Trying out the trendy twisted headbands! My first attempt was a fail - I thought a simple knit tube would be enough. It wasn’t. After frogging it, I went for a different approach, and I’m much happier with the result!

I crocheted my first sweater from scratch and this is how I did it.
Girl who do you get ur yarn like that my yarn balls don't work?❤❤
lol I think the secret is in the tension, but as you can see from the pink ball, I haven't figured it out myself yet 😅
Hey just wondering if anyone knows how many stitches you’re supposed to have when setting up the decreasing rows 10:00 ? I have 87 lol and I think it’s supposed to be 90 according to her numbers but I don’t know where they came from haha
Hi! Good question! 😊 Let me explain how I got 90 stitches: You start by casting on 84 stitches and knitting in the round for a while. When you switch to knitting flat, there’s a setup row where you first decrease 3 stitches (down to 81). Then, you increase 9 stitches by doing a "kfb" (knit front and back) after every 7 stitches (k7, kfb). That brings you to a total of 90 stitches. Hope this helps!
@counting_rows Thank you, do you have any advice for how to fix it?
Hi! Here’s how I would adjust the stitch count: I’d skip the decreases in the setup row. It would look like this: Setup row: 2 edge stitches, k34, place marker, k15, place marker, k34, 2 edge stitches Then, in the next decrease row, I’d remove just one stitch: Decrease row: 2 edge stitches, k34, place marker, k13, k2tog, place marker, k34, 2 edge stitches This should help you get to the correct stitch count. I hope this works for you! 😊
Haha when you were to unravel your other project and pulled that face i felt it from here. Loved the headband! So cute. ❤
😊 thank you
Thank you for this tutorial so much <3
A simple 2-row repeat pattern that creates a soft, squishy, and reversible texture. Cast on an odd number of stitches. set-up: knit one row. row 1: * k1, k1b * repeat, k1 row 2: k2, * k1b, k1 * repeat, k1 Repeat these two rows until the desired length is reached. Bind off loosely.
Thank you for this amazing tutorial :). This was my first real knitting project and it turned out really nice!
Thank you! I’m so glad the tutorial was helpful and that your first knitting project turned out so nicely. Wishing you lots of fun with future projects! 😊
I just finished my balaclava with this tutorial and learned so much thank you! ❤ question, if I want to do another one but not oversize, regular size, how can I adjust the measurements? Any recommendations? I really appreciate your help thanks again!
Thank you, I’m glad the tutorial was helpful. ❤ If you’d like a regular fit, you could try skipping the increases, but to avoid too much trial and error, it might be easier to find a pattern specifically designed for a standard fit. I hope that helps!
I made a balaclava with this video, while being a beginner knitter! I learned a lot of new techniques and you made it all very clear! I would suggest taking enough time tho, because I had to rush to finish it before Christmas! But it turned out very nice!
This was extremely helpful and clear. Thank you so much! 🙏🏼❤
Hi I’m having troubles with setting up the decrease row, my number of stitches is smaller and I can’t pull those 34 knits. I suppose the part between those two stitch markers should be in the middle of the back. Is there a pattern you can go with to count how many stitches I should go with to have it in the middle as well? 😔 Thanks in advance 🌷
Hi, I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Before you start the decrease rounds you should have 90 stitches on your needles for the stitch count to work out correctly. If your stitch count is slightly off, let me know how many stitches you have. I've already helped someone with a similar problem in the comments, so that might be useful for you. There isn't a specific pattern, but I've posted a summary on my Ko-fi blog that might help as well. ko-fi.com/post/Loose-Fit-Balaclava--Oversize-Hood-Beginner-Frie-G2G0169MP9
@ Hi beautiful, thank u so much for putting in the effort to reply! 🌷 I have 72 stitches on my needles..
Hi, thank you for the update! 🌷 Based on your stitch count, I think the issue might have happened during the set-up row, right after the ribbing. This row should increase the stitch count from 84 to 90 stitches. If decreases were accidentally made instead of the kfb (knit front and back) increases, that could explain the missing stitches. Could you double-check this part to see if the increases were done correctly? If not, you might need to go back and rework this row to ensure the correct stitch count before continuing. Alternatively, since you end with 74 stitches anyway, you can continue without the decreases until you reach a total length of 45 cm (measured from the cast-on) and then move on to the Kitchener stitch part (at 14:03). But bear in mind, this will make the hood less oversize. It might be a good idea to try it on and decide how you want to proceed based on the fit. Let me know if you need more guidance - happy to help! 😊
@ Hi love thank you so much for your guidance. I decided to be more “messy” about it and figure it out as I go and it still turned out fabulous! Thank you once again keep up with your amazing work 🪷💗
I’m so happy to hear it turned out fabulous! 😊 Sometimes the best results come from just going with the flow and figuring things out along the way. tbh, I was a bit afraid I might have discouraged you with my answer, but I’m glad you found your own way!
