Vlog 19 "Vintage Beauty on Wheels: My Wife's Classic Motorcycle Adventure Begins!" 1990 Honda CG 125
So, the Mrs has just gone and bought herself her very first geared motorcycle, she has ridden scooters for the last 16 odd years, but I have managed to convince her to get a geared motorcycle.
She had to redo her CBT as they stopped keeping records after 2010, my wife did hers in 2008 and couldn't find the certificate, so I paid for her to redo it so she is able to take her light motorcycle licence, £153 now, DAMN!! I remember when I did it in 2000 only costing £66.
Anyway she has completed this, and is now able to go and take her full licence.
She bought herself an immaculate little Honda CG125 1990, the bike is a beautiful little machine, here is to her future adventures on her new journey...

I did the entire Bridgestone trail in 2024, a repeat from 2023, this time I had Mitas 50/50 tyres, changed from my Metzeler Karoo 3s, I can tell you now, that was a mistake, I much preferred the previous tyres, with these I had little feeling from the front and they were not flinging the mud as easily as the karoos I had on the bike last time. Jersey States Police | Illegal manoeuvre | roundabout wrong way
I ride a 750GS and enjoy your videos, but there's a reason why you are supposed to pull over as soon as you are aware of an emergency vehicle. At least in my country that's the law. Prevents stuff like this from happening.
@SLG1911 similar here, but as you can see, we were all pulling to the side and looking behind us, emergency vehicles are still required to follow the law here, going around a roundabout the wrong is a big no, even going through a red light, they are to be aware that they are taking a huge risk, and any accidents are on them. There was no reason to cut this roundabout the way they did, they didn't save any time at all, and it was a big risk.
cgs a beauty. Had one back in the day .Hold on to that classic. Millions of couriers cant be wrong
@bilco1010 she runs beautifully, such a nice little motorcycle 🏍 the wife is very happy with her purchase, this will hold it's value, as they are becoming sought after in this condition, the bike is Immaculate
Very nice!!!. By the way, does the inclinometer work in real-time, and DTC and Brake levels?
yep, all works well, and records on the bmw app as well
Did they check your passport in jersey or straight on ?
@macgore8338 they only check French side, very rare for Jersey customs to stop us, last trip I had mine checked coming back, but they thought I was someone else and police were waiting, lol 😆 was waved through after the passport check
Can confirm this, thank God on my BMW it doesn’t blow the fuse but shuts down the outlet electronically, but it’s still a total waste of money. And I don’t like running cables from my battery at all, especially since I already have an SAE connector hooked up to it for the compressor and stuff.
@TakeTheHighground I run my heated clothing now directly from the battery, luckily on my dash it shows the current etc, so I know if the battery is bad or too much is being drawn, heated clothing for winter riding though 😁🥵 toasty
Dude, its not the biggest ! the Millau Viaduct was designed and built by an Englishman, in the south of France it's a kilometre from the deck to the ground !! But I'd I'm honest it's only Impressive from a distance as going over it you get no sense of the height ad it's a flat bridge !!

I’m going to look at getting the suspension fitted onto my GSM 750 as well great video thank you for sharing
Good afternoon what’s the contact details for the place you got your modifications done for your springs? I’d really appreciate it. If you could forward that information to me great video. I do enjoy watching the ones you have done. I’ve got a GS750 and I do agree with your comments about the front suspension.
@@adriandunn4411 I had mine done here in Jersey at the Mansell Collection dealership, I believe any dealership in the UK that can get their hands on the hyperpro or Touratech springs would be able to do the same for you
Sorry but I didn't enjoy that video, watching the rider was like watching a nodding donkey
totally get it, the camera on my helmet malfunctioned and that was the only footage I had for the greenlaning, better than nothing though, it was a good run on the lanes, shame about the other footage from my helmet camera, as it would have been a lot better from that point of view.
