Parachute System for Volantex ASW28 | DIY RC plane Parachute System | V.A.P.S.
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.2 года назад
The first video I posted on the is channel was about a parachute system I made for one of my RC planes, since then I have made a few more parachutes. Now I have started making a system for my Volantex ASW28, unfortunately only after I crashed it destroying the wings and leaving it un-flyable. This system allows me to bring the plane safely down to the ground. I ordered some new wings for the pl...
How to setup and fly your Volantex ASW 28 V2 (and flying tips) (Tip Stall Crash)
Просмотров 13 тыс.2 года назад
I purchased the ASW 28 from hobby king for ~$175 along with a Tattu 3s 2300mAh 45c battery and a Flysky voltage monitor. this video shows how to get your plane ready to fly, however I did make some mistakes in building and flying. The big reason I crashed was due to my use of rudder, or lack there of, the ASW 28 is a purpose-built sailplane and needs to be flown like one: don't use "Bank and Ya...

3:00 Way too tail heavy
I love creative videos like these. I did a drag chute for my edf jet. The plastic chute ripped so now I’m installing a ripstop chute today. Video in channel if interested.
2:30 obviously Tail Heavy
Mehr Gewicht nach vorne. Der Vogel ist Hecklastig
I have a problem with this glider, because when I turn on the equipment, the rudder moves to the right and I cannot trim it. please help
The way you show crashes make me feel good. I've just got my first rc trainer a week ago. Tried to fly it 3 times and got 3 crashes. So far I repair it more than fly =) but I guess it's a usual story in the hobby. At least each time I get progressively better and on my last attempt I managed my first successful flight from take off to pretty soft landing. So I think a couple more repairs and I'll be flying well.
I liked look of the model, but I have doubts about the gliding. The model behaves very nervously, and the free flight distance is very short.
Usa uno stabilizzatore di volo sicuramente ti aiuta 👍
Oh my god…..total destruction video, Too bad you didn’t have a Spectrum safe fly setup lol or better still get a really cheap plane to start with!!
At this point I had been flying for a few years, this was my fifth plane, but my first high aspect wing glider. because of this i was not as familiar with the way it handled conditions and my flying. I doubt safe can recover from a fully developed spin.
The first - RC SIMULATOR......!!!!!
Yeah but also no, I've used simulators but spending $100 on the only good simulator is not good. This was also not a situation you would ever run into in any simulator. plane simulators help you with basic controls, which I already mastered.
Take the stupid camera off the thing.
If you're talking about the gopro, it came off in the first crash. I used it as a counterweight for the battery I had I had to tape rocks to the tail after it fell off to get the GC right. as for the fpv camera, that as a significantly better way of flying and it was only a few grams.
At the start your CofG balance looked ok for a power plane but a glider needs to be more nose down without the power on? Tip stalls are usually caused by poor coordination when flying in glide mode where all three controls come into play i.e. rudder and aileron when rolling into the turn with increasing elevator to maintain the nose at the correct attitude.
Looking at a 56in Resistance parachute for running. $15 amazon. Plan to put it on my Ranger 2400.
I would suggest using a model rocket parachute or a trash-bag one like I have. The running ones are far too heavy and don't provide enough drag to wight ratio to be applicable to rc models. however whatever you do I look forward to seeing it!
@@DarwinHorvath the ranger wouldn't have an issue carrying it but packing it may be tough. I'm gonna look into model rocket chutes now. Idk why I didn't think of that. Nice 👍
Check out porcupine RC they have all your favorite airplanes for a very cheap. Don't pay the middle men a couple hundred bucks
It looks like it's tail heavy
It was not, in fact it was a bit nose heavy.
@@DarwinHorvath 👌
You flying like those pilots that sick the nose of the plane in the air when descending. Keep it level.
Okay, I hear you. Do keep in mind though I didn’t know how to fly this plane very well as it was only my 3rd or 4th flight. I’m sure with more time on the sticks I would be able to get it flying perfectly.
Hey on your asw 28 the wings have a wire on the end I want to do that to mine is there anyway you could make a video or just show how you mounted them
because I no longer have the plane I cant show you but I can try my best to explain: Before gluing the wiglets on I bent a bit of servo wire (thin piano wire) into a C shape, then I glued it between the wing and the wiglet. If I do make a video I'll make sure to let you know.