I loved the video. I am a beginner, could you explain how to interpret the gauge indications?
Thanks for your comment 🧡 The gauge shows how many stitches and rows fit into a 10 x 10 cm square in stockinette stitch (usually). To check, knit a small swatch and measure 10 x 10 cm. Count how many stitches go across and how many rows go up. If you have more stitches, try bigger needles. If you have fewer, go smaller. This helps your project turn out the right size. (It doesn’t have to match the numbers exactly, but try to get as close as possible.) If you’re not sure how to make a swatch, search “gauge swatch” on RUclips - there are lots of helpful videos to guide you. Let me know if you have more questions 😊
Last Advent Sunday, just a few more days to go! Here’s a quick and easy scrap project: you’ll need a 6 cm plastic bauble (glass isn’t the best idea, be careful!), some fingering-weight yarn scraps, and a 3 mm crochet hook. The instructions are in the description - fun fact: you can tap or click on the Short’s title to open it! (I just recently found that out.) Wishing you peaceful and stress-free (or as stress-free as possible) holidays! ❤
I crocheted a book sleeve for my planner using a 4 mm hook and aran weight cotton yarn. I started with a granny square, made it big enough to wrap around my book, then worked in rounds until it was fully covered. Finally, I added a simple single crochet edge and ties. I love how it turned out - perfect for keeping my planner protected and cozy! 😊
Wow , Can I ask about the size of the bag in inches or cm? And what is the size of each square? 😊😚
The bag measures 38 x 42 cm (about 15 x 16.5 inches), with each square approximately 12.5 x 12.5 cm (5 x 5 inches). Feel free to ask if you'd like more details! 😊
This Sunday, I knitted another little tree ornament - a tiny stocking. I used Purl Soho's Snow Day Stocking as a reference but made a few changes: I swapped two strands of bulky yarn for one strand of fingering weight yarn, used 2.5 mm needles instead of 12 mm, and adjusted the height as I went. I love how it turned out! 😊
Are you going to use the yarn right away?
Yes, I usually use the yarn right away. However, I also re-wind used yarn to keep things organized and make storing leftovers a little less messy.
Lovely! Thank you for sharing.
This is the first thing I have ever knitted that actually turned out good!! Thank you so much :D
Thanks.l! This made it click for me. I was getting lost on other videos. So much simpler.❤
I totally get that! Sometimes it takes seeing things from different perspectives before it clicks. I'm really glad I could help! 😊
Why not use it straight from the skein?
I could, but winding it first just feels smoother to work with.
@ thank you for the reply I am new to crocheting so I did not know
😂 i swear i do the awkward trying to put it through the tensioner every time
😅
The ??? While remembering how to thread it on. I felt that.
That ‘how do I do this again?’ moment is so real! 😂 Glad I’m not the only one!
PS: can I be a pain and ask what brand/content yarn you used and in what colours please? I am useless at putting colour palettes together, so I would love to replicate this one 😊. Thank you. Emily
Hi Emily! Not a pain at all-happy to help 😊. The yarns I used are Hobbii Tweed Delight in Ivory Neon (02), Drops Melody in Mustard (18), Off White (1), and Light Blue (21), and Gründl Shetland in Rose Melange (1), Creme Melange (4), Light Green (2), and Jeans Melange (3)
Thank you so much, that’s very helpful and kind of you to share those details 😊. Emily
Thank you for a beautiful pattern - I absolutely love the granny stitch! I will be hooking one of these scarfs 🤗👍
Hey sorry, i don’t really get the part @11:39 like work 5 rows in stockinette. Could you please explain it more to me, ty!
Hi! Stockinette stitch means you knit all stitches on the right side (the front of your work) and purl all stitches on the wrong side (the back of your work). For 5 rows in stockinette, you alternate between knitting a row and purling a row. In this case you start with a purl row. Don’t forget to work the 2 edge stitches. Let me know if that clears it up! 😊
@counting_rowsTy so much! i finished it and it's my first knitting work. What a perfect pattern
Happy Second Advent! 🎄 This Sunday, I crocheted a cute Christmas tree ornament using a pattern and yarn (Nord) from Drops Design. Just search for "Christmas Flowers Drops Design" to find the pattern. Wishing you a cozy, crafty holiday season! ❤
Is there anything you can do so that it doesn't roll up so much around the face?