👌 thanks, for sharing. Going on aroad trip and I never set this. I will from now on. Much appreciated. Ride safe. I'm going to BMW Motorrad North American Rally next month in Alabama.🎉really great BMW is returning to America again.
@@davidherringgo setting the suspension in road and dynamic make a big difference when loaded with gear, enjoy your trip and safe riding
Well done a fantastic video thank you I have got a GS 750 I will have a look at doing some of the same things on my GS ⭐️👏👏👏
Hi, what could you tell me about this jacket after all this time of use? do you recommend it?
@gmant123 definitely recommend it, after years of abuse and a wash from the last winter, still a quality waterproof jacket, good for the summer with the air vents front and rear. Great bit of kit
Are you still pleased with the VMX wheels?
@marcclothier605 yes, the bike is off roaded a lot, I can categorically tell you that, if I still had the caste wheels on the bike, they would be bent of cracked with the abuse I have given this bike over the last 3 years
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider Thanks
Why don’t you add the ‘m’ sport start up?
Hi. How big the pockets are on the pants?
They are big, they'll fit a mobile and wallet with no issues
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider Thank you. With mobile phones as big as they are today, the space is important :). Did it feel comfortable wearing it while riding with pockets stuffed?
@@bluespl yes, I have a S23 ultra plus, large phone, both pockets are waterproof, with waterproof zippers as well, too hot for summer, but perfect for winter riding
The spoked wheels are the go. How do you find the front shocks off road?
Handles well, no more heavy diving on the front, a good feel on the back when standing on the pegs and leaning forward, the upgrade on the front forks is definitely worth the £100
I struggle with the weight and thinking of a tuareg 660. I like your set up
@zoltszolts5632 test rode the Tuareg, it's a nice alternative but is more top heavy than the 750gs, test ride them back to back, you'll have an idea then to which you prefer
@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider wow more top heavy. I thought the 750 was bad enough. 20kg different I thought would be more like my 390 ADV. I found the 900 rally pro feels low weight
Promo-SM
Get the same thing when I put my heated jacket on. 🙈
Yeesh. I've not had this with my heated clothing luckily, but guess I will be moving the quadlock charger to the other side of the handlebars
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider I just ignore it now.😁just like the sos button warning thing saying there's a problem see a dealer. Getting its year 2 service next month so they can sort it.
@gsd32i yeah the sos comes up when we hit a black spot, quite a few around the island, I ride through two of them every day
Hi mate. Thank you for the video, nice explanation. I've got one question though. Can this be used to activate driving modes? Mine came with only road and rain modes. It would be nice to do it myself.
I think that is more of a programming on the ECU, mine came with Enduro and Dynamic as a package, I don't think the GS911 has this capability yet, but might be something unlockable in the future. What bike is yours? Check with your dealership and find out if it is something that can be unlocked on the ecu, if it can be then I'm sure in the future that Hex Innovate will produce an update to unlock these riding modes. I'd love to get Dynamic pro and enduro pro, but think those I specific to the bigger bikes, but again it might be something in the future that becomes available for all of us, during the video it showed that satnav prep was enabled, but for all those it isn't it is so simple to enable with this device.
Thanks for the vid, one question though, is there also a coding option to enable the indicator lights to be on all the time (cruising lights) like on the 1250/1300s?
Hmm 🤔 not sure about that, I didn't see an option in there for this, but the Hex GS911 and the software are updated often, so it may become accessible in the future. We do have the option though to run the warning ⚠️ lights, but they flash.
I see your phone is connected to the bike so I'm assuming your headset as well. Do you have any problems with connection dropping and audio quality.
@@gojolumoI also have my phone and Sena headset connected to the bike, got no issues what so ever, only the initial connection always takes a bit long, but when connected its all good.
