@1:52 I find a lot that look similar to that one here in AR, I just love em. As always love the video Happy Hounding
Ohhh myyyy!!! That’s a beauty! 😍
Hot and humid in Minnesota today.
Yeah, the heat and humidity returned here too. We are at 81 degrees and humid.
@@jimsgems74 that’s about what is is here today, too. I think the hurricane pushed too much gulf moisture up this way.
это кварц
Clarify that a bit further, because I know chalcedony is a type of quartz.
The one @12:37 reminds me of banded Calcite, very pretty! Thanks for sharing & Happy Hounding
Thank you! Yes I see that too, that’s a good point!
Could you record when the water is ripping through the creek sometime? Bet that would look pretty cool.
Sometimes it’s the small stuff we miss in life. I need to absorb more of that and yes I will!
The super square one @1:30 looks a lot like Calcite.
I agree, I thought that too and ended up leaving it down at the creek.
nice one❤
Thank you!
Wowzers!😊
I know right!
Do you have a way to cut them, like some kind of table saw? I think that the ones that are heavier maybe agatized. I'm sure you know the coloring/banding/chalcedony in them would be indicators of that. They could possibly help you in finding out if you want to cut it or not. Being new myself I have been using my UV light a lot. It helps me see the stuff inside that can't see with the naked eye. Maybe one could help you as well, that or that new dig microscope LOL As always love the videos thanks for sharing Happy Hounding
I do have a mitre saw with a diamond blade that I cut a couple of stones on but I stopped. I need to revisit that. I also have a UV light but haven’t had much success using it. Maybe I need to retry that again too. Thanks for the advice!
@@jimsgems74 Cool keep us posted and please do share any finds.
Do you have your degree in geology or did you acquire your knowledge as a hobby? Either way, great channel!
I don’t have a degree in any rock related designation but I grew up studying rocks and got away from it in my teens. I should’ve stayed with it but nonetheless I came back to it. Thanks for the kind words!
@@jimsgems74 Being self taught is pretty cool! Thank you for the response.
@@Sol-Amar yes of course
WOW! look at the yellow in that one. I haven't seen any in the videos so far. I was curious if any of them when you clean them retain their color like the yellow in this one. Do you think this will go ALL white when you clean it? you use iron out to clean them right?
Yes, that's a good question. That's usually how I know if it is all rust or iron stained or the real color. It will be interesting to see if it retains that yellow!
Cool you have your own personal/natural panning sleuth. I bet there is ALL kinds of gold, gems, artifacts and goodies in them.
I need to be doing some panning. I haven’t even attempted looking for gold.
@@jimsgems74 That's how I started RH, looking for gold NO luck of course LOL It did pique my interest in rocks/minerals. It is a lot of fun to play around and if you get some cool if not you had fun well to me anyways. Great family activity. I bet your daughter would enjoy learning about it, if she's into that kind of stuff.
Is it possible to look for the source of these rocks? I have seen gold people saying that the mother lode is up somewhere on a mountain and the water would bring the smaller pieces downstream, something like that. Cheers!
Yeah, I’ve expected this all comes from other locations loosened up stream but haven’t explored that because it’s not on my property. I will say this is a spring fed creek and is only about 200 yards further up stream from me.
It looks like beef fat at first lol
Haha, that’s great!
nice one❤
I agree, but I’m a little biased lol
My best guess is the lines are crystal growth and it probably was up against other crystals but they have been moved around over the centuries. The crystals probably metamorphosed into whatever that rock is today. But I am not a geologist. I’m basing my guess on what I’ve seen and heard other people say.
Pretty good guess I would say, more than likely they occurred during formation. Pretty cool in my opinion.
