabled on my system, which caused the difference. After disabling it, my interface now matches yours perfectly. As a beginner, I found the On-object Interaction feature a bit confusing, but I’d be curious to know your thoughts on whether it’s worth exploring. Do you think it offers meaningful advantages for users? If not, I’m happy to continue learning with the standard setup you’re using. Thanks again for your guidance and detailed tutorial.
@@02muthukumar I personally don't like it. I think the default way is cleaner and faster. Like I teach in my course, simplicity is best. Specifically, I prefer all panes to right-hand side. To me it just makes the most sense. I don't know why other courses teach with this enabled. It's a preview feature, not default. Of course, this is just my personally opinion. Everyone is different.
If you are curious how I tweaked the Units Sold Visuals to Gross Sales, you can check out this 3min video here --> ruclips.net/video/FtKxFr_zn6Q/видео.html If you found this tutorial helpful, please feel free to like, share, and subscribe. Note if your settings don't match, it may be because you have "on object Interactions" on. I do not like that preview feature. I feel the default is cleaner and easier to use. To follow along, simply uncheck that features and restart Power BI. Thank you!
How to tweak in to gross sales view I didnt get ur point on it And u didnt meantion the name on gross sales after filtering right??
@@mhn_in after you duplicate the layer group, you simply adjust your two buttons, card, and two charts to be blue and have the measure gross sales in it. The button colors would flip, so units sold button now becomes gray and gross sales button becomes blue. ( in this example ). Here's the link to to seeing how I tweaked that duplicate group --> ruclips.net/video/FtKxFr_zn6Q/видео.html
sure, im intrested Iam waiting For ur update on it
@@mhn_in Here you go --> ruclips.net/video/FtKxFr_zn6Q/видео.html
great stuff, can you provide dataset to practice along
Thank you! I use a simple example in this video so you could follow the steps on your own dataset with any visuals. All you need to do is make the two buttons as well. Then follow the steps of duplicating the group etc. That being said, this exact dataset and example is provided in my "14 Daya to Mastering Power BI UX/UI Design " course if you want the exact dataset and to see the completed example uaed.
Bro Please make videos regularly , atleast once in a week, you have claered all my doubts on Bookmarks
I'm glad you found this helpfull ! 👍 If this channel grows large enough (need help from people like you sharing 😀 ), i can hopefully get to once a week. My goal right now is one every two weeks.
Hello. You're cool. Can i be your friend!? Banter aside, your work has a great eye for detail and I'm excited to try something this polished.
Glad you found this helpful! Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn if you'd like 👍
Superb bro tq u for great explanation.
Thank you and you're welcome 👍
I was lazy (and a little scared of complex bookmarks), so I duplicated the pages to navigate between them to make it look like a report page with a filter page over the top.
Well i hope this video was helpful! Most reports will not ever need the type of Bookmarking I'm showing at the end of this video. However it's great to understand these techniques so you can have more flexibility in your reports if and when needed.
Great explanation!! The MS naming for some of the bookmark options is shocking!
I know, seriously.. lol And thank you 👍
It's very clear thank you
Your are very welcome!
Data set link sir
Hello! I purposely used a simply example so you could practice these techniques with any data set. Simply create two measures such as sum of units sold and sum of gross sales. However, if you wanted use the exact dataset and/or see this exact report, feel free to check out my course at the link here --> courses.nextlevelreports.com/14-days-mastering-ux-ui-design-website-path
I’ve done a little bit with bookmarks, but my is blown with what you’ve shown. This is amazing. I’ve got the perfect report to use this with. Thank you.
Yeah, bookmarks are pretty powerful when you know how to use them. The key is staying organized. I'm glad this was helpful 👍
Is Putting so many visuals on a single page will degrade performance?
Hidden Visuals do not impact performance. They aren't processed until shown.
Which version are you using?❤ Nicest tutorial
@@Thelittleethanpaul the latest version. And thank you...glad it was helpful 😀
@nextlevelpowerbireports ok thankyou
This is the best tutorial I've found! 📚 I learned all the bookmark functionalities with clear examples. 🌟 Truly excellent! 👍
@@getsetgoo3334 very gald you found this helpful! Feel free to share 👍
perfect man !! thank you alot