@@DarwinHorvath that helps thank you love the content
A turd of a glider. Get a radian or conscendo for the price you’ll pay for this thing
It is a beautiful model when its flying, that's why I got it.
Looks to me that you're doing skidding turns causing tip stalls. I would also add a little up elevator
nope, the aggressive roll input was the cause of the stall
Are you flying on 3s or 4s? Because I hear that its really underpowered with a 3s but amazing with a 4s, I've seen some people doing some amazing aerobatics on 4s.
This was on 3s because the esc can only handle 3s
@@DarwinHorvath Ahhh, I see.
@@DarwinHorvath get a 50 amp esc skywalker.. 4s is the better way to go
@@bobkeul7682 I was planing on getting an entire upgraded power system but buying replace parts for the plane costs more than just buying a new one
@@DarwinHorvath i have this plane and the V2 version can take 4s if it blips funny then change the motor thats what i had to do and worked great
Very clever stuff
Very nice video Sir!!!
Perhaps not the best beginner plane...
You're right, it's not. Neither am I.
Seems to tip stall in your tight turns.... need to turn less aggressively i think... Nice Plane... good flying!!
At 3-7 mph they all tip stall...
So, where is the setup part? Not that 15sec at the beginning…….Rudder ailerons flaps…..
I'm not sure what you mean, the 15 seconds in the beginning is just an intro, and I went over the setup for the rudder, aileron, and flaps.
Ok, it truly is that 15sec timewarp…..
2 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND...1) FULL THROTTLE FOR TAKEOFF....2) ALTITUDE IS YOUR FRIEND....REMEMBER , ITS NOT A SAILPLANE UNTIL YOU HAVE ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO SOAR... NICE LOOKING BIRD IN THE AIR...😃
A very fast deployment is not always a good thing
Elaborate, please.
@Horvath Productions opening shock can be very violent the plane can rebounded into the chute yes, I see you considered that by adding shock cord with the chute fabric being zero porosity ( plastic bag) the shock can be very strong I tried this on a balanca decathlon a while back my canopy was about half your size made of ripstop f111 and it ripped the plane in half literally I did have two shock cords and multiple hard point attachments and the apex opening was 7 inch diameter this is why most parachutes use a reffing system to slow down the opening sequence I've build many parachutes , droges drag chutes ramair canopies all real deal systems as it is what I do I work for a major manufacture here in Florida USA and I am a certified rigger Yes I have many jumps both standard and b.a.s.e jumps some times you want it to open right now watch a base jump then a regular skydive its a perfect example of low and high speed deployment base jumps rarely go to terminal velocity see if you can see the difference example base rigs use bigger pilot chute and no slider or a mesh slider rarely are they made from Zero porosity fabic and most are packed differently more like a reserve to open very very fast With a system for a gliders That we know can be very fast even without a motor it may have to be able to handle both high and low speed deployment Look into sleeved deployment or even a thin elastic break cord/band to retard the opening at the skirt of the canopy Good luck it looks like your well on your way 👍 I have built custom canopies but most where for large rockets a few larger drones and even what I can only describe as a grossly overpowered racing lawn mower from hell with zero breaks i was surprised it didn't Fall apart on it 70 mph run Basically a drag chute for a lawn mower lolol 😅
@@RGCbaseace ok
@Horvath Productions you asked for elaboration
@@RGCbaseace Yes, thank you
Awesome video and great shooting / editing! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks! I hope I'll be able to make some more videos on this system soon.
Cool video! where did you get the iron from?

Lovely Glider. I have a Phoenix 2400 yet to take it for maiden flight. Am sure to make some of the mistakes too 😅
Although the Phoenix has high wing fading like the ASW28 it will be less likely to stall in the same way, I would still recommend you fly it level and use rudder to coordinate your turns.
Really dude?
Yes, really.
Flying this glider with fpv above the clouds looks like a really cool thing.
Just don't let the FFA know :)
This is a very cool model airplane, one day I will buy it.
I think that's a great idea, but make sure to research how to fly it properly before your maiden.
@@DarwinHorvath yes, my plan was to make those long range fpvs. do you still have yours?
Had hoped you filmed how you fixed that broken wing at the middle of the clip. That looked bad
Luckily I had supper glue and tape, and that's all I used

I was lik when the hell is the video gonna start then I noticed that the whole video is just timelapse