@gojolumo nope used both my Cardo Slim and my Edge with my Samsung S23 ultra+, never get it dropping in or out, sometimes if I'm more than a few metres from the bike the sound will break a little, but when on the bike all is great 👍
plenty of additional extras on that bike looks good though
Just a few 😆
Nice 👍
Congrats on your diagnosis. Strange isn't it to congratulate someone over such a thing. I've recently had a test done and he wants to talk to other doctors and health workers who have had dealings with me in the past then he will bring me in for another test.
All the best 👍 to know yourself is great, better understanding from the world we live in is what is important for us
Great info mate looking to go for one off these bikes, also knowing it will need upgrades, watching this video has giving me a great help with ideas and prices cant thank you enough cheers matey
not sure if it is my laptop or the video but it looks very pixelated unfortunately in the dark areas, which normally is not in my videos, all I can say is sorry for this and I will do better next time, thanks for watching.
Any chance of the kriega backpack review? Thinking of getting one but not sure if the R30 would be too big.
I have owned my kriega r30 now for 12 years, still waterproof and like new on the outside, it has now covered over 50k miles roughly, always have it on the bike on trips as it is extremely comfortable on the bike and off. Loved this kriega bag so much I then bought myself the r15 and the 40ltr rollpack from them, lifetime warranty and kriega always happy to help if something is wrong with their kit
The worst thing when riding in cold temperatures is if you get some "leaking" so that cold air comes in under the clothes. As long as I keep my neck warm and cosy I’m pleased .
yes, fleece lined polartec buff for the winter to reduce the cold air inside my jacket, helps loads in the winter
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider I have like a collar in some soft shell material. I use it together with a buff up to maybe 17c after that I only ware a buff. I’m fine to freeze a little on shorter stretches like half an hour or so, but if my neck and shoulders get cold I starts to lift up my shoulders and then I get really tensioned in my neck and I starts to get headaches and it can stays for days 🤔
@JoonesAdventuresMC polar buff are great, the fleece sits under the jacket and collar, and then you can pull the buff up and over like a ski mask under your lid, keeps your neck, chin and nose warm from the cold 🥶 😀
Hello, mate! Did you eventually sort out that problem with the Macna heated clothing? I've got a Macna heated jacket on the way... hopefully it will work properly...
Buy yourself the cable that goes directly to the battery if you are going to run it off the bike, the DIN socket is only 5amps and will blow with anything more than a mobile phone running off it
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider It's on its way, thankfully 😊thank uou
Hello.. cold weather... We are 20 in south Spain 😊😊
Back in double figures here, was 12c today
Just come across you chanel after buying a F750 gs sport last week. Like the mods on your bike 👍🏻
Thanks, handles beautifully on road and off now. Have just added spots to the bike now, video will be out in the next couple of weeks. Made a difference when riding at night
I just bought a new 750 as well. I’m kinda torn about putting the bulky crash bars on, although I don’t mind the looks of the sw moteach, but I was wondering if I could get away with just using sliders instead of bars?
It would really depend on the terrain and road conditions, without the bars your engine may very well take some impact, mine has been dropped a lot offroad, and no damage to the bike thanks to the guards and barkbusters. I now have Wunderlich sliders on the engine for extra comfort as I like to push mine on certain terrain.
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider ok thanks
If it’s going to snow I would prefer the car 🤔
Once in a blue moon here luckily, so might as well go out on the bikes when it does. Still more enjoyable than being stuck in a car behind others who can't drive in any sort of road conditions
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider 😂 True
Are they MACNA Evolve gloves you are wearing, if so are they powered from the bike?
