Makes one want to listen to the complete works.
The Rhapsody too quotes the Dies Irae, especially in the tenth variation.
Neither jhonson was a good artist at first, nor many of the sellouts. Seems funny how all the "greats" were the most messed up artists to ever be, yet we are taught to worship them.
I love this piece. It’s my favourite Rachmaninov piece and I was listening to it on the way home from school today. It fits the December weather here in England.
I can't believe this video is not viewed by MILLIONS!!!!
wowww I always thought the lower keys represent wolf praying on rrh and high notes represent rrh happily hopping about with joy in her gait but unaware of what's to come - it's insane comp - the fact that everything you mentioned is exactly how I deciphered the comp, including the chase as L and R hands start with far separations between them but then join in in what feels like a chaotic chase - you can feel rrh struggling as she tries to get away and the final chops as she's devoured alive - to be able to evoke such details and mental imagery in a listener attest that rachmaninoff is indeed a master jedi composer
How did u get all this information about Rachmaninoff from?
Mostly from reading biographies and analyses of his compositions!
❤❤❤
Very informative, thank you 👍🏼
Very good video! Thank you for educating us on Paganini. You made my morning! God bless you!
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Nice, he is my favorite composer
Interesting! Rach is my favorite composer.
That Rachmaninoff was inspired by "Little Red Riding Hood" to write this piece should not be taken as a basis for restricting your imagination while listening to it. Rachmaninoff had a much grander musical imagination than to tie himself to the details of a fairy tale. Let your mind wander, and you will leave Red Riding Hood far, far behind, even if the "wolf's" final chomp is indeed final. Artistic freedom? Yes I suppose, but this isn't the most clear demonstration, and instead stands for so many deeper things.
Thank you, this was helpful.
Thank you for this very clear, helpful contextualising intro - or my case, reminder.
I would like to have heard the piece without the commentary
Then find a recording? This is an informative video about the piece.
🆒🫘
either this description is stolen from ashish xiangyi kumar or he stole it from this video
It really is a great piece. I especially love the intermezzo and var. 14.
With Rachmaninoff, one reference to it that I find interesting is in the middle voice of the last section of the Liebesleid. And, since you brought up My Chemical Romance, an even more clear use of it in a rock song is in the Type O Negative song Creepy Green Light.
very cool to hear the full first phrase in creepy green light!
One of my favorite pieces as well.
好美!

May be a good few months late, but wow. This is a great analysis. I especially loved that you picked up the left hand running after the right hand. Great work!!
A beautiful and sensitive performance.
Thank you!

Super cool, @ellenlimusic!!!
thanks, @thesixstringederic!!
I'm never tired of it
Incredible
I've never seen white lilacs, just shades of purple.
So many things are simply for convenience so why not these as well?
Super creepy. Is he your favorite composer?
yep! love rachmaninoff
Our organist at the church where I sing loves him, too. He has small hands so has to make adjustments when he plays the music.
Me personally, he’s my favorite for piano. Shostakovich is my favorite composer of all time tho
Love Rachmaninoff for piano but how about Liszt and Chopin?
Excellent.
And there is one more building, a computer music geek one, an experimental place, CCRMA (Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics) above the hill!!
Ah you briefly mention it in the ending of this vid hahaha
Thank you for a very enjoyable video it's very interesting and I really enjoyed it
I ❤ DEVIL'S MUSIC 🎶
Thanks for the like.
Murdered??? I can't imagine how someone who communes with the higher heavenly harmonies, can be an evil person who could commit murder or intentional pain to another.
