Tooliom TL-250M Welder Review
This is a great welder. I enjoyed reviewing it. I bought the welder to replace a Lincoln wire feed welder I’ve had for over 20 years.

Thank you for watching. Please like and comment below. Let me know if you have any video suggestions.
Is your welding table plywood covered with steel? 😂
Awesome video appreciate all the tips
Was the welder running off 120 all during this test?
Sirve para soldar aluminio
this is great! I found this really helpful. Thanks!
I appreciate your comment. I’m getting back into making videos and hoping to post more soon.
I also like welding when I'm high.
Ok now I feel like an idiot. Basic stuff I should have learned before I took a job as a fabricator.
Do yourself a favor and set up and clamp a straight edge at the end of your table to butt your long tubes up against and set your cross member along... second... stop using your square where the seam of your tube is, that seam was welded and thus distorted by heat, if you set something flat on that seam you will notice it rocks because it's not flat... honestly, I only use a square to get things close enough and still tweak it afterward with Pythagoras a²+b²=c² (you can even use this to check the accuracy of any square) and lastly when you put your legs on, clamp them down using flushing plates and you will find it much easier to square them up, again using Pythagoras since A-you are using the seam side of the tube, which is far from flat And B- it is far more accurate Any time you are using Pythagoras, you can easily measure out a reference point to measure to... this is handy on very large frames, or when you can't get a tape on the corners since you clamped it to your table
Thanks for this. I wish you would have recorded the whole build
Looks like it’s been a year since you commented but I appreciate your feedback and going to be posting more videos.
Are they metal irwin quick clamps? Rare as fk
Came from harbor freight. 😅but they work great!
As they say welding is 90% prep. They aint bloody wrong ol son
You’re right about that. Taking to Prep is key.
Line up those seams. Make it look uniform
Solid video
Thank you!
Hello👋🙋♂️ there Amazing and very interesting video🎥 as always Good information and very helpful Do keep posting Warm regards and best👍💯 wishes The UnknownManCub 👍😎👨🏭
Really enjoyed the video also subscribed what is the usual size of a Welding Table might be a stupid question I know
I am sorry I didn’t mean to ignore your comment. I’m just getting back into making videos on RUclips normal welding table is really any size that you need but a good thick plate and being flat is most important.
Magnetic corner squares aren't always that good huh
They are terrible. Any particles can throw them off and they don't hold true more than a few inches. For a good fit, I find it better to measure half ways down the tubes using Pythagorean theorem.
Thank you shearing video sir
I realise they send me TIG welding wrong TIG than they show in box Amico & Home Depot you are really making us sick and wearing out please send right staff . 2 wice in raw they send wrong one Yes I did shoot open box video recording. Waited 3 to 4 weeks and they send crappire TIG welding with used stick welding gun as new it really wear us out & made us sick about month of waite 2nd time in raw they send diffarent malfuntion one. They put negative electrode side Red lable Amico please cantact me how to fix this I paid for new wice you guys send us mulfunction wrong collar lable & cheepy TIG welding gun than you advatise on box and internet. What is going on help please.
Amico send me 2 time broken CTS 160 though Home Depot online shopping They put used stick welding gun as new too 2 wice. Amico please stop cheating on people and please send me new working one to Wichita Kansas Home Depot Store please. Still waiting for new working item I paid for 3rd time.
Just received my Amico CTS 160 . Like yourself, I bought it for the plasma cutter. Stick works great. Haven't tried the TIG yet but all signs are pointing to a decent machine for the price point. Thanks for doing the review. It did sway my decision.
I can have 3 corners at 90deg and 4th one won't be 90deg.
Yeah. How much will that be off if a member is only .02 to a thirty second off? If the leg is 5 or six feet, Does the work require the ultra clean municipal look, or athstetic design, use designing elements that hide defects, like standout fill weilds.
Great video man
Thank you for the great tips .Have u done any more videos?
Thank you for your comment. I am just getting back into making videos to help people out. I am hoping to make new videos soon.
Initial picture, travel is too slow
Your line voltage is probably lower than 120. Household power usually runs between 110-120 which is why you see it referred to as 110, 115, or 120. If your voltage is lower than 120, say 114, your welder’s output will be reduced a corresponding amount.
So the 3in1's aren't non-touch plasma torch?
Nice video I like this machine and good to know about compressor Size I was thinking big guy compressor 60 gallons weld look good
Great tips!