no the gloves are powered from the jacket they plug in to, the jacket is plugged in to the bike
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRiderare the gloves the Macna Evolve, I watched your earlier videos on the CANbus set up blowing the fuse. I also have the Heated Centre Jacket paired with MACNA ERA RTX, which are all nice and toasty, but also fancy the Evolve gloves as they look a little lighter for spring wear. Been enjoying your vids, keep them coming
nice ride 🤩 We had -18 degrees yesterday and even colder the days before. today it’s -11 degrees and extremely slippery roads right now 🤔
Very rarely does it get that cold here
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider I understand that. It’s both further south but also surrounded by water. The gulf stream makes a big impact on the climate. It’s mostly warmer and moistier at the costs and colder and dryer air longer from the cost
I have never tested heated gear but they starts to get more common up here. Some people even use them in the summer. It’s hard to tell how cold it is by looking at the video. I don’t know if you’re using celsius or fahrenheit degrees, but 12 fahrenheit is pretty cold 🥶 The coldest I had on my trip in Norway summer 2022 was 1 degrees celsius it’s about 33.8 degrees fahrenheit.Luckily it was for a short time in the morning. 😅
Celsius here, it was cold. Yeah I love using my heated gear on very cold days, so comfortable to ride, and no extremities feeling cold, only the nose when the visor is up. Makes a massive difference when riding in the winter, I remember being based in Faslane and use to hate the long ride down south to Portsmouth to get the boat home on leave, as I always wanted my motorcycle when home. But the journey down around December and January depending what watch I was, layering up was unbearable, because if you got cold when fully layered, then that was it, you couldn't get warm, with heated gear no issues with staying warm. It is fantastic for winter.
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider It’s mostly more moisture and windy in costal areas that’s makes it chillier. Also the length you stay outside is important. A couple of minutes or a couple of hours. I also always ride with long johns and long sleeved sweaters even in the summer 🤩
So you drive a Grand Vitara. I had a Grand Vitara XL7 for a couple of years. Really nice car but a little thirsty.
Yep, she's from 1998 with 100k miles on the clock, needs a new radiator, left hand steering rod and the rear brakes are on their way out, had her for nearly 10 years now and bought her for £800, think this will be her last year before being retired to the scrap, service her every year, but the new parts for her isn't worth it, as other parts will start to fail. She does really well for fuel economy over here though. Mainly used for getting on and off the farm and down the beach when I kayak. She has done me very well this last decade.
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider Those are really good light off-roaders. I also hade a Volkswagen Taro, the same as Toyota Hilux. That one I took on a slightly harder off-road than the XL7 that only had to taste some snow. The Taro got some dents in the thresholds I changed the thresholds to squared 100x100mm steal pipe and added 4mm aluminium plate under the fuel tank and engine, but then the rust took the fuel tank and the brake lines so I sold it. 🤔 Really nice to have in the winter though. ruclips.net/video/449zp8EEuJc/видео.htmlsi=eCxiGVZTHHv8BTLs
@JoonesAdventuresMC that's what is happening to mine now, rust is taking the brake cylinders, so just going to scrap it after I've run it into the ground this year. Problem with the ethanol in the fuel, rusts old tanks, wasn't that long ago I had to strip the GSXR and clean the tank and relign it to protect it from today's fuel. Lost some injectors and a fuel pump because of the rust, the GSXR is now 23 years old and now considered a classic bike 🏍
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider The rust is what killing most vehicles around here as well. Mostly from outside of course with all salt on the winter roads 🤔
How do you like the Revit Scram?? knee armor I was thinking of getting them
Very secure and comfortable under my trousers, they don't move when standing which is good, no sliding up and down the leg, they are breathable in the warmer months, used them on the TET and at the ABR festival on the trails, gave me a lot of confidence when greenlaning
Her in Norway we have -19 c today and a meter of snow. My 750 GS is parked every season from mid october til end of march so its nice to sit here on youtube and watch other more fortunate riders. Ride safe and keep making more videos.🙂
Yes, I can imagine it over there, I have friends and family in Canada, and their winters are no joke. Today, we finally dropped in the singles 😅 9c next week it might actually get down to 0c.
