I would love to buy a wide beam. How much does it cost to run living on a wide beam canal boat. I would have a permanent mooring where I could park our cars etc. just have weekend trips or the odd week trips but have a permanent base. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks

What would be the “average price” or…say the median price of a wide beam boat and more importantly how do they compare in price to a flat of the same size. ( without considering that all manner of water crafts depreciate over time as opposed to the “appreciation” that real estate will produce over time.)

I'd like to know if you people are allergic when it comes to discussing technical things. Apart from saying where the engine is, not one word spoken about what the engine is, amount of fuel, batteries etc, etc,. If you cannot discuss those things, you shouldn't be doing it,

Hello from Florida. Love your videos and all your beautiful scenery Sharc. I know you mentioned that when you’re traveling the boat all the nice views you get to see in the nature. I know from my experience when I’m traveling the roads in my truck I really don’t see the nature in the scenery. But when I got my horse and buggy out and I’m traveling the roads, I see so much more nature in the scenery because you’re going so slow you get a chance to see it we’re in the vehicle you don’t really see any of it. Anyway, love your videos keep up the good work someday I hope to get over there and be able to take a Holiday boat

I have a CRT licence for my boat, i use their facilities, water and sewage, this is not mains, i dont pay the Water Companies direct. I dont know know anyone who makes their own diesel, or lives on their own solar power without also using things like cars, buses, trains, planes, bicycles etc

I live on a narrowboat, I don't buy utilities like mains water and electric, but I think I am off grid for that reason. Only a hermit in a cave with a fishing spear made of sharpened wood loves try off grid.

I don't want to be a wee blanket, but I've wasted two minutes of my life on this, wait till you have something interesting to mention.

I enjoyed the commentary which frequently touched on the realities of river boating life. Making this nomadic lifestyle work requires skill in envisioning how things could be, in practical and creative ways. Best wishes!

Although I doubt if I will ever be in the position to be able to buy a narrowboat, after watching countless videos, I know that I would like one with at least one side hatch, a roof hatch in the galley area, a small freezer tucked away somewhere - and either a pump-out or compost toilet! We have a caravan and I get fed up with emptying the cassette, even when it isn't used for anything 'smelly'... 👃

If your in a marina and staying put then a wide beam wins hands down it’s like a luxury flat although a bit better quality than these two

Mmmm i beg to differ….. Your not off grid … Moorings have electric Hookups that you use for electricity. Thats not off grid, You use Diesel and Oil for your engine also thats Not off grid, You use Water points to fill up your water Tank from a Council Tap run Water board thats Not off grid, being off Grid is being Self sufficient, You collect your own Rain water or Well Water, You make your own Power with solar or Waterwheel to generate power, You do not rely on oil or Gas . You grow your own Food etc. Also Mooring fees are your Costs instead of a Mortgage. So no your definitely not off grid,

widebeam prices have really shot up in the last 2 years, much more so than narrowboats i've noticed.

The wide beam boats interior looks cheap and terrible, if im spending good coin on a boat i wouldnt want weathered wood...cheap, cheap, cheap. The narrow boat beats its hands down.
