    What a nice lesson. Better than any class in school that I took. That sea holly, in nature! I've only seen it in our garden center in the Upper South of US. Wait! I heard Lady's Bedstraw! A fav of mine. Thank you!

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😁 the colours in sea holly are just beautiful. The harsh coastal weather keeps Lady's Bedstraw small here, inland it gets quite large and looks like bright yellow candy floss!

      That’s interesting to hear, yes with the right conditions it is possible for them to hatch their own, but more often than not they don’t. With ours we find they lay in piles but aren’t really interested in hatching them 🙉

    • @gardenonthemoors
      @gardenonthemoors 2 месяца назад

      Ooh that's interesting, and I can see that they would as they often have little baby leeks growing from their roots. We tend to just eat them when they're ready, they often develop rust in our damp climate as they age so wouldn't last that long.

    • @gardenonthemoors
      @gardenonthemoors 8 месяцев назад

      You're quite right, although I only have a small amount of space for them, max 15 plants, which I want a succession of across the season and so need different sowing dates. Each seed is inexpensive and this method means that the few I do grow are the strongest and most robust I can get. I do transplant the outcasts if a trio in a separate pot hasn't germinated, has failed due to slugs or are weak in growth, so they are also my insurance policy 😊 Hope that helps!