I wouldn’t either say that TET is off-road at least not here in Sweden and Norway. There’s some parts that’s a little more tricky than other especially if it’s a rainy summer. 99 percent is ordinary gravel roads or even tarmac and even if the 750 isn’t an enduro machine it definitely should be allowed to be ridden on a gravel road and still be covered by the guarantee. 🤔
Agreed, the TET is classed as the public highways and governed by normal traffic laws, but I wasn't paying £80 labour for a £14.95 rear brake switch, still haven't gotten around to fitting it though. You would think though, anything with GS in the name, should on road off road, as that what GS implies in German 😁
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider Well the Germans even call them G63 AMG a geländewagen. I would say that a 750 is more of an gS and the 850 is more of an GS, with a capital G. But the 850 isn’t near as capable as the KTM 890 Adventure R. Neither of them are enduro bikes though🤔. Off-road is hard to define. But in my opinion as long as the ordinary traffic law cover it and you can ride it with an ordinary car (not the defender) it’s not off-road. How ever if you follow the rules by the book here in Sweden a ordinary lawn is covered by the off-road law and forbidden to ride or drive on, with some exceptions. So if you ride your bike in your garden here in sweden you have taken it off-road 🤔
I have definitely taken mine off road haha especially on the farm which is very technical, and then there is the ABR trails plus Greg knows I off road my bike, but to be fair, I can be an idiot on bikes, I took my GSXR off road for a laugh, that was a barrel of laughs.@@JoonesAdventuresMC
@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider One of my biggest concern except the cast wheel is the headlight fitting. I have read about at least two broken headlights. It’s a plastic detail that’s weak and might break. 🤔
@JoonesAdventuresMC mines the TE model, not sure if they have the same headlight bracket or not, but mine has been abused off road, dropped, dragged, jumped, gone through fords upto my knees, I'm quite amazed at what she is able to do off road. But I do check after each trip or any severe off road, that everything is secure and safe. I'm only away the once this year in June for the ABR festival. So she won't be abused too much this year 🤔 🤣
I got a Yamaha XSR900 as a loan bike. I also had problems with my riding gear. The adventure boots was a little to clumsy and had to large toe box to fit under the gear shifter and my trousers stuck in the foot peg when putting down the side stand. The BMW technician was turned in sick as well so I shad the XSR for a couple of days 🤔😊
Wasn't too bad on this for the feet, just felt awful when turning her, very heavy and sluggish.
Hi im in the mission to convert my 750 to spoke wheels, could you help me telling me where did you buy them or at least where can i buy the hubs 🙏🏼
they are VMX KKE-Racing wheels, google that exactly and remember to put 750gs, and they will come up
Have you ever gotten around to scraping off that massive bird shite off your screen? That can cause a dangerous imbalance!
Yes, it was clean for all of 10 minutes
IMO, the F750 (I had one but sold it due to a serious illness) is one of the most underrated "do-it-all" motorcycles out there. The last thing I was going to do mine, was get a front fork spring kit, which I feel would have made it nigh perfect!?! Anyway, "for me" based on what is out there today in the middle-weight marketplace, next year (when winter passes here in the North West USA), I'll seriously be looking at the new F-800. Enjoy your 750!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same color as my 2022 bike, I am fine with front suspension, Stock tires after 1 year, I am a Roadie, not into the mud roads at all. upgraded windshield and metal side bags, but also a top bag mostly, take off side bags unless needed. going to change my brake fluid next week myself. dealers ridiculous labor rates here in USA AZ
great review!.....agree on the suspension, i had the Hyperpro suspension lowering kit installed on my 750GS and it made a huge difference.
Do you hear clonk in front when the spring rosebuds after hitting a pot hole ?
Nope, and I've ridden this quite hard off road, the upgraded suspension has made a very good difference

Seems the. Proteus is just like the Knox MK3 shirt, CE level 2 armor all around, breathable armored shirt. I like the Proteus because it has Chest protection and rib protection. I think I'll get also to ride alongside my Knox MK3 jacket. Perfect.
used mine on some trails in about 30c heat, it breathed well and felt very secure on my person, very happy with the replacement