I always thought that the striation lines on quartz was the way it was growing. After watching your video, I was curious myself. Here is what I found on "AI App" I am sure you most all of this I hope maybe something will help. . . Growth Lines: These are natural lines that form as the quartz crystal grows. They can sometimes appear as horizontal or wavy lines on the surface. Veins or Inclusions: Quartz often contains other minerals or impurities that can form lines or patterns within the crystal. These can look different from the usual striations. Surface Etching or Weathering: If the quartz has been exposed to the elements, it might have developed lines or patterns due to weathering or chemical reactions on the surface. Polishing Marks: If the quartz has been polished, the lines could be marks left from the polishing process .. . . It does say at the bottom after all the above examples to look at the lines under microscope/jeweler's tool maybe you can learn some info doing so. Good luck I hope you find out what/why they are. Thanks for sharing always love your videos
This is good info, I should’ve guessed growth to be a possible culprit to have caused that but now I have a reason to purchase one of those digital microscopes I’ve been looking at.
@@jimsgems74 Yes they digimicro. I have been seeing them online and others using them would be AWESOME to have and so much fun to use. I would nerd out looking at my collection at 20xs zoom LOL If you get you will deff have to post some videos!
@@ArleneIaconelli-b7b I know I am going to nerd out too and my wife is just going to shake her head at me over these rocks. She thinks I'm losing my mind now, lol.
@@jimsgems74Ha Ha HA! I know EXACTLY what you mean. The hubby thinks the same thing with me LOL. It's crazy the things we connect with that's others don't understand. I know for myself there is no other place more peaceful than when you are out at a creek at one with nature in the fresh air. He tells me all the time great as long as you're having fun and enjoy it. Like I have staid before i just started this yr. I have already converted all my flower beds to rock beds. Now working on all my nick knacks, counter tops and any other nock and cranny I can stash one. Just something about them that brings a calming, serenity just plane ole happy feeling! I know that crystals do have an effect with our Shakras. I have been reading up on that myself lately pretty interesting. As always love the videos thank for sharing Happy Hounding
Meron po ako nyan sir
Some pretty ones today! 😊 A large part of my collection are pink/ red colored rocks. I found a small brownish rock that glows red a couple weeks ago. So exciting, lol 😂
Oh wow, you’ve got to share ! Most of mine are obviously of the yellow variety but I love the variations of color!
Hi good following me ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That large rock would make a cool door stop.
That’s true, you used to see that more in the old farmhouses of my youth. Those days are certainly gone aren’t they my friend!
Use UV light if you like to know diamond rubby Topaz 😅
I am looking at buying one but I know I have to get the right wavelength I think to do that accurately.
Love the music
I love it too!
Looks like you've got some nice cut crystals from the prehistoric Giants. What state you in
@@mre3161 I’ll take that ! I’m in South Cackalacky
😮 that is so cool
@@norarlee6090 I know right!
Wow!!
I have so many stones like that very beautiful stone yellow color
You are blessed then, they are beautiful gems!
The gold on the big rock in the beginning was unique. If you had the equipment to do so, it would make a nice stone for jewelry imo. 👍 It would be hard for me to put it back in the creek, lol
I know, I struggle with that often but after I clean it I will have a better idea as to what it is and what I want to do with it. I agree that gold and orange coloration is beautiful.
The red ones are so pretty 🤩 and the banding in the last one was really nice. Gems, indeed! 😊😊
@@joycedelk7115 I agree and I really like the red ones too. They are rare.
Some nice finds in that creek. I love the smokey quartz! Thanks. :o)
Me too, they are some of my favorites!
Why is the songs name debussy
Claude Debussy the composer
@@jimsgems74do you like de bussy?
Well, I am a little backward. My typical choice for music in my videos unless I really like something that I want to play, is to pick a song that I like in the moment and also see if they have fewer number of shares or uses in other videos. I know, I defeat my own purposes sometimes, but that is my method. So, yes, I liked Debussy in that moment for that video.
What do you clean them with when they’re soaking in the bucket? I found stones in my driveway (much smaller than what you have) and I sat with a bucket of water and a toothbrush to clean most of the grass and gravel dust from them. It was a tedious and painstaking process… 😂😂😂 Still not sure what they are, but they glow too 😀🙌
So, what you are seeing is just my cleaned rocks in a metal bucket full of just plain water. My secret is simple, I buy a product called Iron Out because most of the rocks in South Carolina are stained with red clay mud or soil with a lot of iron in it. I fill my bucket of rocks up with water to cover them and then pour in about a cup of iron out and then let them sit for up to 7 days. It may not take that long, and more iron out is not better. In fact, when they dry they will become chalky looking if you use too much, but that will do the trick.
