USA Trains GP38-2. Curved track is on order. Speed and direction controlled by an LM298. LM298 controlled though GPIO and PWM outputs of an ESP32. 18V power from an old laptop power supply. Problem: 4A limit on LM298 is easy to exceed; not good for hills or cars.

I bought myself the train set for Christmas. The Purdue car came used (only dusty) from a local shop. SledEx car added. Container car is from Menard's. First time in O. Last car is the tanker due to frequent uncoupling.

I use a SuperDish 105, set to circular polarization mode, with a DBS stacked LNB from a SuperDish 121 to test rain fade. I am pointed to Echostar 16 at 61.5W. I could not find a standard DVB-S/S2 transponder on Nimiq 5 to lock to. The DBS stacked LNB was several MHz off frequency, so I used a spectrum analyzer to re-tune the LO screws inside the LNB. It vibrates apart easily, maybe a traditional chain lift will help. Pieces in hand, just need to assemble and test. I would like to add a holding brake to the top of the drop for extra thrills.

Damn I want to get into this hobby so bad someday. Enjoyed my first train set at 7yr old and still live nearby train tracks td. I was given a few n-scale cars and 2 locomotives that don't seem to run. G scale looks amazing though.

The spinning governor is from a difference in side gear speed. Once it's flyweights catch the pawl, this causes the cam on the left side gear to engage the friction clutches.

I have 3 of those vcrs and all lplay analog tapes like that. One of the units actually played it good when i bought it and then out of nowhwre it did that and never went back playing analog tapes again.

TBC and head preamp board has bad SMD capacitors which is what causes that.

How Safe is this? Does the step down module have built in protection so if it fails it will stop power to the pi? This seems like a much better and economic option to a pi hat
Hi BetaEngineer, the effect looks very uneven? Is it possible that the filter was dirty when you tested it out?
@@ShredBot Still looks uneven though. You should try making your own using a UV filter and Black gloss paint as the results are pretty good :)
The filter itself is uneven. Features description: "Uneven Surface Pattern Diffuses Light". I don't know how to describe the actual texture. Maybe clouds or bubble wrap.

I notice on the video that the bottom reflectors are lit up ( the ones on the bumpers ) I would love to know how you got them lit up.. is it something I can order? I want to lit them up too. notice on 0:17 It looks like they are stay on lights.
They are "double bulls eye" truck trailer marker lamps. They fit well, but I needed to drill one small hole for a screw through the bumper. The specific model that I used was MDB-R12 from SuperBrightLEDs.com. They are wired in with the parking lamps, so they will stay on all the time.

+Joseph Pierce 12 LED. O'reilly Auto parts a long time ago... Wired into the taillights. Screwed in using the same screws that hold the bumper in place. I no longer have that same setup because the light bar eventually broke and I upgraded to the 06+ LT bumper. Blowing fuses is a common problem for some people because of the way the board is wired. I used 3157-x18-T-CAR from superbrightleds and it features 2 full-wave bridge rectifier circuits (one for each brightness level) and I have never had a problem. (12VAC also listed on side) Compatible with standard and CK sockets. Great quality bulb too.

@JacobLovesSbDunks I removed the reflectors completely, then replaced them with LED "double bulls eye" marker lights. They are almost a perfect fit.
