Yes Richard baker
"I have you on my gadget" brings back memories. Driver (Airframe) 🙃
The year I joined!
What's RSPT?
The two ringer isn’t he a news reader
Richard Baker
@14:45 the monster in person , pity they didn't use real rounds.
How much has changed!!!. Our Navy is unrecognisable.
@iceman7975 Of course it's changed. It has to move with the times. Do you think we should patch Victory up and let her sail again?
I meant how much has changed reference the size of our Navy, including the RFA .
What's those collar badges on the Chief at 13:50?
How today’s politicians have weakened a Nation. And what for ? To tell a Nation “multiculturalism is our strength” and to sell off the brains of Britain to the highest bidder for self interest
Sea Slug a disaster of a missile system .
We have f35 aircraft operational now off aircraft carriers the best.
Nothing about the Iveston Mutiny
'Lootenant'?
Brills film from a time when we were still a formidable global Naval power.
Failed to show anything of the actual main piece of news for the Andrew for 1970, the end of nearly three hundred years of tradition i.e. The Daily Issue of Rum to The Royal Navy. I wonder why???????
We now have only 12 capital ships, frigates and destroyers, I believe. That's a coastal defense force not a blue sea navy. And we are an Island people. 14 days without food coming in and we starve.
No protective clothing. No precautions. 'Elf and Sifety' would have a fit...
Fond memories of SSBNUK01 (1st commission) - HMS/M Resolution to the unknowing! Training in the Polaris School in Faslane.
What days. When we had a proper Navy, powered ships and proper world-beating aircraft
And all home built.
Lt.Cdr 'Flying'. Or 'Little F' Uhhhh........ that LIttle EFFFFF !!!!!!! He makes me so angry...
when did prefix change on eagle from j to e
I think that's the Bob Holness on commemtary!?
Great times, Blackburn Buccaneer and Hawker Hunter aircraft with Ark Royal..
1.22 surely not a cigarette….? 😬
Certainly looked like it😂, different times eh?
Makes me wonder how many launch bridles the ship carried.
Fascinating. Thank you for showing it.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.👍🏻
When no females were allowed!👌🏻
The state of their civvie rig.
11:18 Elephant Island, of course, where Shackleton's crew landed, and waited for rescue.
15:17 there can't be many naval cadets who turn up for their first day with medals on their chest. What a brave boy!
I actually have this exact VHS, my grandad played it for us when i was at his.
Rare as hens teeth, has your grandad got any more in the series?
@@whitelinefever8769 I don't think so, but he's not gonna sell any even if he was offered millions, he finds it a personal gem to him. If you want proof I own a copy it's in my channel videos
Why do I fide the old docs better than the new ones
Very well put together piece of filming i thought.
different times eh? glad you enjoyed it.
the British invented the catapault
Like eagles big radar should had ark royal the same layout should have built 4 carriers with sea dart and cats 50 000 tons we wouldnt be like this today .
15:34 that’s more like it.
15:04 that’s pretty high for those buccaneers. I hope the pilots weren’t dizzy.
They'd get vertigo at 20 feet ASL!
Why Royal Navy reduce size of there ship & aircraft carrier?
Government cutbacks
Health care, it was pretty basic and cheap back then. Today people live longer but need loads of medical care plus pensions. They spend a lot more on other things today than they did back then.
Beautiful plane!... A Vulcan nearly crashed at an airshow near me during the opening of Rongotai Airport.! .. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
This one had developed a fault in the nose landing gear and this was it going home with landing gear down. This was the last airshow for the last flying vulcan.
Can I have a P please, Bob!! 🤣
Oh so sorry I have period pains today and need to stay in my Pit,, So sorry my friend I think I am pregnant and can not work today
Love this - the 'groovy dad' commentary and all... Thanks g or uploading. But - Are you sure this is 1966?
Glad you are enjoying all the old footage, the description on the box put the year at 1966 so I can only go with what it says.
What has Appollo 11 got to do with the Royal Navy? Oh... some of them watched it. 😂
14:47 Oh no!
How did they manage with no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
At 43 seconds into film it says, “Narrator,,,,, Robert Holness”. Is this a young Bob Holness from Blockbusters game show ?
it certainly is
They don't make them like they used to.
Can I have a P please Bob!!
A rare visit to the inside of a RN Submarine. A vignette from the 1960s with it's clipped voiced enthusiast commentary and quaint asides a much favored style of the time shown in the slot know as the "shorts" before the main feature began.
This is truly astonishing! Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed this wee bit of history.
Music and uniform feels like ww2.
