Toshiba 55C350KU TV Backlight Repair | Floss Method?
I am but a humble backlight repair technician, and this is how to repair a backlight circuit. This is a common issue not only for this model, but plenty of other brands, such as:
Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, Sharp, Sony, ONN, Sceptre, Sanyo, Vizio, Element, etc.
Symptoms: Sound but no picture, bad picture tube, bad lamp / bulb

Would replacing the PCB fix it or is it a screen issue?
It’s an issue with the panel as far as I know. Replacing the ribbon won’t fix it
❤
is it going to last?
Unfortunately this issue is extremely common with Samsungs TVs, and it will always happen eventually. Sometimes you can cover another clock signal and it will work with worse quality. And if you reduce power consumptions for the tv, you can also slow this aging.
Call me crazy but aren't those mosfits 💀
The misfits is a band from the early 80’s hardcore punk movement. Oh you mean mosfets? Yeah, those are metal oxide semiconductor field effect transmitters. Gold star ⭐️
Is that a dude or a chick
Yes!
I'd tap that.
transfems are tech nerds u are transfem right?
i tought boot loop in 99% causing faulty nand chip.
In a lot of TVs yes, it’s a firmware issue often times on the NAND or EEPROM. But this is a very common issue on Samsung TVs. You can do a search on RUclips for Samsung “tape method”
Interesting. My work. We use lots of tvs. We replace them all the time. We usually just trash them. Would like to learn how to fix them.
You probably Bypassed one of the CKV lines of the panel It workers flawlessly with the 32 inch samsung single COF models but not with the larger ones , they usually have a violet tint on the half of side on which the work is done .
Thanks for the comment! I’ve heard about the CKV lines before, and I totally know what you mean with the color issues. It’s very hit or miss for me at the moment. Do you have any tips to share about this topic?
Hey man, almost threw my TV out, saw your video and decided "what the f***, might as well junk it missing a couple useless capacitors" and lo and behold, your fix worked!
That’s awesome! I’m glad I could help save your TV and your wallet 😁
Could you give the list of materials? Please 🙏🏼
Of course. I use the following things but it’s also important to have a flat and relatively soft area to work, free of any objects that could crack the screen: - Screwdrivers (rigid model R8224) - Backlight tester (TKDMR model TD3H) - Spatula pry tool (ACE hardware) - Portable soldering iron (Lenove 926 LED III) set at 360 - any 3v LED backlight strips for repair, or search for the tv model number + “backlights” on eBay to replace the whole set - low melt solder, enameled copper wire I think that’s everything (:
I have the same issue with a similar model, swapped power supply and the issue continues, standby light blinking every 5s and won’t start.
It’s possible that the power board you replaced it with has the same issue, as this is a design flaw from Samsung. I recommend testing without the main board plugged in, to confirm if it’s the power board. If the screen stays lit up (backlights) then try the main board. Hope this helps (:
This tvs are bad quality they brake alot and alwas loose display😮
Hello -- So like one here described, the logo pops up for a brief second and fades out fast, the power light blinking and then the tv shuts off. I originally was going to get the boards but from what your saying it is more than likely the backlight?
Not the purpose of the video at all but you're gorgeous and so is your voice im glad you showed up
nice
Mándame un saludo hasta México
Is it easy to turn a regular tv into a smart tv
The easiest way is to buy a Roku box or fire stick (:
I used reciept paper and a 9v battery in place of the power supply. Worked great!
That is really awesome! Do you mind if I steal your idea for the next video on this topic? Such a creative solution, I love it!
And your friendly neighborhood regular commenter tv technician is here to post a comment with no context Can you please provide how you Bypassed the chip , seems pretty efficient
Thanks! I plan on making another video with diagrams for this particular tv. But for this specific board I tied the 0ohm resistor before the chip to ground.
Thx
Thanks for watching ♡
I'm going to assume this was trolling. Everything was wrong. The words, the tools, the soldering
I’ll admit the video is a bit silly. But the tv works after a successful repair and THAT is not a troll (:
i wish i was the tv
That’s a good looking tv 😄
I actualy have a problem with my tv. So the whole tv works except for the screen. Its just black but the ambilight works and sound. Can jou help maybe?