@@jimsgems74 Ohh, well that’s simple enough! Thanks for the advice 🤓 I actually have Iron out too.. live in the country.. water gets rusty. 😄 I’ve always been a rock collector, and have piles of them and I’m trying to learn more about them. I appreciate the help!! 😁 Are you planning on cutting some of them? I have an older wet saw.. from back when they made things to last 🙌😊
I’m slowly collecting tools so I can get more involved in rockhounding. I love it so much 😀
@@joycedelk7115 be warned, it will draw you in, lol! I’m glad I could help.
@@joycedelk7115 I just can’t bring myself to cut them. I did cut one but I didn’t do anymore. For now I’m just looking for the best light to put under them for display.
Nice!! 😊
Thanks! 😄
WOW! it is very pretty even looked like it had some chalcedony in it. You must have some veins close to you or some old crystal mines maybe to find that many that big.
This area has quite a few old gold mines, and one large defunct kyanite mine. An adjacent county has the largest operating gold mine in the US. That kyanite mine location is still being monitored by the EPA due to contamination that occurred when they originally mined it. So, there are instances of these types of rocks and minerals being in the area. The state rock is also amethyst, and over the line in Mecklenburg county the largest emerald mined was found there, so we have the possibility to find some really nice rocks here.
@@jimsgems74 WOW! that's pretty freaking awesome.
Chicken nugget
You’re making me hungry, stop!
Chicken nugget
I just love the natural beauty of nature
Looks like the material we found in sw Washington. I think it's chalcedony but there's not much detail about the minerals in that area.
I’ve seen a lot of rock that looked like chalcedony to me as well. I’m never sure though. It is definitely hard material, around 7 on the hardness scale so it fits.
@@jimsgems74 I've got a video of my wife and I at that spot. The first 20 minutes is us getting down there but you can see and compare from some of what we found
@@scottbeutler4459 I will definitely do that and see what I think!

Hello to you as well and thank you so much!
@1:51 the darker grey almost black & blue one is awesome I would name him Gandolf. I find myself thinking when I am out RH them if only, they could talk the stuff those crystals have seen in their lifetime LOL I just LOve the golden ones as well like @2:13 nice finds as always love the videos
I find so many gold ones. They are most prevalent for sure. I’ll consider Gandolf or Grandolf since he is so grand lol.
WOW! I thought the one @2:13 was a arrowhead at first glance
I do that often, but haven’t found so many arrowheads, but I’m also typically not looking for them either.
Ah yes, a future rockhound in class as we speak. . . LOve it! This your granddaughter? I love mine to death they are so much fun, and I swear they grow even fast than our children did!
Well, she’s actually my daughter but we started late and had her at 40! She has friends that have grandparents our age lol, but it’s all good. I couldn’t imagine life without her.

Nice little family adventure! Always a joy to see the young ones getting involved in the rock hunting! I like the bracelet she is wearing, too. ❤
Thank you, I have been trying to get them more involved and she just decided she wanted to be a part of that video, so I’ll take it!

You should total do some rock test on @5:19 the "scat" it might be some dinopoo lol and is quite collectable and worth a bit if I am not mistaken
Beautiful stones in your backyard 😍 looks almost like a faint moonstone or labradorite.
Yes I see that quite often too. I won’t call it that because I’m not certain but I’ve thought so too.
😍
gorgeous rocks‼️‼️ may I ask how you clean them or what method you use?
Thank you, they sure are. I take one of my metal buckets (roughly 2 gallon buckets but it doesn’t matter) and put all the rocks I want to clean in them. Fill the water so it is covering them completely and put iron out in the water. Start off with a small amount (in 2 gallons I might use half a cup of iron out). Leave for roughly a week then pull them out and wash them off. I use iron out because SC soil is very muddy and iron rich. You might not need that in your area.