Have you tried blocking? Wet or steam blocking can help relax the fibers and reduce curling 😊. Be careful with steam on acrylic to avoid melting! If that doesn’t work, I’m sorry I don’t have another solution 😔
Absolutely lovely! What yarn weight and hook size did you use on your scarf?
bulky weight yarn and a 6 mm crochet hook
@counting_rows thank you! Your pastel colors are so gorgeous 🥰
lovely pattern making mine now thank you
I'm glad you like it 😊
Hi, I just want to thank you so much for this tutorial. Thank you for the time and detail you put into it. This was my 3rd knit project and it came out perfect!! Just subbed, keep it up :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm happy to hear your project turned out great. Wishing you lots of fun with your future knitting! 😊
What you showed is different than ehat you were making
Thank you for your feedback! In the video, I use a swatch to explain the pattern so you can create your own version of the scarf. It’s meant to be a guide rather than a step-by-step tutorial for the scarf shown in the thumbnail. I hope the video still gives you the information you need to make something beautiful! 😊
Love it!!! Thank you!!! Going to make this as a gift!
Thanks a lot! 😊 Hope it turns out great - it’s such a sweet idea for a gift! 🎁
Let’s Knit a Bow Main Bow: Cast on 3 sts. Knit 1 row. Double the second stitch in every row until you have 10 sts. Knit in garter stitch until the piece measures about 42 cm / 16 1/2 inches. K1, K2tog, knit until the end of the row. Repeat this step until you have 3 sts left. Bind off. Little Band: Cast on 5 sts. Knit in garter stitch until the piece measures 5 cm. Bind off. For a Nicer Edge: Knit each first stitch of every row through the back loop. Slip every last stitch of every row with the yarn in front of the stitch, as if to purl.
Thank you for replying I am a beginner to knitting I really appreciate your help x
Is there s knitting pattern i can buy
Thanks for your comment! I don’t have a separate pattern for this, but I’ve explained how I made it in the video description. Since the description can be hard to find in Shorts, I’ve shared the details in a pinned comment here. I hope this helps! ✨
The Advent season has begun, and I’m kicking it off with a knitted ornament! 🧶 Want to make one too? Check out the tutorial I shared last year. 🤗
just finished it! new winter staple thank you so much :)
Yay! 😊 So happy to hear that! I hope it keeps you warm and cozy all winter long ⛄ Enjoy!
This looks so pretty, I love the colors! What crochet hook size did you use? 😊❤
Thank you! 😊 I used a 4mm (G) crochet hook for this project
Does it matter if my count is off by one? Instead of 34 stitches, I have 33 before the 2 edge stitches?
Having one stitch less is no big problem at all! I would double-check the row count just to be sure, but if it’s still off, here’s what I would do: I’d simply skip one decrease. For the setup row, it would look like this: 2 edge stitches, k 34, place marker, ssk, k 15 (instead of k 14, k2tog), place marker, k 34, 2 edge stitches. This way, you’ll have the correct number of stitches moving forward. Let me know if you have any other questions! 😊
@ great thanks so much!
this video is incredibly helpful, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Absolument magnifique !
😊
I’m getting stuck with the set up row. What does *k 7, kfb* 9 times, k 8 mean? Am I repeating the k7 and the kfb 9 times until I’m left with k8, or do I do the full sequence of *k 7, kfb* 9 times, k 8 then repeat k7 and kfb9 until the end?
That’s right! You repeat *k7, kfb* 9 times, and then knit the last 8 stitches (k8)
Could you plz tell me,what size needle is?
6 mm
thank you sm for this video !! I was just wondering how many balls of yarn did you use for this project ?
Thanks so much for your comment! 😊 I used 3 balls of DROPS Nepal and 1 ball of Diablo by Hobbii for this project. Let me know if you need any more details! 🧶
Kaç ilmek attınız.
Well done. Beautiful bag. I'm thinking of doing a cushion cover with that pattern.
A cushion cover sounds like a great idea! I think this pattern is perfect for home decor 😊 What colors are you thinking of? 😄
✨Here’s a simple trick to estimate the exact yarn you need for the Long Tail Cast On.✨ 1. Wrap the yarn 10 times around your needle. (this equals 10 stitches) 2. Multiply this as many times as you need for your project. For example: 5 times for 50 stitches, 10 times for 100 stitches. 3. Add a little bit more for weaving in the tail end later. 4. Now you’re all set to cast on with the perfect amount of yarn!
Start and end each row with this easy two-stitch repeat for clean edges: ~ Bring the yarn to the front. ~ Slip 1 stitch purlwise. ~ Knit 1 stitch. That’s it! Try it in your next project for smooth, neat edges. 🧶
suuuper cute!!! <3! this is now on my to-make list!
Yay! Thank you! ☺️
Thank you for this video…I have wanted to make one of these for a long time but have been afraid it was too hard to make…but your video is so clear, I think I’m up for the challenge 😊❤
I’m sure you can do it! 😊 I tried my best to make everything as clear as possible. 😅 If you have any questions, feel free to reach out - I’m happy to help. Enjoy giving it a try!
Very clear
Omg adding the mohair really added dimension!! How cute is he!!