How was the reporting period created?
Hello, The Reporting period is simply a Month Year field in the calendar table with a data type as "Date". You can change the format in Power BI (IE: 12/1/2024, Dec. 2024, etc.)
Great explanation to a complex concept. If we don’t have a completed month but want to compare the latest completed month to the prior month, how exactly is that taken into account in the DAX formula?
Hello! You would simply increase how far you want to go back by 1. IE: Variance Period MoM (-1) = VAR _LatestVisiblePeriod = MAX( DIM_Date[Reporting Period] ) VAR _MonthStart = CALCULATE( MIN( DIM_Date[Date] ), DIM_Date[Reporting Period] = _LatestVisiblePeriod ) VAR _PreviousCompletedMonth = CALCULATE( MAX( DIM_Date[Reporting Period]), REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DATESBETWEEN( DIM_Date[Date], EOMONTH( _MonthStart, -3 ) + 1, EOMONTH( _MonthStart, -2 ) ) ) VAR _LatestCompletedMonth = CALCULATE( MAX( DIM_Date[Reporting Period] ), REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DATESBETWEEN( DIM_Date[Date], EOMONTH( _MonthStart, -2 ) + 1, EOMONTH( _MonthStart, -1 ) ) ) VAR _Result = "MoM% | "&FORMAT( _LatestCompletedMonth,"mmm YY" ) &" vs "& FORMAT( _PreviousCompletedMonth,"mmm YY" ) RETURN _Result
Awesome!
Glad you liked it!
Do you have any course for DAX queries?
I do review the Variance measures in depth (link below). However, if you're looking for a general course, no, I don't. If there is a DAX concept you'd like me to cover though feel free to let me know. ruclips.net/video/B0KRfybXvh0/видео.html
Amazing!

The indepth instructions you provided are phenomenal. I'm bookmarking this in my favorites.
Glad you found it helpful! 👍
Great Video! I’d glad you to mention cases with partial month comparison. For ex: Today we are at 12/9/24 so the comparison should be 12/1-12/8 vs. 11/1-11/8 (and not in compare to whole November).
@alono2323 yep!..we'd just have to tweak a little bit. One approach I would say could be to capture the % of days that have elapsed within the latest available month in the dataset, and then multiply % by the previous month sales. There's many ways to write DAX code for time periods, but the below I believe would work: Gross Sales MoM% (% Elapsed) = VAR _LatestVisiblePeriod = MAX( DIM_Date[Reporting Period] ) VAR _CurrentMonthStart = CALCULATE( MIN( DIM_Date[Date] ), DIM_Date[Reporting Period] = _LatestVisiblePeriod ) VAR _CurrentMonthLatestDate = CALCULATE( MAX( DIM_Date[Date] ), DIM_Date[Reporting Period] = _LatestVisiblePeriod ) VAR DaysElapsedCurrentMonth = DATEDIFF( _CurrentMonthStart,_CurrentMonthLatestDate,DAY ) VAR EndofMonthDateForCurrentMonth = EOMONTH(_CurrentMonthStart,0) VAR DaysinCurrentMonth = DATEDIFF( _CurrentMonthStart,EndofMonthDateForCurrentMonth,DAY ) VAR ElapsedPercentageCurrentMonth = DIVIDE(DaysElapsedCurrentMonth,DaysinCurrentMonth,0) VAR _PreviousMonthSales= CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DATESBETWEEN( DIM_Date[Date], EOMONTH( _CurrentMonthStart, -2 ) + 1, EOMONTH( _CurrentMonthStart, -1 ) ) ) * ElapsedPercentageCurrentMonth VAR _CurrentMonthSales = CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DATESBETWEEN( DIM_Date[Date], EOMONTH( _CurrentMonthStart, -1 ) + 1, EOMONTH( _CurrentMonthStart, 0 ) ) ) VAR _Result = IF( _PreviousMonthSales > 0, (_CurrentMonthSales - _PreviousMonthSales ) / _PreviousMonthSales, BLANK() ) RETURN _Result
Will u maybe in the future record tutorial for doing this report end to end?
@@jelenadj7289 Hello! You can follow along and build this exact report from scratch in my course, (in the description of this video). However, I will be creating more general / free content on RUclips as well as long as this channel continues to grow and be supported.
Great method for both demonstrating and utilizing visual steps, thank you.💥💥

Superb explanation...
Thank you 😀
Hi! Thanks for the great videos you are creating! Is it possible to have one video explaining how to create a customized filter pane that can be displayed and hidden by the user to avoid to loose screen space?
Great suggestion!
Your animations combined with your description of what the DAX is doing (broken down into steps) is top notch. Multiple "thumbs up"!! Q: If I have a full featured date table with fields like year offset, month offset, month start, month end etc, do you think this would make the DAX simpler and faster?
Yes absolutely. If you already have offset fields in your data table, you can simply reference those fields (examples below) EXAMPLE 1 Gross Sales MoM% = VAR _CurrentMonthSales = CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DIM_Date[Month Offset] = 0 ) ) VAR _PreviousMonthSales = CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DIM_Date[Month Offset] = -1 ) ) etc.... EXAMPLE 2 = Gross Sales YoY% = VAR _Current12MonthSales = CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DIM_Date[Month Offset] <= 0 && DIM_Date[Month Offset] > -12 ) ) VAR _Previous12MonthSales= CALCULATE( [Gross Sales], REMOVEFILTERS( DIM_Date ), DIM_Date[Month Offset] <= -12 && DIM_Date[Month Offset] > -24 ) ) etc...
That's awsome! thanks
Glad you like it!
This is brilliant. Excellent explanation. Very enjoyable video. I’d love to see your version of the calculate function
Appreciate it! I'm glad you found it helpful,... I'll definitely consider adding a video on Calculate in the near future 👍