Al with DC, lol
Tig using helium gas, lol
I heard you say something about aluminum. Will it not weld aluminum properly?
He’s referring to Heli-arc welding, or TIG Welding using Helium as a shielding gas. Heli-arc works best on thicker aluminum. It was used before Hi-Frequency machines were developed. As he stated it is DC only, and the preferred method to TIG weld aluminum is Hi-Frequency AC.
Great review, I'll be getting this welder.
Killer review - plan to buy one mainly for the plasma. Having the stick & TIG options will be a learning experience, so that’ll be fun.
Do you still have it? Did it survive?
It did survive. 5 years later. I did just sell it to upgrade.
A bit more info of how connecting the welder to the compresor and settings...
Thanks for the review! I have looked into this welder a bit and I’m thinking of ordering one, I asked the seller on Amazon if it’s High frequency for the TIG start and the seller got back to me saying it’s scratch start, I have found mixed info about this? Some people say scratch and some say HF? I see you posted this video a year ago, How’s it been holding up for you? Thanks again for posting 👍
Mike festiva I’m going to grab one after watching both of your reviews.
it is HF start
Welder holding up great, I know it’s been years since the comment. I got away from the RUclips channel but getting back into it.
Does it have any pulse options for fusion welding
Thanks very helpfull
Great! We subscribe.
Does it come with a foot pedal to contol amperage while TIG welding? Or does it have a place to plug in a foot pedal?
Although it doesn’t come with a foot pedal and a don’t see a place to plug it in. I think you could buy the foot pedal that fits the Norstar 200 amp stick/tig welder it would work.
You said that one can weld aluminum if they use helium, which rods should one use? aluminum rods??? I am new to welding & I was looking at welders online, I typed in "stick welder" & up popped up the Amico 160-200, saw the one u did a video on & several others, I am unsure what I am going to do because, It seams that with every video I have seen minus yours, everyone replaced the cables. I am wondering if it would be best to buy an amico & replace the leads, or just buy a better welder???
D.j. B , When you weld aluminum with dc tug 4043 aluminum tig rod will work. Keep in mind ac is the preferable polarity for welding aluminum. Which this machine is not capable of. The leads seemed fine to me. I’m personally impressed with this machine, especially for the price.
Nice review....now to mount the plasma to a cnc...
i dont think it will work because it is a high frequency cutter.
It is only $399 at Home Depot , Do you think it will last ?
I can’t say about the dependability. It’s not a commercial welder. But from what I’ve personally experienced with this machine I feel like it will last for years to come. I’ll tell you one thing I’m amazed on the steady arc it has when welding with stick and tig and at 200 amps on 220V there’s nothing you can’t weld. The plasma feature to me is a bonus.
JR i have a question regarding the TIG start. I see you said it's not scratch start and it looks like you started "HF" , but when i call the manufacturer they told me it was scratch start. Can you verify it is "HF". The tungsten never touches the work? Thank you
It is not scratch start. At least the one I have isn’t, lol. Maybe the manufacturer was thinking of a different model.
it sure did a good job cutting the plate.
William Ramos , yeah I thought it did. Especially for a compact machine like this one.
How thick of mild steel can the cts160 tig /stick on 220 should be good under 1/2 I would think I didn't realize it was hf start
I haven’t had a chance to run it on 220 yet but @ 30 amps I think it might have a severance cut @ 1/2” thick MS plate.
What about tig stick thickness 1/4
Greg G depends on joint setup you can easily do 1/4” in one pass on 110v with tig or stick. I can’t say the max thickness because I didn’t do the R&D the machine.
Hello. Would it be overkill just to trim jeep fenders for big tires? Should I just stick to an angle grinder? Good, quick to the point video.
Although I’m a big fan to use a grinder with a cut off wheel to use on certain things. I think it wouldn’t be overkill to use this plasma to trim fenders. But if that’s “all” you need it for I think a grinder and cut off wheel would work just fine.
Good info. I did a video on mine too. Love it.
I would like to know how well it performs with genuine 6010 rods. What is the Open Circuit Voltage, should be on the spec sticker if you can figure out which Uo symbol corresponds to stick mode? Acceptable 6010 performance generally interferes with the TIG function on cheaper DC inverters, so it's the real SMAW test.
Amico claims several of it's machines are fine with 6010. Most of the inverters don't just have trouble with 6010, it is all cellulosic flux electrodes, which includes 6011.
I think open load voltage is 73v
