In my opinion, this piece is idiomatically written for the harpsichord. Its nuances come alive on the harpsichord.

It’s fun to learn an obscure piece of keyboard repertoire like this. To think there are only a handful of people in the world who can play it better than you is a bit more rewarding than tackling the standards where, musically speaking, everything has already been said.

When you hear Royer on harpsichord one realizes this idea of staccatto attacks is not sufficient to characterize the keyboard music of the Baroque period . The harpsichord resounds and in Rameau and all the nature loving composers of this era maybe we should let the piano just sing and be itself or perhaps other ways. Busoni in his baroque treatments never used short touches to typify organ or harpsichord music . Royers ' intensity is astonishing . Vertigo so much from this master hypnotizes one !

Although I prefer the harpsichord I really like this light and sparkling way of playing! It helps me better understand this highly complex piece of music. I especially like the surprises at 4:15! Keep up the brilliant playing!