Yes, this can sometimes be a problem with the panel. Known as a short panel. We have videos on the Hisense 58R6E3, which has this problem a lot. If it’s a different model, this solution also might work. But it sounds like a short panel Good luck!
The panel is fvked , if the tv is old enough it's more effective to buy a new tv instead of repairing it
@nakshtra604 Panel issues can be repaired, we have some videos of this on the Chanel. Stay tuned because we filmed a really cool panel repair video yesterday!
Ever try fixing Oled, or is that a completely different beast compared to LCD screens?
Yeah! Honestly the most common OLEDs we get in by LG are either short panels (haven’t found a reliable fix… yet) or a simple board swap. I’ve run into very specific cases, such as a one of a kind transparent oled that we scrapped together a power supply for, and some other one offs. I’m excited to make more videos on OLEDs as I learn (: thank you for the comment, and stay tuned!
@@surefixtech Fantastic thanks for the reply. Also for your own entertainment room, Do you mess with Qled or Oled?
In my own home I use an LCD. Although I don’t really watch television so often, ironic I know :p
Do you have any recommendations for getting new LCD panels? I have two cracked flat screen Samsungs I refuse to just get rid of for ewaste reasons (and slight attachment to them)
I respect that! There are a few ways to find a panel: You can open the tv and look for the part number, search for it online. It will likely be very expensive and shipping can be a problem. You can also look on Facebook marketplace or something like that for someone selling a broken tv that you may be able to harvest the panel from if it’s the same model. You could also check with a local repair shop and ask if they have the panel/tv in stock. I hope this helps (:
People don't get you, yes board level repairs are better, but it's easier to swap in known good boards that you have already serviced l/repaired and determined to be reliable, than to try and repair the defective one on the spot, and then have it just fail later. @surefixtech You're doing great! 😉 I Love your work! 👍👍👍
🙌 you get it!! I do think component level repair is cool and worth doing, we just happened to have this board in stock to replace. Thanks for the comment 🤘
So instead of doing component level repair, you're just doing board swaps... if someone wants to buy a board, he/she may spend a few hundred dollars
I know what you mean. We just happened to have the board, but you can find it online for less than $50. We do have some component level repairs posted on the channel for reference as well. I would also like to go more in depth with a longer video on power board repair, so stay tuned !
That's a no brainer
@hero4life313 I’m actually in the process of editing a long form video about a power board repair for an OLED LG tv… Component level repair 😎 watch out for sus MOSFETs
Good afternoon on you I have been fixing those lg and Hisense tvs where the backlights go out for a while now
Backlight repair is the staple of tv repair economy, keep fighting the good fight, friend (:
You should do a video on the "right to repair" legislation. If not...we really may not be fixing much of anything in the near future.
Thank you for the sincerity, and I agree. A lot of creators on here who have inspired me to make videos have also really instilled in me the importance of right to repair. This will come in the future, so stay tuned (;
@@surefixtech You are quite welcome. 👍
So I can save $1500 if i have a spare working power board? Gee, what useful advice! Not!
That’s what we did, you could also just order the power board by part number for around $50 :0
Ah right, so when you're on your 6th $1500 TV, you can fix it by scavenging parts from the 5 you bought earlier ;)
See I’m glad someone understands 🥹
How did you fix it? I think I have the same problem. I'm wondering whether I need to change the power supply unit or the mother board.
This was a very long time ago so I don’t remember exactly, but I can tell you what I would do today: please be safe working on devices with high voltage. After opening the back and discharging the power board safely (if you don’t know how to do this it’s better to be safe and don’t attempt this repair as OLEDs carry a lot of power), I would check the power board main capacitor, and check to see if the main board is getting voltage. Other than that, please be safe and take it in to a shop if you are unsure. Alternatively, order both boards and return whichever one you don’t need.
Thanks for fixing my tv! And thanks for listening to my pokemon cards nonsense😅
Thanks for coming in! We love all things nerdy 😁
